                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

We love it when our plan works! I've only had eleven fights and yet I sit above two
of my teammates who are known for their prowess, and Joe and Pine (the twins, we call
'em) who are grizzled veterans. I know it should be Wartortle here and not I, but
what can I do?

I'm not challenging this turn--I guess I'll be fighting the first arena stand-in in
my career. Seems not possible in such a small arena as ours--but it's true.

Boss changed his mind on a few things--he always does.

Tentacruel

P.S. Yes, my cap is in the shape of an octopus. So?

                                      SPY REPORT

You elder fighters surely remember me. The younger ones may call me Olaf
Modeen. I return to ZORPUNT once again! Woof! KRILL CAVALRY were a bunch of dogs
after WATER DECK got through with 'em! 2nd ain't so sweet as 1st! What's with TIGER
SHARK? He actually beat ZORPUNT's CONVICTED ASSASSIN, and walked away with 12 more
points from the fight. Major screwup at AUSSIE KILLERS. KING BROWN SNAKE lost 3
points to BUBBA JONES. Some new strategies, perhaps? Maybe KING BROWN SNAKE will
provide more easy wins... PINE LEAF was reminded on the sands why TENTACRUEL is
Duelmaster. I suppose you want to hear some rumors and dirty gossip about your
fellow fighters? Tough!
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... What do people see in
BILL POOLE? His 6-4-1? KRILL CAVALRY ain't talkin', but he's got 23 points. Taunt
your opponent JOE POOLE! That was my lucky charm when I was unfairly challenged.
(and by 17 points!) GYRADOS should have an easy win. I have to get this off my
chest. What a low dog, GYRADOS! He can't set himself up in a real match. I was
sorry to see JOE POOLE lose. Keep challenging up 26 points, REEF SHARK, and I won't
have to write about you much longer. BILL POOLE always accepts those kind of
challenges... Sometimes what you expect to do (like in the fights) doesn't expect to
turn out like you thought. REEF SHARK subdued BILL POOLE. It don't make sense.
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Many a warrior has met his fate in a hungover stupor. You
young rapscallions, take note!
Many other cities have retirement homes for aged warriors. Any plans here?
ZORPUNT is a nice place to live, but I don't like to live in nice places.
Remember--a good fighter needs both good skills and good luck. Until next time,--
Olaf Modeen

King Brown Snake -- I suppose it was the St. Patrick medal that did for you. And it
pleased me that it should be so. After all, someone has to keep you humble. -- Pine

Death Adder -- All that effort for two skills? Maybe in your next incarnation, you
should be a Skill Adder. -- Bill Poole

Tiger Shark -- No way I'm going swimming in those waters! -- Joe Poole

Vaporeon -- Well, that's a neat trick, going all vaporous when I hit at you. But you
have to remember to solidify when you try to hit at me. Still, I didn't mind the
win. -- Bubba Jones

It almost amazes me that the Osksi Noble isn't a dwarf. I understand how the
citizens of Khalhums are fanning out looking for work everywhere, but they must be
able to do SOMETHING besides fight as arena standbys! Maybe we should all chip in to
endow a school to teach them useful trades. -- Trina Lark

These one-sheet newsletters are certainly fast to read. But somebody else COULD get
active here (a twenty-three line spy report?), write personals (thanks for the
column, Wartortle), and so on. It would make the place look alive (appearances can
be so deceiving...). -- Leeta

Amendment for "Fratsfa's Quest for the Best!"
Managers that have teams already established in Fratsfa need not have (3) three
warriors in the initiates. FE will NOT be a factor. Stables may be entered at any
time. Just announce your stable in the p-ads.

This in my invitation to all managers who wish to prove their mettle against
managers from all over Alastari. We have limited TP's in this contest to one a team
at a time. We DO NOT want this contest to become a scum fest as many others have,
hence the Andorian arena. Good luck to all who come to prove their skills. "May
