Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings Lapur,
Once again, you have to sit through a unimaginative, boring column (kinda like my
fights). As you all read from the spotlight, Aronwe really should be sitting here.
As usual I got REALLY lucky, but how I never gave up is beyond me.
Speaking of spotlights....great job by Visionist, Gavin Rule, Uncle Wolf, and as much
as it pains to say, even Sporkis. I had Montana read them to me, since you all know
that's not one of my strong points. That and writing....and thinking....and
learning....and attacking......and dodging....and parrying.
Retard of Duel 4 Mead gets my challenge this turn. Roadkill wants me to throw the
fight because he says if Retard wins the throne he'll get his invite next turn, and
he'll never have to listen to his mindless dribble again. You know it's bad when you
have to put a restraining order on a donkey.
I really thought it would be befitting for me to bloodfued Mid Earth's Fhrain for
killing Joise Wails last turn, but Roadkill wouldn't allow it (funny, it never
stopped him from bloodfeuding with the duelmaster before). He seems to think that if
I want to retain the title, I should fight a challenger champion, and something about
not wanting to teach him 6 skills. He's already beat Sexy Celia, so Mad Dog Montana
was drooling (yes literally) about the chance to get her 5th kill, but she's an aimed
blow who just got her 12th win. So that means the Lapurian curse is in full force
and according to him she's dead next turn anyways. So that leaves Daisy Chains to
try and avenge Josie. She failed miserably against Petunia, and Roadkill keeps
saying "she has something to prove". What exactly that means is beyond me, but then
again so is "offensive effort", so what do I know.

SPY REPORT
Hail and well met warriors of LAPUR! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. Former top team STREET WALKERS was
unseated this week as MID EARTH moved up from 3rd ranking to take the top spot with a
3-1-0 record for the round. Fortune did not smile upon FAUX TIDES II this time out
who this turn suffered a fall into 14th position in the wake of a 0-0-0 round.
Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner! Witness how this week
EQUESTORS went 3-2-0 to move up 5 in the rankings. My praise to CARDOW HUNTERS for
their 4-1-0 week this time out. Indeed, it was a skillfully fought round deserving
of notice! LUNA caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as she
skillfully bested ANDRASTE and was awarded 18 points in recognition. In one of the
week's more notable duels, AUSONIUS put down SEXY CELIA, causing her to lose 13
points of recognition in the process. Who here was not present for the title fight
this week as ENYALIUS boldly challenged BRICKHOUSE in order to strive for the
Duelmasters honors? The city has turned out in honor of ENYALIUS, for with his arena
victory he may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! No confirmation,
but my sources claim that the top team has gained their position using magical aids.
Charmed weapons perhaps?
Many and various are the arts of battle. In LAPUR "art" is a word that has long
since passed from the language! I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this
week's challenge seeking began. MID EARTH is feared. This much I can say. If you
didn't look down dark alleys you'd have been hard pressed to find any of METAL
MINCERS last week. Busy avoiding MID EARTH? Mighty fighters cannot but expect
competition from those below. REWRITE take warning! You have more than a few
enemies in LAPUR. At the gambling halls I have started to bet money on AMIE. She
has got the courage it takes. Witness hers challenge this turn against REWRITE! The
CROC FILES stable will be up late tonight, for indeed it was AMIE who claimed victory
in the contest, ascending 25 in recognition! Give WEIPA credit for his courage. Did
you note how he challenged TURTLE despite the 45 point difference in their rankings?
Truth to tell, WEIPA did not come out of the fight a winner, but he managed to
capture much attention, gaining 2 in recognition.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Look no more for PETUNIA in the arena or on the streets of LAPUR.
Hers fate was sealed in the Dark Arena. Inevitable for one at 19-16-2. The
warrior's path is harsh. For mediocrity there is but one reward--death. This past
week ICE CRUST, at 5-4-2, departed LAPUR forever. Cruelly, SOLAR ERUPTION of
VENUSIANS has slain the lesser ranked ICE CRUST. Word already flies around town that
FORCE OF NATURE plans a bloodfeud! Walk proud, warriors of VENUSIANS! By striking
down ICE CRUST you have avenged the honor of your dead. Your virtue is known to all
in LAPUR. BLACK TORCH must hold silent, for this week he was humbled in the arena by
a successful Bloodfeud won by URD of WILL DUEL 4 MEAD. Hail URD for thy victory!
Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing is sure, better a
dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in LAPUR. Nice atmosphere you have here! Sadly warriors, now longer can I
keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till
