TEAM SPOTLIGHT
The cemetery was still and quiet. Row upon row of grave markers stood in
straight rank. They looked like stone soldiers of some silent army awaiting a
command from their general. Some of the markers were simple rectangle shaped piece
of white stone or marble. Some were that but had rounded edges. There were
religious symbols and obelisk. There were even some of sculptured busts. One would
suspect it was a likeness of the person buried there. Some of the markers had vases
with flowers.
A lone man walked amongst the graves. His clothes were somber. Boots, pants,
shirt; all black. He wore his long black hair in a combination top knot on the top
and the back cascaded over his shoulders. His beard and moustache were shaved and
trimmed thin. In his right hand he carried what looked to be a basket wrapped in
white cloth. The man weaved through the ocean of markers, and every now and then,
stopped to read a name. There was one in particular he was looking for.
After several minutes, he finally found the marker he was looking for. The
marker read, "Mary Mei. May you finally know peace."
The man placed the basket on the down and then kneeled on the ground. He then
sat back with legs which were folded beneath his thighs and rested on his heels. The
man rested his hands on the top of his thighs, palms down and his fingers close
together. He closed his eyes as if he was saying a silent prayer. When he opened
his eyes, he spoke aloud.
"Hello, Mary. This is Koroshiya. We have not formally met but perhaps you have
heard of me."
Koroshiya's modesty aside, she had heard of him. Every gladiator in Morya knew
who he was. He had been a duelmaster, after all. He'd also gains notoriety for
going 5-0-1 before his first loss.
"I come here to honour you. My biggest regret is that I never had the chance to
test skills with you on the sand. You, Accrued Interest, and I were probably the
most talented warriors of our style this arena has seen in a long time. I have
watched you two from the stand and I have to say that both of your skills were
impressive."
Once again, the young man was being modest. Koroshiya held back the part where
he felt that their techniques weren't as refined as his. He once thought that
Accrued Interest's technique was akin to a charging bull goring at whoever came too
close. But Mary had some sadness in her. It was some kind of demon that she wasn't
able to exorcise. If that demon was tamed, she would have been a deadlier force than
him.
Koroshiya undid the knot of the white cloth at the top of the basket and let it
fall to the damp grass. This revealed a wicker basket with twenty-four white lilies
resting on their sides in it. He then placed the basket with the lilies next to the
grave.
"Please consider this a token of my respect. Rest well, brave warrior."
Koroshiya stood and picked up the white cloth he had brought. He then walked
away folding the cloth into a square, stuffed it into his pocket, and walked away.

Farewell, sweet Morya. My fighting is finished until after my Champions run,
which will come some time in 2015 according to Assur. It has been too short!

SPY REPORT
The sages err'd not in their foretelling of a god descending upon MORYA, for I,
Novgorodny Vir, have returned! DODGE BULLETS? Who? EXPENSE ACCOUNT is the top team
these days, buddies! LORDS OF DISCIPLINE had cause to celebrate, after WICKER
GREMLIN got 23 points by beating JONAH. A certain someone should cut down on the
drinking and practice more, after losing 8 points to JUPITER. (Discrete enough,
SLINGER?) A certain someone saw EYE BAGS at Salty's Chowder House with the shakes,
and now he fails to show up to defend his throne. What a pathetic slob! What can be
a greater victory? TRAVEL has taken its place as the top, as MORYA's new Duelmaster.
Word has it one team in MORYA is taking speech lessons to try to bore their opponent
to death. I'll bet it works.
My mother wished me to avoid conflict, and seek the gentle trade of Spyreporter.
But warriors aren't supposed to avoid fights! Like a horde of jackals fleeing from
the lion, so did the "warriors" in MORYA avoid DODGE BULLETS. The warriors of DODGE
BULLETS found their efforts at combat frustrated as LORDS OF DISCIPLINE apparently
had more important things to do than fight. If challenges were horses, PLUTO could
open up a fast food joint! Do my ears deceive me? VENUS (outclassed by 27 points)
challenged POP TARGET, in what promises to be a fight.(!) It's not whether you win or
lose, but how many points you get (4). Right, VENUS? THUMPER challenged MONGO
CRUSH! Who says GHOSTWALKERS are just a bunch of wimps! THUMPER of GHOSTWALKERS
kept his wits as he was subdued by MONGO CRUSH. My love of complete Spyreports
dictates that I note the mismatched fight, MERCURY and TRAVEL. Are PLANETS unwilling
to engage in a fair fight? I thought MERCURY showed great skill and promise when he
was subdued by TRAVEL. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Is there life after death? Pragmatics (and warriors) know there is death after
life! Ask not for whom the sword slashes; it slashes for thee.
Do not think spyreporting in MORYA is the highlight of my life. Keep those
sands bloody and the buzzards fat! Can anything compare to the pleasure of writing
