DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Ah, Lapur! I love this town. As they say, "Its slums not too wretched... its
palaces reasonably modest." And to be Duelmaster! A dream come true! Ever since my
days in the catacombs of Old Lapur have I dreamed of this.
I've heard it said that I'm only keeping the throne warm for Beryllium Buffer.
Don't get killed at tournament, Mr. Buffer, I'll be waiting for you when you get
back.
But in the meantime, with my hard-earned coin, I will make another dream come
true! SPA DAY!! Come on everyone...
"Rub rub here, rub rub there, and a couple of tra la las.
"That's how we keep you young and fair in the merry old land of Lapur!"
SPY REPORT
Good day, in LAPUR a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor. So
bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. It seems the training can make the
difference, as METAL MINCERS is pushed out of top team by CARDOW HUNTERS, who came
from 5th with a 5-0-2 this turn. CARDOW HUNTERS stable has parlayed this turn's
5-0-2 into a 4 space move up the rankings. This brings them up to 1st place. Good
work, guys! And let's see, NERO fought PLUTONIUM PUNCH and gained 16 points and
contributed to TREKKERS' 2-3-1. AKUMU has lost to ULPHOR, falling 12 points, while
helping make BLACK SAMURAI a 1-4-0 turn. Well done, LAPUR, the Duelmaster was this
turn's most challenged warrior. Perhaps DARIUS is not as thrilled, being challenged
2 times. BERYLLIUM BUFFER TV challenged for the Duelmastership this turn, attempting
to dethrone OPEN HAND's warrior. And not without some honor, BERYLLIUM BUFFER now
claims the title and throne of Duelmaster of LAPUR. Tell me, is nothing sacred? I
have heard from unimpeachable sources that The Warty Toad uses trolls in their stew.
Talk about gristle!
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. TREKKERS has cause to stand tall, as
they were LAPUR's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a team to beat.
And guess who avoided TREKKERS stable the most? Believe it or not, it was MID EARTH.
Anyone surprised?
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? A farewell moment, if you please, INCONEL INDENTER of METAL MINCERS
has been sent to the Dark Arena, and was carried out on his shield. The manager of
MID EARTH will not be pleased to learn that SALLE, a 5-2-0 fighter, has been killed
at the hands of TREKKERS' CAPTAIN KIRK. I guess it was coming sooner or later,
TREKKERS has lost KHAN, and LAPUR is bound to miss him. For a little while, at
least. Is it really true that LAPUR has more dishwashers per capita that fighters?
Just thought I'd ask...
Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare
to fight bravely. It's been nice chatting with you, until we meet again, keep your
swords sharp and your hammers heavy. Until you see my quill in LAPUR again,
farewell-- Alarond the Scribe

PERSONAL ADS
You had to love the guy/borg, but, my, was he a work-in-progress! The Metal Mincers
are proud to announce the retirement of Lord Protector Inconel Indenter, who was a
21-12(+1)-20-15-9-3-5 hosed (-att, -init) BA, His devastating damage and normal
endurance pulled him through his 18-13-2 record . Learning only at a 1.12 rate, he
exited with an adex att and experts in parry and decise. His faves-- MS, Hi/Lo,
learns Parry. -- Ora
For those interested, Oremaster is convalescing with a back problem this week. The
Metal Mincer stable is in much better shape than usual. -- Ora
Sulu -- That was my challenge. It was an uncalled for downchallenge, so I deserved
what I got. (A Spanking!) -- Plutonium Punch
Ulphor -- I thought you had me there with that beautiful crit dodge. And then it
REALLY got testy! But we both survived. -- Bismuth Bender
Sweet Birch -- Whappa, whappa, whappa. I'm outta here! Thanks for your help. --
Inconel Indenter
Solwyn -- When I saw your style, I knew I was orc dung. Kudos! -- Steel Sharpener
Darius -- Congratulations again on the DM Title. -- Ora and The Metal Mincers
Jorja -- They DO go to marriage dounselors out there in MO, don't they? -- Ora (wink)
Ora! Oorrrraaaaa! Blimey! Where be me ale'n morphine pill, wench! -- Oremaster
Gowron -- My pride in victory is tempered by the knowledge that I have twice fights
and recognition. But I don't doubt you will be my better when you reach my age. --
Bahram
Stormrider -- I know, I know, I can be a real pain the ass. -- Darius
Priore -- Hey now, check a lady's pulse before you start trying to bury her in the
sand. Besides, looking at my injuries, I'd say I'm all RIGHT. -- Magdala
Grassfire -- And here I thought we were having a friendly melee. Then a little smack
on the butt and you push me down and try to take my head off-- nice, real nice. --
Tane.
Salle -- You know you're in for a long day when the crowd starts chanting insults in
the first thirty seconds. Stupid crowd. STUPID! STUPID! See how they like it. --
Iryana
Jorja -- We are OPEN to lending a HAND, ha! That is, you are welcome to use any or
all of our gladiators in your story. -- Open Hand
Inconel Indenter -- Congrats on the invite! We only fought the one time and when you
walked out, I thought I stumbled into the Dark Arena! -- Darius and the rest of the
Open Hand.
Oremaster, Ora, and the Consortium generally -- I could have predicted that response,
and I welcome it. I have fond memories of using... was it the Lead Lambaster? Long
ago. But some other participants would be good, too. Today, however, the tourney
spy report is upon me. -- Jorja
We congratulate the Inconel Indenter. Go indent that inconel in a big way! -- Jorja
and the Cardow Hunters
Darius -- How tedious of you to do that. Tedious for me, I mean. No doubt exciting
and satisfying for you. But it irritates me to be made to look wimpy. Although not
enough to make me practice more.... -- Stormrider
Inconel Indenter -- You made indentations all over me! My bark, er, skin is tender
and such things are Not Good. Don't do it again. -- Sweet Birch
Tane -- Yes, well, I'm glad the arenamaster stepped in when he did. You know how it
is with grass fires, if you let them get out of hand, they could burn up everything.
-- Grassfire
Khan -- That's how it is with short guys like you. I trip and fall, and if you're
underneath, well, that's all she wrote. -- Claybank
P.S. I didn't like it when you froze my initiative. I just about got frostbitten
fingers from that!
Nero -- What was the deal with the bank of harpists in the stands? A cheering
section, okay, but harpists? I mean, what kind of gladiator brings an orchestra to
his fights? -- Hardwood
