TEAM SPOTLIGHT
ORA AND OREMASTER WITH THE METAL MINCERS LAPURIAN AWARD VOTES
(Written, edited, and finalized by Ora)
Best Duelmaster -- YARARA of SERPENT s HOLD, who with those extra FE is one
striker we simply do not want to know up close.
Worst Duelmaster -- FORGE of CLAN CROW, whom we admire for getting to the top
with a lackluster, at best, record.
Favorite Manager or Team -- There are many teams and managers to like in Lapur.
OWSLY and CLAN CROW have been doing a wonderful job of late with their fine personals
and comments. Plus, they win, too!
Most Disliked Manager or Team -- Hey, VISIONIST of MID EARTH is on our manure
list for the killing of a compadre basher last Summer at The Orlando Face. Our
brother had the TC in hand in bloodgames as long as he lived. He didn't. Visionist,
you smell of goat and cow manure mixed, even though it was a fine strategy on your
part and a lousy one by our fellow manager. Add some llama and horse manure in that
pile while you are at it. (Oremaster made me add those silly smelly comments; I
think that expensive perfume you wear is quite nice, Visionist.)
Most Avoided Team -- We avoid almost all the time and seem to have SERPENTS HOLD
and MID EARTH at the top of the list tied.
Most Challenged Team -- While we almost always challenge, it is so spread out
that a selection is difficult and downright stupid. (That's why Oremaster is
selecting MID EARTH, because he is downright stupid.)
Best Team Name -- STREET WALKERS. (I don't necessarily approve of the working
concept, but it keeps Oremaster busy and out of my hair.)
Worst Team Name -- DARK ARENA, what kind of team name is that?
Best Warrior Name -- We like the naming process, and our pick this year is MISS
CONDUCT of STREET WALKERS. There are a lot of connotations that can go with that
name/spelling and we like that. (Actually, I think she is Oremaster's favorite and
he doesn't know that I am so glad he has that outlet and it isn't me!)
Worst Warrior Name -- Everyone else has names that are kind of cool and ours are
so plain. I wish I had been around to name this team. So PLATINUM PUNCH of METAL
MINCERS gets my vote. Dull city.
Best Personal Writer -- OWSLY of CLAN CROW is doing the best of late. Keep up
the great work, Big Guy!
Best Spotlight Writer -- How could we disagree with renaming this award the
JORJA Award? You go, gal!
Marcus Award -- VINDOCOMUS of EQUESTORS was the ruin of many a poor man in the
house of the rising Lapur.
Ahringols Apprentice Award -- Wow! Those TREKKERS sure got beamed a lot this
year.
Style Masters
Aimer -- Finally a flock of good 'uns, but TRINKET of SERPENTS HOLD gets our
vote.
Basher -- Our own INCONEL INDENTER is one mean momma! (He'll kill me for saying
that, but I'm the boss, eh?)
Plunger -- SNOWDROP of TRAIL OF TEARS
Ripper -- RINDEL of MID EARTH stands very, very tall here.
Lunger -- A very tough choice, but JULIANUS of EQUESTORS sneaks by the others
Piker -- CAPT. ANTSY PANTS looks like the best.
Slasher -- We think our own SILVER SAW was one slicin' studmuffin.
Striker -- We already told you that we thought YARARA of SERPENTS HOLD was a
class act.
Topar -- Hmmmmm. That CAIRRAIG AMADAN of CLAN CROW is making quite a name for
himself.
Waste -- Gotta go with LUCKY EIREANN of CLAN CROW.
And for the prestigious Bonnie Award for best overall warrior--TRINKET of SERPENTS
HOLD gets our vote. This is the year of the aimer.
One last ward goes to the best pollmaster of the year. For that, we say "yu da man",
Visionist.

SPY REPORT
Like the magnificent Sun, rising upon the Dawn and exiling the Night for a Day,
I, Novgorodny Vir, return once again! He who laughs last didn't get the joke.
Speaking of laughing at jokes, observe CLAN CROW. Last week they got 0-3-0 to drop
by 6! Nothing works for a team like victory (How's that for a perceptive
observation?) as CLUBS 'N CLONES can attest... Say what you will about blind luck
and dirty fighting, but CARDOW HUNTERS will tell you 584-699-12 is nothing to laugh
at... CLUBS 'N CLONES had cause to celebrate, after SARYN got 21 points by beating
JEHLCH. Win some, lose some. Speaking of which, SARYN was winsome, after beating
JEHLCH and seeing him lose 15 points. Can you believe it? YARARA apparently has
better things to do as LAPUR's Duelmaster than show up and fight! In LAPUR, nothing
is permanent (except Death), and we find ourselves a new Duelmaster, CARNAGE. So who
was the warrior seen charging into immovable walls and challenging dead trees?
Someone's got a basic problem...
And how sociable are LAPUR's warriors? Come, let us see. Perhaps the warriors
of SERPENTS HOLD should take up some hobbies, as they are the most avoided team...
The warriors of SERPENTS HOLD found their efforts at combat frustrated as MID EARTH
apparently had more important things to do than fight. If challenges were horses,
QUARK could open up a fast food joint! QUARK found himself challenged by a warrior
22 below: KICKER MURPHY. KICKER MURPHY of CLAN CROW kept his wits as he was beat by
QUARK.
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Ask not for
whom the sword slashes; it slashes for thee.
Leave me now, you base fools! As the seasons change, and the creatures of the
wild change also, so do I feel a yearning to leave this place. Can anything compare
to the pleasure of writing Spyreports for LAPUR? On that giddy note I take my
leave-- Novgorodny Vir

PERSONAL ADS
Spartacus -- Perhaps we did a stupid thing. We had no intention of causing a DA
massacre, or of hurting your feelings. That one bloodfeud attempt was the only one
that was ever going to occur, win or lose. We apologize. Greatly. I would like to
blame our stupidity on Oremaster, but we both deserve equal share. -- Ora of Metal
Mincers
P.S. For your own knowledge, there are only four possible turns for a bloodfeud; not
five.
The Chief -- If we didn't welcome you before, consider it done now. You will love it
here. -- Ora plus Oremaster of Metal Mincers
We be proud ta 'port we dain't lose anna fites last'n turn. Naye! Don't kenna why
none 'borgs done fited. Naye. Must been yon Ora screw up. Aye. -- Oremaster
Spartacus -- We at Clan Crow also very much dislike the giant FE Match ups we get
with 2 tier above us either. But, alas, it happens. -- Owsly
Chief and team -- Welcome ta Lapur! It dannae be sayin much but ye Warty Toad has
the best ale. -- Owsly and the Clan
It be soundin as if this Cajun fellow might add some spice ta O' Lapur. -- Owsly
Yarra -- Me had you at "begin" for 2 seconds then me forgot me style. -- Carraig
Amadon
Quark -- Me thought me did pretty well considerin the disadvantage. Next time maybe
me should go for kickin ye in the shins. -- Kicker
Lhisson -- Nothing personal, just trying to gauge my skill. (Oh, and tried to rape
you for some much needed skills.) -- Miss Conduct
Stormrider -- Well fought! That one could have gone either way. -- Miley Virus
Arylyn -- My fight advantage gave my that win... my only goal is to win the Marcus
award next year. -- Mary Wanna
Uhura -- I saw that shake 'n bake and just went for it. Sorry I forgot that I had a
weapon in my hand when I went to give you a little goose. -- Capt. whatshisname
Owsly -- Hey at least I passed it along! I may not be the brightest but at least I'm
not selfish. -- Mary Wanna
Spartacus -- Without a doubt, one heck of a turn. We actually did bloodfued Trinket
that turn, but it didn't get through. I hope the RUGS were very kind to you, and if
you did get a godling, let us know and we promise to stay away and avoid. -- Roadkill
Hardwood -- "Extend the metaphor?" Now THAT was funny!!! -- Roadkill
Yarra -- Congrats on the title. Three turns, 3 different DMs all by the same team,
that's gotta be some kind of record. -- Roadkill
Roadkill and the Street Walkers, and other managers of Lapur as well -- I have a
couple of comments to make on your voting spotlight:
First, you're right about your team name. It irritates me, at least. But I can
think of ways--they'd make good spotlights--to transform the concept behind the name
to something more positive, or at least more interesting. Detectives, perhaps, or
some kind of secret agents?
Second, the spotlight writer award. I like to be appreciated as much as
anybody, but I think I should disqualify myself for that. It's, well, not exactly
part of my job, but it's related to the job, and I've spent almost twenty years
honing that skill. Blunting it in some ways, too, but still.
Which said, I will also say that the current schedule severely limits the amount
of spotlight-writing I can do in the foreseeable future. Surveying the available
arenas, there are only four that seem to be proper venues (or targets) for
spotlights. Lapur is one of them. What would you like in the way of a story?
Something primarily local, or not? Something involving a lot of local gladiators and
managers (you'd have to volunteer), or not? Adventures or something closer to "slice
of life"? I can't promise to do what you want, but if you don't SAY what you want,
for sure I won't be doing it. I'm no mind-reader (for which I thank all the gods!).
-- Jorja
Viedras -- I knew I was in trouble when you came out with a crosscut saw. -- Hardwood
Miley Virus -- Broad-spectrum antibiotics. -- Stormrider
Brlee -- There was no need to MOW ME DOWN, you know. I would have surrendered if I'd
had a chance. -- Ghost of Grassflower
P.S. I *would* lay a curse on you, except that apparently Jorja's got something
against it. The word among us ghosts is that some other of her slain gladiators got
"carried away" and used up a lot of time and newsletter space coming up with new and
better curses.
Lo'Gosh -- You're tall and intimidating, and that always makes me really angry. --
Sweet Birch
Valeera -- Into the seventh minute? I don't care for long fights. If we meet again,
let's keep it short. -- Claybank
18 March 11
All -- Be aware of the comeback of the Cajun and his stables of gladiators! Just
sayin' -- The Cajun
