                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings, Zorpunt!

I was quite literally asleep at the wheel last weekend, which is why I was not able to address you with a column. I had been putting so much practice into my craft, I
fell into a deep slumber for many days (i.e. I went on a victory binge that lasted
for many days). I would regale you with another tale of my most recent victory over
Stonefish, but that story has as much dust on it as my mammy's memorabilia shelf so I
won't waste your time. We randomly matched up, I beat the tar outta him, I remain as
DM, but alas my reign is soon over. As he sometimes does, Noble has seemingly put me
on the proverbial shelf so that I may fight in the champions category instead of in
the freshmen. He says that if I fight even one or two more fights, I will surely get
my invite, so he is choosing to sit me out. I don't really agree with his assessment
of holding me out until the tournament. If the final twenty warriors are anything
like the finalists in the champions class from the last two tourneys I've been to, I
don't know how many of them I could actually beat anyway.

As it turns out, Noble has made the same decree of Gyrados, he will sit by my side on
fight day and cheer or teammates on. Vaporeon has one more match to get to 10 FE,
Tentacruel (who will be challenging Stonefish in a grab for the vacant throne) has 3
more fights to get in, and our new member will replace Kabuto, and fight his 4 fights
before tourney time to enter as an apprentice. Two months seems like a long time to
sit and watch and wait, but that will give me more time to practice (and sleep).

Later days Zorpunt. I'll see you in 4 or 5 turns....

                                      SPY REPORT

The sages err'd not in their foretelling of a god descending upon ZORPUNT, for
I, Novgorodny Vir, have returned! WATER DECK? Who? KRILL CAVALRY is the top team
these days, buddies! A certain someone should cut down on the drinking and practice
more, after losing 7 points to PINE LEAF. (Discrete enough, KING BROWN SNAKE?) A
certain someone saw WARTORTLE at The Warty Toad with the shakes, and now he fails to
show up to defend his throne. What a pathetic slob! What can be a greater victory?
TENTACRUEL has taken his place as the top, as ZORPUNT's new Duelmaster. So who's the
team that's been walking into taverns last week and ordering milk? Sounds like a PR
stunt to me.
A Zenmaster once told me, 'Does not the spinning wheel turn? And do not the
little birds cry out?' Any ideas? Like a horde of jackals fleeing from the lion, so
did the "warriors" in ZORPUNT avoid RESCUE RANGERS. Like a pup with its tail between
its legs, WATER DECK scurried away from RESCUE RANGERS. Oh, the shame! Is it
charming personality? Conversational abilities? Good oral hygiene? Whatever it is,
PINE LEAF is the most challenged warrior. TENTACRUEL challenged STONEFISH! Who says
WATER DECK are just a bunch of wimps! TENTACRUEL of WATER DECK kept his wits as he
bested STONEFISH.
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Questions are
being raised about the disposing of severed body parts in the arena. A certain
tavern in ZORPUNT would I avoid!
Do not think spyreporting in ZORPUNT is the highlight of my life. More
important duties call me. Can anything compare to the pleasure of writing Spyreports
for ZORPUNT? On that giddy note I take my leave-- Novgorodny Vir

4 May 2005
Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to
address and clarify.
     1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection.
Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena
(except for arena 82, I believe).
     2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there
be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules
(i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team).
     3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the
Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the
         match!
     4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6
months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used
within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on
         any warrior regardless of FE.

P.S. My thanks to those already entered (Hammer, The Consortium, Tripwire, Stik, and
Shaman) and hope many more find a reason to come to arena 54. Again, my email is

you need more info!

Amendment for "Fratsfas Quest for the Best!"
Managers that have teams already established in Fratsfa need not have (3) three
warriors in the initiates. FE will NOT be a factor. Stables may be entered at any
time. Just announce your stable in the p-ads.
     ***************************************************************************
This in my invitation to all managers who wish to prove their mettle against
managers from all over Alastari. We have limited TP's in this contest to one a team
at a time. We DO NOT want this contest to become a scum fest as many others have,
hence the Andorian arena. Good luck to all who come to prove their skills. "May
your enemies' blood flow freely" -- Dark Knight Toker, Desolate Empire Alliance
