Since the disappearance of her benefactor, the beautiful Elven maiden had spent countless months in prayer at the Crimson Ascension Temple at Hammerz Flowered Gardenz Morya Manor Estate on the Lake northwest of Morya. She had long since closed Hammerz Flowered Shoppe, having wearied herself from trying to explain the absence of Hammer to the countless customers who sought the famous veteran manager in the shadow of the fabled Morya Arena. Morya Arena was located a mere five blocks east from Hammerz Flowered Garden and GimLee could hear the sounds of gladiatorial combat training wafting on the softly blowing Morya morning breeze. After Lady Martilyo had vanished from the Crimson Ascension Temple, followed by the unexplained disappearance of Hammer, it fell upon the shoulders of GimLee to lock the doors of Hammerz Flowered Shoppe to initiate a prayer vigil. ElGon the Half Elf had been forced to close his Madness Wagerz booth inside Hammerz Flowered Shoppe to help attend to more pressing matters at Hammerz Flowered Gardenz Morya Manor Estate on the Lake. GrimmDorr the Warrior Dwarf had continued his vigilant drilling of the Dwarfs Militia to assure that Hammerz Flowered Gardenz was well protected, irregardless of the mysterious absence of his longtime friend and comrade in arms Hammer. He expected the veteran manager to return as suddenly and unexpectedly as he had unexplainably vanished. However, the training of arena warriors had slowly dwindled into nothingness over the course of time as GrimmDorr set his priority upon the security of the Estate. This included the security of the underground mining of the gold and precious stones that provided Hammer the wealth to finance his adventures and Estate, so GrimmDorr spent most of his time focusing on the Dwarfs Militia. Hidden somewhere in the bowels of the massive tunnel complex deep beneath Hammerz Flowered Gardenz Morya Manor Estate on the Lake, the Sisters of the Sword spent most of their time in the sanctuary of their Sanctum Sanctorum. The five members of the Flowered Hammerz stable had half heartedly continued their gladiatorial training in the seclusion of their self imposed exile, awaiting the now seemingly doubtful return of their manager Hammer. Although it was GrimmDorr who actually oversaw their training when they were an active stable in Morya Arena, the formerly lethal and in recent weeks lethargic ladies drew their focus from Hammer. Hammer had been the heart and soul of their inspiration to dance upon the sands of Morya Arena, but their competitive fires were like dying embers in their warrior souls as a result of his prolonged absence. GimLee made sure that provisions from the kitchen of Salty Pepper Steak were being properly consumed by the Sisters of the Sword. After all, the Half Orc lady chef had continued to serve her famous delicious recipes as though Hammer was merely occupied with one of his famous adventures. Hammer would not find Salty Pepper Steak to be slack in her duties during his prolonged absence! She just acted and talked as though Hammer were on a short adventure that would bring him back in a matter of a few short days. This attitude consistently exhibited by Salty Pepper Steak served as an encouragement and confidence builder that convinced GimLee that her lost love would one day return to Morya again. GimLee prayed the more fervently and served in the Crimson Ascension Temple with a faith that would not be denied. Suddenly a vision was revealed to GimLee late one night that would forever change her life. The next morning she made her way swiftly to the Sisters of the Sword secret secluded Sanctum Sanctorum, where she boldly confronted the Flowered Hammerz stable members. Black Rose Hammer, Venus Trap Hammer, Briar Stem Hammer, Thorn Stem Hammer and Poison Ivy Hammer quickly noted the glow that beamed outwardly from GimLee. They had just befgun their morning exercises when GimLee boldly interrupted their session. Black Rose Hammer motioned for her Sisters of the Sword to lay down their weapons and give GimLee their undivided attention. The beautiful Elf maiden was bubbling with excitement as she shared with the Sisters the essence of the vision she had received the previous night. "Hammer is returning to Morya Arena from SomeWhere BeYond the Realms of ElseWhere and ElseWhen!" "He spoke to me to prepare you ladies for his return! GrimmDorr is even now contacting the Gladiatorial Commission to reactivate the Flowered Hammerz stable to immediately dance upon the Morya Arena sands not many days hence!" "You are to report to GrimmDorr for some specialized training sessions to sharpen your talents and get the cobwebs out of your heads!" Each Sister of the Sword nodded their assent as the reality of what was taking place began to lift their fighting spirits from the pits of despair! ElGon the Half Elf had begun drawing up plans to print handbills announcing the reopening of Hammerz Flowered Shoppe, including the resumption of his taking bets on the arena fights at his Madness Wagerz booth in the Flowered Shoppe. GimLee paused at the door of Hammerz Flowered Shoppe as she reflected upon how Salty Pepper Steak had taken charge to prepare a welcome home feast for the return of Hammer to Hammerz Flowered Gardenz. She turned the key in the lock and entered the spacious store, where she immediately began setting things in order and tidying up the Shoppe. Several hours later the wagon loads of flowers from Hammerz Flowered Gardenz were arranged in neat displays and several longtime customers had already made purchases before she closed up the Shoppe for the night. Then she went to her private room to bathe and refresh herself, plus get some much needed rest on her Perfumed Petunia Bed. As she gazed longingly at herself in her full length mirror, which was an Elven Mirror of Migration that Hammer had given her oh so long ago, she let out a startlingly innocent scream as a battle weary Hammer emerged through the enchanted glass and crumpled into her waiting arms! Hammer began whispering instructions to GimLee as she guided the trail worn veteran manager to her waiting bed.... "May Your Blades Be Sharp and Your Wits Sharper!" That last fight with Crictor was downright ugly, and Valerian has been giving me some seriously evil looks lately. If I go missing under mysterious circumstances, you can bet that bloody lass had something to do with it! In-team rivalries aside, though, the pickings are getting awfully thin up here. Third time's a charm, so Crictor's out. Guess that leaves you, Rental Car. Try not to run me over, eh? I've got enough problems without that. -- Anferrous, the strangely morose SPY REPORT Good day, friends and fiends, welcome to your friendly neighborhood spyreport. I doubt MORYA will ever be the same. The SONS OF MARS guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and deserves to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can lead. And let's see, BLOOD HAWK fought WHITE BECT and gained 25 points and contributed to DODGE BULLETS' 1-4-0. WHITE BECT has lost to BLOOD HAWK, falling 19 points, while helping make THE PENTARCHY a 1-4-0 turn. Due to his absence and inability to defend the throne, ANFERROUS has lost the title of Duelmaster. We should ask BLACK ROSE HAMMER about the thrill of victory, and what being the new Duelmaster does for a warrior, she's now the one to ask. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at Arthur's Last Stand? Oriental wise man once say, 'Hiding behind shields prevents proper sun tanning.' Inscrutable, but true. SONS OF MARS has cause to stand tall, as they were MORYA's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a team to beat. And guess who avoided SONS OF MARS stable the most? Believe it or not, it was FORCE OF FIVE. Anyone surprised? The most challenged warrior this turn was THE PENTARCHY's warrior PATTE DE SAGUAR. More fighters challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to be true. DODGE BULLETS has lost STONEWALKER to the arena in the sky, but they don't seem to be worried. What do you expect from 5-8-0? Kudos go out to LUCIUS SULLA this turn, for revenging SONS OF MARS' bloodfeud against FREE MASONS' warrior ECHO. Well done. Congratulations go out to PHANTACITY, with VRTOGLAVA revenging a bloodfeud against PATTE DE SAGUAR of THE PENTARCHY. A brave warrior does not carry a red shield, he has nothing to cover or hide when the fight is over. Consider well. Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare to fight bravely. Always good to rest in MORYA, but never good to wear out my welcome. Look for me in future turns. Yes, okay, I *can* do it totally out of my own ideas and crews, but why not be involved, eh? -- Jorja/ the Scribe 19 June 2010 *********************************************************************** *********************************************************************** ALLIANCES OF ALASTARI *********************************************************************** *********************************************************************** *********************************************************************** COME ONE, COME ALL MEET NEW FRIENDS AND FORM NEW TEAMS WIN ROLLUP CERTS AND RSI SPONSORED PRIZES ************************************************************************************* THE TURF WAR IS HERE AGAIN!!!!! ************************************************************************************* *TURF WAR VII RULES* Starting Nov 2010 (12 turns) Bring acclaim and glory to the North Fork (DM47) arena. Anyone may participate; known alliances, new alliances, or temporary alliances created solely to compete in the Turf War! To participate, each alliance must: 1. Announce the Captain of the alliance in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter. 2. Indicate in the newsletter which Captain/alliance you will join. 3. Announcements made on the D2 Forums or elsewhere will not be accepted. Captains are responsible for: 1. Verifying/authorizing, in the North Fork newsletter those who wish to participate under the banner of their alliance. (Lack of participant indication of joining and/or lack of lack of Captain confirmation will delay a team's participation in the Turf War.) 2. Distribution of prizes should their alliance win the Turf War. 3. Submit two (2) RSI Roll-Up Certificates to participate. (Note: Captains may, if they wish, submit certs for all potential members of their alliance.) Participating managers who are not Captains must: 1. Submit two (2) RSI Roll-Up Certificates to participate (Unless already submitted by Captain. Note: extras will not be returned, but will go into the winning pool of prizes.) 2. Announce their intent to compete with manager name, team name, and alliance they will represent in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter. Announcement made on the D2 Forums will not be accepted. a. No scores will be tabulated until an RSI Gift Certificate is received, and participant indication and captain confirmation are posted in the North Fork newsletter. NO EXCEPTIONS. b. Before a manager can compete, he/she must declare themselves in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter as stated above AND be verified in the newsletter by the alliance Captain they will represent. c. Only one (1) team per player may compete. No multiple teams or aliases will be allowed. Violations will result in immediate disqualification (including team point adjustments) from the Turf War (so be sure to take any multiple teams OFF of Team Maintenance and be certain not to run any other team warriors). d. Scoring will NOT be retroactive for teams/alliances that do not properly declare or get captain confirmation or fail to send a Gift Certificate by Turn 1. In other words, if your Gift Certificate is not received until Turn 3 of the Turf War, and you have fought on Turns 1 and 2, your score will not begin until Turn 3. All conditions must be met before scoring will begin--declaration, verification, and Gift Certificate received. e. No declarations or verifications will be accepted after Turn 5 of the Turf War. f. For purposes of scoring, the moderators will score the Turf War and settle any and all disputes as they arise. Their decisions will be final. (Note: the intent is to have a very thorough set of rules so that few decisions, if any, are required from the moderators.) Scoring will be as follows for Fights: Win Loss Kill Die Up Challenge +2 -2 +5 -5 Down Challenge 0 -2 0 -5 Match Up +1 -1 +1 -5 Bloodfeud Challenge (Up or Down) +2 -5 +5 -10 Champion ** x2 x2 x2 x2 Dark Arena* +10 -5 xx xx Tournament Death*** -5 Halfway (6 round total) best alliance win/loss percentage **** Final (12 round total) alliance w/l% percentage **** *After 2nd win in DA, warrior scores no additional points for wins, ** A Champion's double score applies to his score only -- not to the opponent. *** No warrior may be substituted without the proper use of the DA or arena death or death in a tournament. There must be a maximum of five only on a team at any point and time. (The penalty for such substitution is -10 points.) Points awarded for tournament participation are 5 for any entrant, 15 for a TV and 25 for a TC. Death in a tournament negates any tournament points gained and results in a-5 score. ***** Halfway points scored are 25, 20, 15, 10, 5, 5, 5 (etc) for 1st, 2nd, 3rd (etc). (to qualify for any of these points the alliance must have fought 75% of its possible fights.) Final 12 Round points scored are 40, 30, 20, 15, 10, 5, 5, 5 (etc) for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd (etc). (to qualify for any of these points the alliance must have fought 75% of its possible fights.) Special Scoring Considerations for the Turf War are as follows: Spy Report mention (team name only) +2 1. No matter how many mentions or stylemasters, an individual team can score only +2 in each category per round Style Master +2 1. No matter how many mentions or stylemasters, an individual team can score only +2 in each category per round Duelmaster +2 Champions: 1. A Champion may be declared, but one is not mandatory. 2. Only one Champion allowed per manager at any given time. 3. Champions that graduate or are killed by another warrior in the arena, but not the Dark Arena, may be replaced. 4. Champions must have fought at least one previous fight in the North Fork (DM47 arena) to be able to be declared a champion. Bloodfeuds: 1. Bloodfeuds will score points on all four (4) turns. 2. There is no limit to which warrior may bloodfeud or how often. Tournament Considerations: 1. Tournament participation is ALLOWED and encouraged. 2. Tournament Victors won during the course of the contest will gain a one (1) time bonus of 25 15 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a warrior(s) wins such status. 3. Tournament Champions won during the course of the contest will gain a one (1) time bonus of 50 25 points. This bonus will apply EACH time a warrior(s) win such status. 4. Points awarded for tournament participation are 5 for any entrant, (15 total for a TV and 25 total for a TC.) However, death in a tournament will result in a -5 score for that tournament. (If a warrior TV's and is subsequently killed in a tournament the points scored are -5 for that tournament.) 5. Points for TVs and TCs and tournament deaths will be applied the Turn after RSI posts tournament results in the North Fork (DM 47) newsletter (i.e., if the results post on North Fork turn 275, points will be credited on North Fork turn 276 to the applicable teams). Special Considerations: 1. Each alliance begins the Turf War with zero (0) points. 2. There will be NO alliance or team changes once the contest has begun. If you begin the Turf War with Alliance A, you must end the Turf War with Alliance A. If you begin the Turf War with Team A, you must end the Turf War with Team A. 3. There will be a maximum of five (5) teams allowed per alliance for the Turf War VII. 4. The Dark Arena may be used on the first turn only, of every warrior, without penalty. Prizes: The Turf War is normally a "winner take all" contest. However, for TWVII, a prize will be awarded each of the twelve turns to the individual team/manager that fights five fights and has the best w/l record that turn. (Tiebreakers are in order - kills, recognition points earned.) All prizes and 100% of the Gift Certificates will be awarded to the Captain of the winning alliance at the end of the competition. It is the responsibility of the Captain to distribute Gift Certificates. Moderators will submit a list of each manager on the winning alliance to RSI at the completion of the contest for the non-Certificate prizes. All entry fees (rollup certs) are awarded to the winning alliance, except for the twelve reserved for the individual winning manager each week.) The following prizes have been secured from RSI: 1. Renaming of the North Fork (DM 47) arena; 2. Renaming of all Dark Arena Monsters (two for each manager in the winning alliance); 3. Known Favorites for one warrior on each team of the winning alliance (warrior must be ranked Initiate or above, must be alive, and must have at least one DM47 arena fight to receive this award). 4. +1 Skill bonus potion for each manager on the winning alliance. Bonus potion must be applied to a living warrior from (DM 47) 5. +1 Skill bonus potion (one) for each and every individual manager who fights in all 12 rounds AND 54 fights of the Turf War. Bonus potion must be applied to a living warrior from (DM 47) These RSI awards will be listed by the Moderator for claiming from RSI (Lee) within 4 turns of the end of TW VI. The certs will be mailed to the winning alliance by the Moderators within two weeks of the end of the TW. Moderators: The Moderators for this event will be Oz and Master Darque. They will arbitrate all dealings during the course of the contest. Their decisions will be final. All questions, comments, and scoring disputes may be directed to Land of Oz or Darque Forces via diplo in DM 47. Managers with internet access may send a private message to [The Consortium] or [Darque] on the Duel2 Forums. Lastly, you may also email questions, comments, and scoring disputes to rebelnerfherder at yahoo dot com or wfms101 at aol dot com. Please note there have been rule changes from the last Turf War. For those of you who always wanted the chance to manage the last warrior standing alive upon the arena sands, your day has come. At the end of the ten turns, even though several warriors, bruised and scarred, MAY yet live, only one will be crowned Champion of the Bloodgames. And in this game mere survival counts for little. A great general once said, "The object of battle is not to die for your cause, but to make your enemy die for his." This general would have greatly enjoyed the Duelmasters Bloodgames. There will be two different arenas: DM 98: for Face-to-Face attendees, with turn-by-turn strategies, and DM 99: for all managers, with one strategy for all ten rounds Gameplay proceeds according to standard DM rules, except for a few notable exceptions: BLOODGAMES ROLLUP -- Your Bloodgames team is ten warriors, one of each fighting style, each warrior designed from scratch! (All is 84 points, 3-21, as usual.) DEATH -- As the name implies, the Bloodgames will leave the arena sands somewhat darker before they're over. It's a dangerous sport intended only for the tough and spirited. The Arenamaster will be less likely to intercede on behalf of a dying warrior. Even at a 1 kill desire, kill attempts will occur. REPLACEMENTS AND ROLLUPS -- There will be no replacement characters. CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES -- In DM 98, there no regular challenges, only bloodfeuds. For DM 99, warriors may not change their strategy from round to round (to make it fair for those who could not attend the F-t-F). There will be no DA challenges. TURN PROCESSING AND DUE DATES -- If you are not attending the FTF, we must have your rollups and strategies by Wednesday, July 7, else they are due by 9pm on Friday, at the hotel. The Bloodgames will process at the FTF with the regular tournament. MISSED TURNS -- All warriors fight each round. Only the dead may rest. ERRORS -- If we make an input error, that warrior will be awarded a win and kill. Errors must be reported before the next turn processes. NEWSLETTER -- Warriors are ranked according to their number of kills. Champions of Bloodgames may write a column for the newsletter at the end of the games. FEES -- A Bloodgames rollup costs a $10 set-up fee. Managers may roll up more than one team but may run only one team in each arena. The fee for all ten rounds is $49. AWARDS -- The Bloodgames last ten rounds. Only warriors who survive to the end of Turn 10 will be eligible for an award. However, a consolation award of a Bloodgames T-shirt will be awarded to the dead warrior with the most kills. The living warrior with the greatest number of kills will be the Bloodgames Champion. Bloodgames Victor titles, 2nd and 3rd place, and Bloodgames Runner-up titles, 4th through 6th place, will be awarded to those living warriors with the greatest number of kills at the end of Turn 10, with one other important consideration: Each of these six warriors must be of a different fighting style. Win/loss records and, if necessary, recognition points will only be used to determine awards if there is a tie. A Bloodgames T-shirts will be awarded to the manager of the team with the most kills. The Bloodgames Champion fights for free in Advanced Duelmasters, and all Champions and Victors earn Tournament Victor status, which allows them to challenge once per turn with increased priority. These awards last for six months. The manager of the Bloodgames Champion, Victors, and Runners-up will receive Bloodgames T-shirts. AFTERMATH -- Warriors from the Bloodgames may not transfer to any other arena. Once the games are over, the arena and teams will be disbanded. The fighters have won their freedom and will never more be seen in the gladiatorial games. A special bonus will, however, be awarded to the 1st through 3rd place warriors. Lady Sheila Greywand, of the Isle of the Eye, has consented to allow the top three surviving gladiators in each Bloodgames admission to the Advanced Duelmasters Games. Any special training required to qualify those three warriors for Advanced Duelmasters combat will be conducted before transfer into A.D. Astute managers will note that this means a slim, but possible chance that a warrior designed from scratch will survive the Bloodgames, win one of the top three places, and go on to glory in A.D. That warrior could be yours! The challenge is yours to take. The final plans are yours to make. When the dust settles, remember: To the victor goes the spoils!
