DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Well, normally these things are written by the DM, but I think that this time, I'll
be doing the talking.
Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste. I've been around
for a long, long year....
Or not. Anyway, you can call me Ichabod Frothingslosh, of the late Frothingslosh
Syndicate. I've come and gone from DM a couple times now, but I initially started
playing back in either 1987 or 1988, back when I was still in high school. Caleam
was my third arena, having started in Sibikhas (37) and then expanded to Caer (48),
and Menagerie is my second team here. I don't even recall the name of the first, but
it pretty much sucked.
I have to say that it pains me to see Caleam down to 5 active teams. Way back when,
this arena had playing, at the same time: Mob Boss/Skrag (Pretty in Pink), Doc
Legrand (Doc Legrand's Lab), Crip (Worldwide Gore), Silk (Blackshirts), and Detective
Kellumbo (Headbangers, as Sablon-O-Vlad), along with a dozen or so folks I can't even
recall these days. Even when I came back in 2002-2003, there were a few more guys
than this.
Ah, well, enough misty-eyed reminiscing, I guess I'll see you all on the sands.
SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly CALEAM games. Former top team MEDAL OF HONOR F7 was
unseated this week as ULTRA-VIOLENT moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot
with a 4-0-0 record for the round. Warriors--remember that glory waits always around
the corner! Witness how this week MENAGERIE went 3-2-0 to move up 3 in the rankings.
Did only my eyes note the 4-0-0 record which ULTRA-VIOLENT managed to post this
round? I don't doubt that such a record will draw challengers! DEATH RATTLE caught
the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested VHOU WANGO and
was awarded 13 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels,
KUNG-FU MASTER put down DRALION, causing her to lose 20 points of recognition in the
process. Although NOBLE ASSASSIN made a valiant effort, it did not suffice to topple
the reign of victorious IRIS. No confirmation, but my sources claim that the top
team has gained their position using magical aids. Charmed weapons perhaps?
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city CALEAM. I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this week's
challenge seeking began. STEEL CRUSADE is feared. This much I can say. Methinks
more than a few here could name the guild it was that spent the better part of last
week avoiding STEEL CRUSADE. Indeed it was MENAGERIE.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Dark alleys may hide both secrets and assassins. In the arena
there is only the brightness of steel. Keep vigil always!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? More than a sharp eye must I keep, indeed a
stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await me!
Till next we meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a
different story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

PERSONAL ADS
Dralion -- Well, this is a bit of a challenge. It sounds like some kind of salad
with exotic greens, but I don't do salads, you know. Not my "thing." Still, I might
be able to do something with the plum jam, a sort of jelly-roll effect, to be eaten
WITH the salad. Which, of course, would have to have plums in it. -- Suzette Creppay
Borderline -- Are you nuts? I do fast food, I don't have TIME for fancy trimmings.
If they don't like my crown roast with a hat on every rib, they can eat elsewhere. --
Short Order Joe
Gut Buster -- Tricky. You had me laughing so hard at that totally WEIRD color
combo--avocado, peach, and turquoise? So DATED--that I wasn't able to give any
attention to the fight. -- Corot Toro
Soldier 22 -- Sort of a "catch" deal, I take it? I believe my preference is for the
renowned Fifty-Seven Varieties. -- Kettelman
Homer Wise -- Huh, I guess the whole nutmeats weren't such a bad idea after all. If
they're pecans. Black walnuts would overpower the dough. -- Spitzin
Calonymus -- Come to me, my friend! -- Suzette
Heart Breaker -- It's true that liver and onions is not my best dish, especially when
it's my liver. -- Kettelman
Flesh Flayer -- AND a little cayenne pepper, don't forget. -- Short Order Joe
Cnut -- (severely) Too much vodka and it doesn't matter what kind of borscht it is.
-- Kettelman
Jorja -- Looks like I'm going to have to have a little chat with Borderline. I don't
know what he has against your team, but despite appearances I'm *NOT* sending him out
there to try to get kills! -- Ichabod
Cnut Cnuklz -- I got the revenge without declaring an actual bloodfeud, that
shouldn't count. Let Death Rattle get a shot then it'll be over. -- Flesh Flayer
P.S. I prefer pigs cnuklz.
All -- Most challenged warrior, you're going to make me blush. Bring on whomever
wants to go a few rounds. I'm an equal opportunity impaler. -- Heart Breaker
31 May 2008
Any and all who live in the 805 area, I would like for you to call me so we can get
together for BBQ's, softball games, and so on. It has been a while since the last
get together (several years). It was a blast and I am sure the next one will be
also. We just have to do it. All alliances are welcome. Just because my warriors
leave your warrior beaten and bloody in defeat does not mean we can't have a beer or
five together. I'll even buy the first round. So call 805-588-3419 and ask for Dave
a.k.a. Misfit, former member of the Green and Purple Polka Dot Alliance (GAPPDA).
