                             Notes from the arena champ.

It's a sad thing when the Khalhums Dwarf isn't a dwarf. I'd heard that times
were hard in Khalhums, something about the Mountain Trolls taking over the town and
eating the dwarves, but I hadn't realized things were THIS bad. Is there something
we can do about it? I mean, a short Aruaki with a pasted on beard just doesn't make

                                      SPY REPORT

Thankyouthankyou. It's great for me, The Unknown Spymaster to be back in
CALEAM. Hope you enjoy the show. Oh, who am I kidding? I already got paid! Hey
everybody, watch out for DELICIOUS, who flew up 6 points in the rankings after
mashing GOLDEN ONE like a melon. Keep your eye on this gal. Ya know, some days it
doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. POPPA LODE lost to M. CHARDINEE and drops 15
points. Our last turn's Duelmaster has lost, folks, lost to VIRGINAL CONCUBINE, and
BOUNCER has made the way for a new Duelmaster! 4 out of 5 gladiators surveyed
protect the body, so try and avoid aiming at that location.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the CALEAM arena.
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Remember: alliances are great,
but try and take your ally in the arena with you and see what happens.
Well, that wasn't too bad; Alarond told me that the people in CALEAM have no
sense of humor. Or maybe that they were senseless. Okay, so I may not be the
world's best comedian, but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. Hasta la
bye-bye. (Loud choruses of 'Beat it, ya bum!')-- The Unknown Spymaster

should be! I'm immortal, and I'm BAD. -- Go-Fer

Hmm, that Virginal Concubine is quite a lady! And not QUITE as virginal as her name
would lead you to expect. -- Poppa Lode

Wow, the Visiting Orc is nasty if you don't feed him, isn't he? -- Korbel

Delicious -- Well, you saved us from having an all-standby turn, but I'm not sure I
like it. Why did it have to be ME, eh? -- Golden One

Arenamaster Tohre -- That is UNACCEPTABLE! I will protest this to the highest
levels! Kate expects ME to run errands! Sweep the floor! Wash glasses!

                             HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that
the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from
sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005.
What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common
DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of
selected arenas has become a far from fun experience.
In other words Hammer has had it!
The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to
effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship
interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from
his planned sponsorship of any future contests.
There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up
to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun
experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors.
Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the
Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the
time, effort and money spent over the past several years.
May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those
who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today.
Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history.

I'd like to say hello to everyone I know that is still around after my being gone for
five years. Hope to see you all on the sands, and may your weapons strike true and
your shields protect you (except, of course, against MY warriors *grin*)!! -- Lord
