The bloodthirsty patrons are gone, the ravenous beasts are chained down below, but the smell of death still lingers about in the putrid air. In the blood darken sands of the pit, amongst the scattered debris of broken weapons and served limbs. A group of three strangers gather over a pound of flesh they once called their teammate.. Their friend.. Their companion.. One of the female figures turns away from the grizzly site, the tears that flow down her frail face can be seen shimmering in the moonlight. Another one this time a male figure steps forward and kneels down to salute his fallen comrade and say his good- byes. The solace these warriors must feel have no words or bounds. They silence says it all. The loss of this poor soul will be mourned... Rewrite: "Woooweee! Thats em troll dids a numberz on itz alrightz." That is if this was any other team except Will Duel 4 Mead. The trio all stands arounds the flesh mound with their Froth & Slosh Slurpies in hand. Rewrite: "Knocks the sh**z out of Gooz literlies." He points over to the still steaming pile of feces mixed with entrails a few feet away. Tomo: "That was the most brutal, disgusting, and uncivilized taking of another's life I have ever witness. I couldn't turn away! I'm almost sad it's over." Rewrite pokes the carcass with a stick. Rewrite: "Youz almost gots to feels sorries for itz. The ways Goos just kinds of stoodz therez those lasts fewz minutes getting whackeds overs and overs." Tomo: "It was already dead on its feet by then. I figured you knew since that one blow to the head in the fifth scatter it's brains all over the first three rows. Which you were sitting in bye the way." Rewrite: "Likes a chickenz with itz heads cutz off. Itz almosts mades mez want to puts down mez brew... Almosts." Just then Kyoko turns back to the group and wipes the tears away from her cheek. Rewrite: "Oh comes on manager. Youz can'ts tells mez youz actuallys going to mizz Gooz?" Kyoko hauls off and slaps the grimaces off Rewrite's ugly mug. Rewrite: "Ooowwwzzzzz..." Kyoko: "Don't be a imbecile! These aren't tears of sadness! Their tears of joy! It's gone! Just think of it. No more of the glutton eating every scrap of food in sight. No more slobbering cretin chewing on your good armor and rusting it. No more of it leaving little 'surprises' behind its wake to clean up. No more of the putrid aroma emanating from all places." Rewrite takes a whiff under his arm, and shrugs it off. Kyoko: "None of it! We're free! WE'RE FREE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" Kyoko runs off into the darkness hysterical laughter. Tomo: "You know, sometimes I worry about her." Rewrite: "Ain't nuffing a good nites lovin's woulds fixs." Tomo kneels down and begins to stab the remains over and over with a dagger. Tomo: "You know I will miss this though. Goo was the only one that would let me take out angst on. The rest of you cry like babies." Rewrite: "Thats because yourz stabbings uz with a knifes womans!" Tomo: "Goo never said a peep." Rewrite: "Thats becausez the singals for pains would takes so much times gettings to itz brains, itz woulds get losts on the ways therez." Tomo: "True enough. Well that's enough reminiscing. Goo you may have been the scourge of our existence, but everyone deserve at least one for the road. Adieu." Tomo pours the remainder of her mug on the remains. Tomo: "Rewrite pour the rest yours as well. It's bad luck if you don't." A stream of liquid pours of the carcass. Tomo's face turns in puzzlement as the mead has a unusual smell about it and the fact that it's producing steam. Her gaze rising upwards to find Rewrite relieving himself. Tomo: "OH THAT'S SICK!!" Tomo stands up and storms off, as Rewrite pulls up his draws and chases after her. Rewrite: "Youz said pourz the rests. I'ves finisheds mez mug threez minutes agos." Rewrite catches up with Tomo. Rewrite: "Wells besides thes points. Itz was a nice services. Don'ts ya thinks?" Tomo: "Whatever. But I like to know where Fluffy is at. We had to show up for this farce, why the hell didn't he?" Rewrite taps Tomo on the shoulder and points to the far end of the arena. Where we see Fluffy tied and gagged to a post, struggling to get free. Goliath his donkey is tethered aside him, awaiting the events of the next day. Tomo: "Pink slips in this business are brutal." Rewrite: "Yep." Tomo: "Sucks to be him. Lets hit the bar." Rewrite: "Nows yourz talkings mez lanuages." Tomo: "Is that even possible?..." The two walk out of the arena into the mist of the morn. * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * }%|[-----+O+-----]|%{ * Winds of Change It was sunny, but cold early morning, with a chilling wind blowing down the streets of Lapur. Two cloaked men slowly walked down the cobblestone, the wind at their backs causing their cloaks to wrap around them tightly. The shorter of the two slowed his pace looking around at the buildings, "This place looks nothing like I remember it," he murmured to himself. Overhearing his companion, he looked over and nodded in agreement, "Yes it has changed Kalimac, but what do you expect it has been nearly a decade since you were last here and nearly as long for me as well." Turning slightly to replied as the wind caught his hood uncovering his head, "I had forgotten it had been that long." Quickly he reached up and pulled the hood back into place as they continued down the street. Reaching the end of the block they spotted their destination and paused. Stepping around the corner to get out of the breeze, the taller one reached inside his cloak and pulled out a handful of parchments. Looking through them he then handed several to Kalimac, "Take these and get everything squared away, then meet me at the house.' Grasping the scrolls tightly in his hands, he nodded and headed across the street as ordered. Standing in front of the old house, he was pleasantly surprised at how good of shape it was in. He smiled to himself, "I knew my choice of Dirmael to watch over my interests here was a wise decision." Slowly he walked up the steps onto the porch, before trying the door knob. "Hmmm locked," he wondered to himself. Peaking in a window he saw the fireplace burning away with a warm fire, before stepping back to the door and giving it a firm knock. After waiting a moment he whispered to himself, "Well so much for surprising them. Guess I will have to wait them out." Having a seat in the nearest chair, he reached into his pocket and pulled out a bag of tobacco and rolled himself a quick smoke. Propping his feet up on the rail, he settled in. About thirty minutes later he could hear Kalimac's voice, followed by familiar laugh. Kalimac and Dirmael came up the walk, "Good to see you sir," replied Dirmael with a big grin on his face. "I knew I would be seeing you soon, after your message to send Tarondar to the tourney a few months ago." The Visionist rose up from his now warm chair and offered his hand to the Lapurian Lord Protector. "Good to see you as well old friend," he returned smiling. "How about we get inside out of this cold weather." Dirmael carried three mugs of warm cider into the parlor, handing one to each to his guests and one for himself. "This will help warm us up." "I see you have kept things in order here," stated the Mid Earth guild manager after taking a sip. "Other than keeping the men out of mischief and getting them to continue to train, everything has been pretty easy sir." Pointing towards his associate, "Well that won't be a problem anymore, Kalimac will take over as the guild Weaponsmaster." Kalimac flashed a sly grin at his old teammate, "We won't have to worry about that again. Trust me." "So will you be sending me back to the Isle sir?" asked Dirmael. "Is that what you want?" he questioned. "Ohh no sir I just assumed with you returning...." The Visionist cut him off before he could finish, "Good, because I wanted you to take over managing the guild for me permanently." Caught off guard Dirmael half choked on his cider, before clearing his throat to ask, "Are you serious sir." "Of course I am serious. You have done a excellent job here Dirmael and I confident with Kalimac's help you can handle things quite easily." "Thank you, I would be honored," he answered earnestly. "Does this mean you will be leaving us sir," interjected Kalimac. "Possibly, I have heard rumors that their is to be a new arena opening that does not allow tournament participation," he replied. "I have sent Gargantua and Rhuw from the Isle to go check it out for me. I should receive a message from them soon." Kalimac and Dirmael looked at each other slack jawed. DUELMASTER'S COLUMN Notes from the arena champ. I was TIRED of rain, Down Pour. So I just said, "Let the rain stop," and you DID. Ladybug P.S. I wish I could believe that would work another time.... SPY REPORT Welcome LAPUR. I, Olaf Modeen remember this place well. Many the fights have I fought here. The celebrations, the disappointments... Hmmmph! I always thought BLACK SAMURAI was an over-rated team and they proved it with a 0-3-0! Ya gotta be quick on yer feet! Keep your elbow off the table! Thrust! Block out the pain! MID EARTH is now ranked 2nd with a 4-1-0 turn. Some people say I ramble too much, I don't say anything relevant. I repeat myself. I ramble. Well VENUSIANS moved up 3, to 3rd. What's with HUNGER PANG? She actually beat BLACK SAMURAI's DAIHACHI, and walked away with 31 more points from the fight. Laughs were big at VENUSIANS while they watched CARINA clobber MISS CONDUCT II. She lost 25 points and got bruised from objects thrown from the stands. I can barely restrain my enthusiam for FORCE OF NATURE's outstanding member, Duelmaster DOWN POUR. Advice to fighters with a 1 will--give up fighting! No matter the time or place, men will always duel. The most avoided team was WILL DUEL 4 MEAD. In my day, no team with a 12-18-1 would scare me off! What's the problem, ARMY OF DARKNESS? How well I know the feeling of being the most challenged warrior, HOFFA! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to haunt you. A fighter's lot is filled with strife, revenge, and killing. Some fighters don't accept this. The best do. MACHIGAI looked pretty sick and surprised when he learned BLACK SAMURAI is sending him to the Dark Arena! Whadd'he expect with a 24-8-0? Some people in LAPUR think BLACK SAMURAI was too harsh when they sent MACHIGAI (24-8-0) to the Dark Arena. Them's the breaks, I say. GOLDIE of STREET WALKERS got 22 points for removing another young punk. Tough luck, CARDOW HUNTERS! I like to see warriors put young whippersnappers in their place. I guess you could say ARMY OF DARKNESS'HUNGER PANG did just that. Right BLACK SAMURAI? Better to die a quick death in the prime of life than to endure an eternity of constant pain, eternal boredom... Does BLACK SAMURAI agree? JON larned his lesson (RED LILY taught it well), and we right likely won't be seein' 'im fight any CARDOW HUNTERS members with the same gusto. Here's some advice: study your opponent, master many skills, fight dirty. Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt. The end of another Spyreport! That's cause for celebration in my book! I don't want to overstay my welcome...-- Olaf Modeen DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME DOWN POUR 4323 17 16 2 99 FORCE OF NATURE (312) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -CONNIE 4716 14 11 1 99 CROC FILES (374) -ORATHAI 4598 9 2 0 99 ECHL-EAST (313) -THE CLEAR 4632 7 2 0 99 ARCANE PHARMACY (401) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME MARIUS 4602 21 10 0 85 EQUESTORS (158) LADYBUG 4709 18 13 1 84 CARDOW HUNTERS (359) SNOWSHOE 4712 18 13 0 84 CARDOW HUNTERS (359) -KOJIRO 4456 18 12 1 83 BLACK SAMURAI (166) WHIRLWIND 4325 15 19 0 83 FORCE OF NATURE (312) -FURY 3872 8 3 0 75 ECHL-EAST (313) SOLAR FLARE 4427 15 15 0 72 VENUSIANS (321) -HYDROPONICUS 4605 5 1 0 67 BLUNT FORCE (393) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -JUNIBAN 4599 18 4 0 66 BLACK SAMURAI (166) SIRIONDIL 3494 7 1 0 66 MID EARTH (223) GALLIENUS 4607 15 15 1 65 EQUESTORS (158) CARINA 4749 7 9 1 65 VENUSIANS (321) YOUR MAMA 4115 8 7 1 59 STREET WALKERS (97) BELEG 3439 7 7 1 59 MID EARTH (223) -AMIE 4718 7 14 1 59 CROC FILES (374) -MURRY 4755 4 5 0 57 CROC FILES (374) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME HUNGER PANG 4832 2 1 1 55 ARMY OF DARKNESS (283) MENSA 4442 12 16 1 53 VENUSIANS (321) AUREOLUS 4631 10 15 0 51 EQUESTORS (158) S'TOU 4801 6 1 0 50 ESCAPADE (417) CEZZARO 4719 9 14 0 48 CARDOW HUNTERS (359) GOLDIE 4805 5 1 2 47 STREET WALKERS (97) STICKET 4751 11 5 0 45 FORCE OF NATURE (312) ZERO VISABILITY 4495 10 13 0 43 FORCE OF NATURE (312) MISS CONDUCT II 4156 7 3 1 41 STREET WALKERS (97) SIREN 4820 4 0 0 41 ARMY OF DARKNESS (283) ROSEMARY 2984 3 7 0 40 ARMY OF DARKNESS (283) -THE IRON LUNG 4667 3 0 0 39 BLUNT FORCE (393) ELDACAR 3483 6 3 1 37 MID EARTH (223) OSTOHER V 3495 5 3 0 35 MID EARTH (223) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME TARONDAR 3549 3 1 0 32 MID EARTH (223) -SARAH KERRIGAN 4618 3 0 0 31 STARCRAFT HEROES (398) BRICKHOUSE 4131 8 4 0 30 STREET WALKERS (97) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME BILL 4766 5 5 0 30 MEN (356) ANKAA 4806 4 2 0 28 VENUSIANS (321) ENERGIZER BUNNY 3196 3 5 0 26 ARMY OF DARKNESS (283) POSTUMUS 4684 5 7 3 25 EQUESTORS (158) HOFFA 4763 3 7 0 25 MEN (356) AKUMU 4674 5 5 0 24 BLACK SAMURAI (166) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME JON 4764 5 5 2 22 MEN (356) JASON 2985 5 5 0 21 ARMY OF DARKNESS (283) REWRITE 2926 4 3 0 21 WILL DUEL 4 MEAD (282) RED LILY 4836 2 2 0 21 CARDOW HUNTERS (359) DIRTY SANCHEZ 4802 4 3 0 19 STREET WALKERS (97) PETUNIA 4837 2 0 0 19 ESCAPADE (417) -DR. You up for it? -- Tye Foon Ladybug -- I didn't expect to face you in the title fight. Not even sure how I got matched up against you...but hey, you obviously belong, you took to belt! Congrats! -- Down Pour Marius -- Some warriors make me look at mediocre as I am. -- Whirlwind Brickhouse -- That was my last challenge against you in my career...unless you are sitting on the throne. -- Sticket Eldacar -- I sent flowers to the infirmary for you, but I was told you would not accept them. -- Zero Kyoko -- Maybe you should try something along the lines of "Will Duel for Red Meat"? Mead isn't helping you much. -- Red Tiger Gallienus -- It's my season. Come after me in the summer and you'll find me at a disadvantage. -- Snowshoe P.S. Hey, it SOUNDS good, doesn't it? Carina -- Wow, you hit me on the head, and suddenly I was seeing stars! -- Cezzaro Petunia -- Watch yourself, wench, you're coming on too strong for a newcomer. A couple of losses at the beginning make a more graceful start. -- Red Lily Marius -- Yes, it was. That's what crits are for, after all! But you held up well. -- Ladybug S'tou -- Especially if our next encounter turns out to be...over a couple of beers or a little barbeque. -- Red Tiger Aureolus -- Next time perhaps you will listen and give up. -- Beleg Zero Visibility -- Looks like you put me into my place, well done. -- Eldacar Jon -- Thanks I needed a good laugh. -- Siriondil Dirty Sanchez -- My apologies, I lost my head for a moment. -- Ostoher V Buster -- Now that what you call a Quickee. -- Tarondar Roadkill -- Thank you for the welcome back, we are here for the long haul. -- Dirmael, Manager of Mid Earth Guild Miss Conduct -- No offense taken, well fought. -- Eldacar Snowshoe -- <Evil Grin> -- Beleg 24 January 2007 The Council of Lords would like to propose a rule change in ADM and Primus. We propose that Lord Protectors ranked "Grand Champions" and below (ADM) and "The Tower Guard" and below (Primus) be allowed to fight in the Dark Arena. This would not impact the top rankings or title match. Any managers who never got his fill or shot at fighting Gateway monsters would have it as an option. We believe it might spark some interest in the ADM/Primus realm for some managers. If interested, speak up in the newsletters or on forums under the "rules changes" thread and let RSI know. This could even be something to try for 12 months and then be re-evaluated. What say you, managers of Ghea? -- The Icelord sends.... 29 January 2007 HDFA Mission Statement "Show me the money!" This is the battle cry of a newly formed collection of like-minded individuals: The High Dolla' Free Agent$. We are not a tough guy alliance: No...we offer no battle without reward. We search for victory and the prizes and accolades that follow. We are motivated by winning and will freely use whatever means necessary to obtain our currency. No stuffy rules, no mandates, no constitutions, no leaders, only a few objectives: 1) Win as often as possible 2) Celebrate freely and revel in your victories; the more meaningless the victory the more we celebrate. Highsiding and chest thumping are encouraged. Ostentatious endzone celebrations with prop usage are encouraged, regardless of fines, penalties, suspensions or arrest by local authorities. It is important to let your opponent know how great you are; more importantly, you must let your own alliance mates know how great you are. This is a 1-up alliance, let the performance of your fellow Free Agent$ motivate you. If a Free Agent wins a TV, win 2; if a Free agent wins a contest, win a more prestigious one.
