TEAM SPOTLIGHT
"It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over!" -- Yogi Berra
The four 'strangers' casually, but purposefully, rode their war ponies along the
bustling streets of Morya, as vendors and the general populace alike prepared for the
upcoming gala event of the historic Turn 400 clash of combatants in Morya Arena.
After a few more twists and turns, the foursome guided their steeds to a
particular place of business, which by the looks of the dilapidated exterior, had seen
better days!
The tall man motioned his three companions to follow his lead, as he slowly, but
deliberately, extricated himself from the well-worn saddle, careful to keep his trail-
worn features from being viewed beneath the covering of his Elven War Cloak, in case
any curious onlookers were watching.
Entering the establishment, a battle-wizened old Dwarf greeted the foursome, a
spark of recognition flaring up in his eyes, as he whispered somewhat hoarsely, "Are
you-?"
The stern stare from the tall battle-worn adventurer caused the question to go
unasked.
Stepping back a pace or two, the Dwarf began to awkwardly change the subject.
"You know the young lass who used to run this Shoppe returned to her homeland
over five years ago?"
"I Know!" came the firm, but somewhat gentle reply.
"I heard she married a Royal Suitor - "
"I Was There!" interjected the adventurer a bit wistfully.
The Dwarf muttered an oath to himself as he tried to change the subject once
more, but he was at a loss for words, as the tall man slowly reached inside his Elven
War Cloak, while simultaneously staring intently at the befuddled Dwarf.
"These Ladies will be running the Shoppe now," stated the adventurer, as he
withdrew a bag of gold and handed it down to the old Dwarf.
A tear ran down the Dwarf's cheek as he gratefully accepted the generous bag of
gold.
"You have done a fine job here," said the man who towered over the Dwarf. "You
are free to stay on at the Manor if you like."
The old Dwarf merely shook his head.
"No," sighed the Dwarf, "Things are no longer the same out there by the Lake."
"How So?" asked the adventurer as kindly as he could.
"My old friends are either buried," sighed the Dwarf once again, "or they
vanished without a trace!"
"You are still welcome to reside at the Manor," countered the adventurer, "if you
change your mind."
The old Dwarf merely shook his head once more, before excusing himself with a
polite and reverent bow at the feet of the battle-scarred adventurer.
Then muttering another oath, he hastily gathered his belongings from a side room,
before exiting out a hidden trap door that provided a secret way of escape to a nearby
alley.
"I have business with the Gladiatorial Commission at Morya Arena," the adventurer
announced to his female companions, "so make yourselves at Home!"
The three beautiful Half-Elf Maidens began tidying up the Shoppe, as they
explored their new place of employment, thankful for the opportunity to begin a new
life in Morya.
[TIME JUMP]
A tired and overworked clerk raised his eyebrows with a quizzical and somewhat
humorous expression on his face, as the battle-worn adventurer towered above his desk.
He searched through some dusty tomes, muttering to himself while peering over his
spectacles, trying to jog some long lost memory from his foggy brain.
Upon finding the requested ledger, the clerk pondered upon whether or not to ask
the question that was scratching at some long lost memory that had been sparked by the
request.
"You look a bit familiar," the clerk cleared his throat nervously. "Would you be-
"
The stern look from the battle-scarred face beneath the hood of the Elven War
Cloak caused the clerk to swallow any further words that were trying to escape his
lips.
The adventurer tossed a few coins on the desk top.
"Activate the Stable!"
"But... but..." the clerk stammered, "it has been nearly six years since that
Stable was active!"
Another stern look subdued the clerk, who cautiously gathered the coins, put them
in his purse and hastily registered the Stable as active.
"There are only four Warriors in that Stable," ventured the clerk once more, "and
no one has seen them for years!"
"I will find them," answered the tall man in the Elven War Cloak. "They will be
glad to fight for me again in Morya Arena!"
The clerk merely nodded.
"Turn 400 is a fitting time for any all-but-forgotten Warriors to scrape the rust
off their swords and test their arms in Morya Arena!"
The clerk merely nodded again, as the adventurer had nothing further to say.
[TIME JUMP]
The three Half-Elf Maidens quickly settled into their new home and occupation.
Each had found a suitable sleeping quarters, stored their belongings, then set about
sprucing up the Shoppe and taking inventory, as well as examining the ledgers. These
were three Half-Elf Triplets who were glad to serve the One who had brought them here.
Had he not rescued them from a fate worse than Death? Offering them a New Life in
Morya? Soon the Shoppe was radiating with the personal touch of beauty as the purple
haired Violet, blonde haired Daisy and red haired Rose slowly, but surely, transformed
the Shoppe with hues of its former glory and gracious atmosphere!
They put the finishing touches on a new sign, enhancing the borders with their
namesake flowers, just as their benefactor returned.
"Well Done Ladies!" smiled the adventurer as they prepared to hang the new sign
outside to attract customers to the newly refurbished Shoppe. He kissed each of the
Triplets on the forehead, followed by a friendly squeeze, then helped them hang the
sign outside for all passersby to see.
"Time for me to ride out to the Manor," announced the tall adventurer. "You
Ladies should have no trouble here at the Shoppe!"
Each of the Triplets patted the Weapon of their choice, strapped to their shapely
hips, with a smile. "We will be fine!" they chorused in unison with a friendly wave
of their hands.
As the adventurer began his journey by horseback out of town, a curious crowd
began to gather, as their eyes beheld the freshly painted sign and the beautiful
Triplet Half-Elfs that beckoned them to enter the newly opened HAMMERZ FLOWERZ SHOPPE
that was now open for business!
[TIME JUMP]
As the battle-worn adventurer neared his destination, he was beset by a myriad of
memories at the sight of the partly ruined Hammerz Flowerz Gardenz Morya Manor Estate
on the Lake that had fallen into a sad state of disrepair! Only a small percentage of
the once mighty Dwarfs Militia remained to guard the grounds of his beloved home, in
the aftermath of a devastating battle!
He greeted each one, thanking them for their faithful service, acknowledging the
absence of buried or vanished comrades-in-arms; while vowing to restore the Manor to
its former glory and majesty in Morya, without much explanation as to why he had been
gone so long, or why he was here now.
Hammer was Home!
[TIME JUMP]
All the Servants were excited that the Master of the Morya Manor Estate on the
Lake had at long last returned from some unknown series of adventures SomeWhere BeYond
ElseWhere and ElseWhen! They busied themselves, making sure every single thing was in
order, or at least as comfy as they could make it, from what was still available in
the stores and larders of the Manor.
Hammer toured the premises and assured each Servant that Workers and Suppliers
were en route to restore the ruins and stores of the battle-scarred Manor.
As he entered the kitchen, Salty Pepper the Cook scolded him fondly for his
unexpected intrusion, as she made ready to serve a Great Welcome Home Feast to Honor
the Return of Hammer!
"Where Are They?" asked Hammer as Cook prepared a tantalizing beef stew!
"Where Do You Think?" snorted Cook as she scolded the Master of the Manor for
sneaking a taste of the goodies she and her helpers were preparing.
[TIME JUMP]
Hammer made his way through the labyrinth of tunnels beneath his Hammerz Flowerz
Gardenz Morya Manor Estate on the Lake.
Memories both Painful and Joyful flooded his mind, as he made his way to the
Sword Sisters Sorority Sanctum Sanctorum, where the surviving members of his Flowered
Hammerz Stable were wont to spend most of their daily hours in Seclusion and
Meditation.
He pounded on the door of their Underground Training Facility, as was his manner
to do, when he had business to discuss with his Stable of all-but-forgotten Warriors.
Slowly the door creaked open as four pairs of astonished eyes stared at him, as
if a Ghost were haunting their Secluded Sanctuary!
"Hammer!" "Hammer!" "Hammer!" "Hammer!" The four familiar warriors chorused
their surprise, as their long lost manager quickly assessed how nearly six years of no
combat in the Morya Arena had possibly eroded the skills and battle temperament of his
once proud stable.
After a few moments of affectionate hugs and kisses subsided, the legendary
manager fielded their questions one by one, but without very many satisfactory
answers.
Briar Stem Hammer broke an uneasy momentary silence by asking the question that
her comrades Poison Ivy Hammer, Blood Rose Hammer and Wild Daisy Hammer all wanted to
know?
"What brings uou here now, Hammer?"
The Veteran Alastari Manager merely grinned. "There is a Welcome Back feast at
the manor," was his coy reply, "and Cook expects you to be there in your places of
honor at our table!"
"Why?" the foursome chorused.
Hammer merely smiled as he handed each of the Lady Warriors their registration
papers, announcing Flowered Hammerz Activation for Turn 400 during the upcoming Morya
Arena Gala Festivities!
"Tonight we party! Then you only have a few days to whip yourselves bck into
fighting shape!"
SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out MORYA to see
what's new. Too bad, SEA DOGS, but BASH BROS BODY was just too good to be stopped.
LUNAE MILITES like really fought hard to move up to 7th from 11th. Way to go! One
team deserves special mention 'cause they moved up 1 after going 3-1-0. Keep it up,
NORTHERN BADLANDS! MVP award for GREY SNOW? UGLY URBAN ORCS' proud of him after
beating WAKKO WARNER and getting 28 points. Talk about yer big time losers! BULWYF
WARTOOTH got smashed by GRAVITY, and lost 18 points! Like, BAD MOON RISING must be
pretty gutsy! He challenged the Duelmaster from BIG LAKE PURE. Does this guy have a
death wish or what! This Duelmaster is like something else! VISCIOUS HATE stopped
BAD MOON RISING dead in his tracks! Is the Duelmaster really being a real snob to
his teammates? Don't ask me!
Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? SEA DOGS was the most avoided
team. Is a 211-176-16 record really that scary? I don't know what BASH BROS BODY's
been doing. They certainly haven't been accepting many fights from SEA DOGS, that's
fer sher. Like, is SIR KILLALOT popular, or what? He was challenged the most in all
of MORYA! He's got a 5-5-0, is that good? Ooh! Did ANGRY MOMENTUM really know what
he was doing when he challenged 12 BRAVO? A 13-12-1 speaks volumes. (Zontoni said
that. I don't know what it means.) What did ANGRY MOMENTUM expect, anyway! Of
course 12 BRAVO won. Next time stick to people you have a chance against, dummy!
See if I ever talk to WHITE DEVIL again! SLICE AND DICE was so low when He
challenged he. Hhmph! I was sorry to see such an unfair "fight" in MORYA. WHITE
DEVIL got 5 points after beating SLICE AND DICE, 20 points below him. DRUNKEN DONUT
must not be a good enough fighter to get in fair fights. He challenged THE
HIEROPHANT. 13 is a big difference. (Well, that's what they tell me.) I thought
DRUNKEN DONUT showed great skill and promise when he was overcame by THE HIEROPHANT.
All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
What does a fighter fight for? I mean, the crowds don't give a hoot if someone
gets killed. Not after four more fights. Pinch me, I must be dreaming!!! DA1
returns from the Dark Arena, maybe a "little upset" at his BIG SHOTS teammates...
Hey you guys, don't you think your families would like to hear from you? Write! (Or
have someone write for you.)
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it
