                             Notes from the arena champ.

Caleam, let's try this again. I hope this one makes it in, because I've had a great
run and who knows how long it will last?

Splinter, you've been a fine opponent. I noticed your comment wondering whether or
not I was avoiding, so I'll put your concerns to ease. I've never used an avoid and
I don't really plan on using it, especially as Duelmaster. Everyone should get their
chance. If you, or someone else, can beat me then you deserve to have the top spot.
To be honest our contests have been a little surprising. I'm not really the kind to
kick-and-tell but we both know about what I'm talking.

Sailor Venus, I thought that fight was not going to go well for me, especially
considering my performance in the first minute. Maybe I just had a case of the
jitters. Still I felt I settled down nicely into the third minute.

Good luck to all challengers! I'm having a helluva time!

Fire

                                      SPY REPORT

Well, what are you looking at, CALEAM? Ain't you never seen Snide Clemens
before? Ah, shaddup and listen to my news. If this keeps up, WARCKERS, you'll have
to shine swords instead of use them. A drop of 4 in the rankings? WENSINWASIN
5.5.2. turned their 1-0-0 turn into a 9th place rank in the listings this turn. Any
better than this, and you get put on hit lists. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see SEETHER win a fight and gain 21 points, terribly. And if variety is
the spice of life, CALEAM may be getting bland, as FIRE stays top dog in the city.
Kickbacks and bribes, kickbacks and bribes, how else do you think some of these guys
win their fights? Skill? Ha!
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. HEADBANGERS, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were
this turn's most avoided team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who
led the way in this mass act of cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was
SHERWOOD FOREST. Ha ha ha ha! ROSIE was challenged more times this turn than the
Duelmaster. Now was the DM insulted or feared? Heh, heh. I notice ROSIE
challenging down 24 points to fight PLATYPUS, HEADBANGERS doubtless has some rotten
excuse for such an insult to honor. Question now is, will CALEAM accept this sort of
tacky behavior? ROSIE beating PLATYPUS. The insult, the....yech! I guess I can
give a little credit to MORAAT of RAJHAN'S PRIDE for challenging up by 21 to POPPA
LODE. MORAAT lost to get 24 points of recognition. And we have HAMMERFALL in a
challenge, going down 12 points for the fight. Guess what? I thought HAMMERFALL
showed great skill and promise when he was subdued by LIONFISH. All right, so I
slept through it! Big deal!
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. We're all going to die in the end, so why
worry if the fate catches up with you sooner that later?
What does the CALEAM arena have in common with the inns? It's just as
comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Just wait 'till next time I show
up here, I won't be so nice! So nyaaah! Glad to see the back of this place-- Snide
Clemens

Papaiz -- It seemed like such a simple deal.... Good to see you care so much. -- SOV

Lionfish -- Well, looks like a desperation strat finally paid off. Lucky me! --
Hammerfall

Cane Toad -- Are you called that because you need a cane to get around? -- Rosie

Miss Priss -- Dang! You didn't act intimidated by my name at all. Not even a
little. What's up with that? -- Doomsday

Koribus -- I am innocent! In no way did I bribe the commission to pair us up. Well,
maybe just a little, but I didn't think they'd do it. Nice seeing you again anyways.
-- Splinter

SoV -- I decided that this FtF, I am going to get a single room. In fact it is
already reserved. As for your question of why I am going? Let's just say it may be
my last kick at the cat... -- Papaiz
P.S. You better go, you owe me a bear!!! It'll be my birthday.

Lord Vang -- I'll share mine Papaiz@shaw.ca. You still haven't told me if you are
going. -- Papaiz

Hammerfall -- Well at least one of us had a satisfactory performance in that contest.
Too bad it wasn't me. -- Lionfish

Rosie -- Now that was embarrassing! -- Cane Toad

Khalhums Dwarf -- I hope it doesn't seem like we were picking on you. -- Ruby and
Pink
P.S. Actually you fought very well.

But you WERE picking on him. Do you know how HARD it is to get trained Khalhums
     Dwarves since that arena closed?

Go-fer -- Now what was that? A go-pher stand-in? -- Blackadder

Freak -- That was quite a spectacle on the sands; a freak and a platypus in the
arena! -- Platypus

Courtney Bourtney -- My mum told me never to hit a lady, but then you were swinging
at me too! -- Massasaugus

SOV -- A wager? A friendly contest of skill and chance? I am quite willing, son!
I'll ponder some details as well... -- Lord Fang

All -- If my eyes do not fail me, the momentous Turn 500 rapidly approaches. I'm
considering a team spotlight. Anyone else interested? -- Lord Fang

All right, all right, we're late with these. It's next month already. What can I
say? We ate too much. -- Leeta, Golden Canyon

Rosie -- Gosh, woman, be CAREFUL! What if my hand slipped? I mean, I'm AIMING for
your arm, but what if I missed? Or you deflected the parry and ended up with YOUR
head banged? I'd feel awful about it. -- Go-Fer

Ruby -- I consider it a sneaky, underhanded thing that you are a neuter. Being a
golem is bad enough, but you should at LEAST be female! So people could say that
you're "a woman above rubies" or some such nonsense. Men like that. I can't imagine
why. -- Miss Priss

Blackadder -- I think I may be allergic to your venom. Or something they used in the
Infirmary. Anyway, I felt really rotten for several days after that debacle. Let's
not do it again. -- Koribus

Flower Power -- See? You don't have to squeak a challenge past to us to suck up our
skills. (sound of someone being hit upside the head) Uh, let me rephrase that....
Good fight. -- Bouncer the suddenly polite

Hammerfall -- Six skills! Definitely one of my BETTER students. -- Poppa Lode

Doomsday -- Don't I get to whine? I wanted to whine about it. -- Go-Fer

Papaiz -- 3 WT, 5 WL? I wondered where my replacement had gone.... -- Leeta
P.S. I'm four hundred miles away from the Commission office. I can't reach the
explective-delected replacement generator. But I have this horrid suspicion that
somewhere in the bowels of the golem there is a note attached to my account number
reminding it to give ME the worst replacements.

Cvurrent stuff--

Doomsday -- (doubtfully) I'm sure you're a gentleman at heart. Not like SOME
people. -- Miss Priss

Blackadder -- Gosh but you bite! Ouch. -- Go-Fer

Splinter -- Long time (at least, it seems like a long time), no see. You're always a
good student, but I'm not sure how much more I have to teach you. -- Koribus

Hammer 500-Hammer Run for the Roll Ups
                                  Hosted by Hammer

Niytyole Island DM 33 has dwindled to the point where as of T-482 [duedate
November 3, 2004] there were only 2 active stables listed with 3 inactive stables in
a once thriving and lively regular arena.
During the past 40+ cycles Hammer has been hosting the Hammer Run for the Roll
Ups in DM 33.
Thus far only the Ripper and Slasher categories have produced winners to claim
the 5 New Team Roll Ups Prize for being the first declared Style Master of their
respective categories to graduate.
Every contending stable has gone inactive for one reason or another, including
CASINO HAMMERZ, over the past several months.
Now DM 33 faces the harsh reality that if RSI chooses to close any arenas due to
little or no interest, Niytyole Island could very well head the list of endangered
regular arenas!
In an effort to preserve his beloved island, Hammer is announcing the
continuation of the Hammer Run for the Roll Ups; combined with the Hammer 500 which
will conclude both contests on T-500 [duedate July 13, 2005] should DM 33 continue to
remain open in the coming months.
     Attention Hammer Runners!
The Hammer Run is for 0 FE Basic Arena Warriors ONLY. Participants MUST Be
Declared in the P-ads On or Before their First DM 33 Basic Arena Fight to Qualify as
a Hammer Runner! Winners of Each Category will receive 5 New Team Roll Up Gift
Certificates mailed from RSI courtesy of Hammer! [On the condition that they
Graduate on or before T-500; see amended rules below!]
The following Style Master categories remain open with a listing of how many
declared contestants are still entered and their W/L recognition record at the time
of their disappearance from the Hammer Run competition:

STYLE MASTER CONTESTANTS WILL BE AWARDED TWO (2) GIFT CERTS AND ALL OTHER PRIZE
CATEGORIES WILL BE DECLARED NULL AND VOID BY HAMMER!!!!!!!!!
The purpose of this contest is to restore DM 33 to a lively and entertaining
arena!
Hammer is willing to foot the Prize bill in a last ditch effort to save Niytyole
Island from deletion if RSI and the Gladiatorial Commission decide that more arenas
need to be closed due to lack of participation and interest.
Should this effort fail to spare DM 33 from deletion, then Hammer is prepared to
transfer CASINO HAMMERZ to another arena if Niytyole Island is closed by RSI and the
Gladiatorial Commission.

Battle Royal 4
The Battle Royal arena contests are one of the purest tests of manager skill
available. The rules are simple. The scoring is simple. The updates are live. If
you would like to participate, simply get a team ready in Talcama in the next month
and announce in the personals that you're in. The prize is bragging rights and
having your name along side previous winners (Doc Steele, Manray Frothingslosh, and
Manager). It is a brutal contest, but it is a lot of fun!
Basic rules: No avoiding other contest teams. Score = Wins + Kills -- Losses.
Only fights against other BR teams count. First team to 25 wins!
BR4 begins in Talcama (DM 18) on turn 502, due on Jan 29, 2005.
