DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Wow! What a thrill! Seeing my name in bold, being declared the best warrior in
the city! Words cannot express... but I'll do my best.
A victory made even sweeter by the fact that I am the first warrior from this
management to ever make it to this esteemed position! I am honored to share the
glory with the entire Open Hand team, who joined me in victory with the first 5-0 in
management's history!!
Who'd have thought a lowly golem like me would be able to fight and struggle his
way from the sewer... to the top! A true rags to riches story here folks, and I have
a few people to thank, so grin and bear it.
First of all, to my esteemed foe, thanks for the opportunity, Dr. Strangeleaf.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, eh? <wink, wink> Not too strong, though, I
hope, as we may very likely face each other again! Ha, drinks are on you!
I'd like to send out a special thanks to a few special opponents I fought on the
way up: Convicted Thief, Dangerous Criminal, Userous Merchant. May you no longer be
dangerous, userous, and hence... convicted.
A heartfelt call out to Bonaventure--a fellow golem who started this trip with
me, but had to depart way too early. Taken out by one of Purple Sage's warriors on
turn 622. A bare-handed aimed blow with an unsuited long sword back-up experiment
that apparently worked a little too well. I hope you're at peace Bonaventure.
And of course, thanks to the rest of the Open Hand for being good sparring
partners, teachers, students, and most of all friends. This one's for all of us!!
Darius
SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out LAPUR to see
what's new. MVP award for CLAYBANK? CARDOW HUNTERS' proud of him after beating KHAN
and getting 24 points. Talk about yer big time losers! KHAN got smashed by
CLAYBANK, and lost 13 points! This Duelmaster is like something else! DARIUS
stopped STORMRIDER dead in his tracks! Who was the wiseguy that said LAPUR's
Duelmaster was paying for drinks at The Warty Toad? Don't look at me!
AAARRGH!!! I HATE SPYREPORTING!!! Sorry. I just had to say it. The warriors
of TREKKERS must be getting lonely. They were the most avoided team. Do you guys
know something that I don't? I don't know what MID EARTH's been doing. They
certainly haven't been accepting many fights from TREKKERS, that's fer sher. Can
TREKKERS' SULU be more popular than me? He was challenged the most, but is that
really the same?
Challenges, revenges, Bloodfeuds. All LAPUR ever talks about is fighting! Me,
I'm more laid back. What if they had a fight and nobody showed up? I'd be out of a
job, that's what!!!
I really didn't, you know, study when I was a kid. Who would've guessed I'd be
a famous Spyreporter? I know how much you like reading this stuff, but I really
should stop. Remember you guys, ease up sometimes! Chill out! Later, Debby Tonte

Sulu -- Surely you didn't think? Oh, you didn't think? Well, in a small way, I am
glad I left you alive. -- Bismuth Bender, Proud Metal Mincer
Hardwood the mouth -- Loss? Why? Go back to getting trod on by basketball buffoons.
-- Bismuth Bender, Proud Metal Mincer (who plays a greater game)
Sweet Birch -- well the simplest way to get me out of here is to lose, lose, lose to
me. Any other way is unthinkable! -- Bismuth Bender, Proud Metal Mincer
Sour Diesel -- I did not plan to do that! Ora and Oremaster get really mad when one
of us 'borgs do THAT. Shame on me. -- Steel Sharpener, Proud Metal Mincer
M. Chardinee -- A win is a win is a win. Thanks for showing up, no matter how scared
you were. -- Inconel Indenter, Proud Metal Mincer
Hardwood -- Wood?! What is that primitive stuff against me? -- Plutonium Punch,
Proud Metal Mincer
Jorja -- Spotlight writer extraordinairre, and reluctant tourney spyreporter, feel
free to use any Metal Mincer personna, including Oremaster and Ora at your liberty.
-- The Consortium Elders
Hey, Open Hands, nice point gain this past turn. Kodos! -- Ora
Hey, Oremaster, Hon, nice 4-0 your fine Metal Mincers earned this past turn. Way to
go! -- Ora (Obviously having just concluded a marriage counselor session.)
I was soooo tempted to leave the typo "marriage dounselor"....
Aye, Ora; me borgs bea gud! Blimey fine managin'. -- Oremaster (Having concluded
that same session and...)
Gowron -- I can't tell you how good that felt! Just what I needed after a long
absence, thanks. -- Bahram
Salle and Solwyn -- There's this stall in the marketplace... got the best spare ribs.
You know, in case you need a couple, ha! Sorry couldn't help giving you a good
ribbing. Oh, we crack ourselves up, making my ribs ache with laughter. -- Magdala
and Tane
Captain Kirk -- I tell ya, waking up the next morning, it certainly didn't feel like
I won. The only thing that kept me standing was knowing the team woulda killed me if
I spoiled their perfect turn. -- Iryana
P.S. I thought you'd be taller.
Somebody washed him in hot water, and he shrank?
Open Hand -- Five and oh! Very good. -- Jorja, Cardow Hunters
Bismuth Bender -- Not necessarily. Wait till corrosion strikes! Wood can
regenerate, metal cannot. -- Hardwood
P.S. Not that I am wood! Let us not give Jorja ideas.
Nero -- Take that, you... FIDDLER! Although I'm told that may be apocryphal or at
least distorted, but still. -- Sweet Birch
Spaceman Spliff -- I believe I've been transmogrified. -- Claybank
Priore -- Not a bit of it. I came first. -- Stormrider
P.S. I think I did. All things were born of storm and all that.
Plutonium Punch -- You're worse than a woodworm! Not that I'm wooden, far from it,
but still, that is the image that comes to... ah, comes to the hands. -- Hardwood, at
the mercy of the typist
Shierah! I never expected to face a standby, here in Lapur. At least he's an easy
one, and I'm not so proud I'll turn down an easy win. -- Grassfire

it and that we will see you there!
