TEAM SPOTLIGHT
It was Christmas day, and The Metal Mincers guild house was decorated
elaborately for the season. The enormous cedar tree was emanating green, sharp
scents of the season, while filled with color and decorations and even a few burning
candles. The streamers and bows and mistletoe and logs with burning scented candles
were everywhere. The fighters were just returning from their arena fights, led by
the crotchety old Oremaster. There was their lead warrior, Plutonium Punch who was
bonded of an allegedly radioactive material. The others followed, in a jolly, mood.
Steel Sharpener, former Duelmaster was a hulking, but quick fighter, as was Steel
Squeezer. Their steel shone even though they had just left the mud and blood of the
arena. And, talk about hulking, when 7' 2" Tungsten Twister entered the guild house,
he had to duck, but he was smiling, probably thinking about all the benefits the
mistletoe everywhere would bring. Lead Lancer was last in line, seemingly dragging,
probably from all that lead that had entered his system. But he was ready for a
Christmas party.
Ora, sitting by the roaring hearth fire in her favorite red fluffy chair, with
her long, lovely legs stretched out on the hassock, heard the warriors' boisterous
entry, and called out, "Oremaster, Honey, how do you like all my decorations?"
Oremaster muttered to himself, "Damme trophy wives alla they bea carin' 'bout
bea purdy stuff 'n shoppin', but they shore be fine lookin'!" And he responded to
his wife with, "It shore bea fine, Ora Babe. Damme purdy, I bea sayin'."
Ora got up and kissed the old miner and asked how the matches went. "Me borgs,
they be hot!" he answered. "A good'n round; but might be we'ns all jest relax 'n joy
the Holiday. Aye!"
Ora reached up and rang the loud bell, calling all the guests to "come on down,"
and the massive guild house soon filled with Lapur townsfolk, especially all the
young ladies who wanted to meet the cyborgs. There were the other stables, some old
friends like Mid Earth, and Clan Crow, and those Trekkers, plus The Cardow Hunters,
and even some Black Samurai members. The newer stables, like Arcane Pharmacy and
Evil Eater Bunnies, and Not Quite Stars had also come for the excitement and free
food and drink.
There was lots of dancing to the music of The Spice Girls, all friends of Ora.
(Oremaster sorta hated their music as he was more a proponent of The Everly Brothers
and The Lettermen and some of The 50s early rock stars, but they were all dead and
gone like Oremaster almost was.) The food and spirits seemed to loosen up the crowd
and the mistletoe was in constant use. Tungsten Twister seemed to just be standing
under one sprig as the line of young lovelies waiting for their holiday kiss was
quite lengthy. A few couples had broken off to the less visible areas of the guild
house and seemed interested in more than kissing. Many of the warriors had gathered
in small groups talking shop, you know, weapons, armor, blood, wins, kills, et al.
Sometimes their arguments got rather loud, but in the spirit of Christmas, there were
no fights.
At Midnight, Ora gathered everyone together for the singing of Christmas Carols.
Some of the gladiators had fine voices. Others were so inebriated that they thought
they had fine voices. But it was fun.
After the carols, the party began to break up and everyone but Ora and Oremaster
remained in the now quite trashy looking guild house. "It's been a great year,
hasn't it, you lusty old miner?" asked Ora.
"Aye, it shore be Honeybun," responded Oremaster, who might be old but still had
that spark in his eye, as he led her off to a quiet and comfortable place of their
own.

The Lost DM Chronicles
Greeting my friends, about a month ago the commissions guard dog HAL ate several
of Solwyn's DM Columns. The following is a recap of those two attempted publishings.
Well it seems like the ye ol' borgs aren't nearly as tough as they used to be.
Twice now I have fought ol' steely sharp and twice I have dispatched him to the scrap
heap as cheap spare parts. I was talking with my boss today and he told me that all
I have to do is survive and I should recieve my invite to the Isle. But he also
reminded me of an old member of the guild that only needed to do the same thing and
died, so I need to keep my head attached for one more cycle.
The next turn.... As usual my boss was correct about my invite to the Isle.
Since I have decide to retire from the arena he is allowing me to publish my info.
My stats are 13-4-11-17-11-13-15. I have learned 61 skills in 26 fights and achieved
the following ratings, Master Decise, Advanded Expert Attack, Init and Riposte. My
favorites are Shortsword, High offensive effort and Low activity level and Decide
skills.
In closing I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
and all Lapurians a happy 700th.

SPY REPORT
Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out LAPUR to see
what's new. MVP award for DOUBLE MCDIPPER? CLAN CROW's proud of him after beating
CLAYBANK and getting 18 points. Talk about yer major upsets! WINTERSONG's match
with STEEL SHARPENER cost her a loss of 13 points! Don't you think the Duelmaster is
being unfair? I think GRASSFIRE should let NAOWYN be Duelmaster for a while, without
fighting about it. I hear the top team insists all their warriors get nine hours
sleep. They want photogenic fighters for PR photos.
I gotta admit I haven't been in "deep con caves" with any spies. Really, I just
wing this stuff. The warriors of BLACK SAMURAI must be getting lonely. They were
the most avoided team. Do you guys know something that I don't? Hhmph! What kind
of warriors are MID EARTH? BLACK SAMURAI, an easy team to beat if I ever saw one,
can't get them to accept an invitation! Can CARDOW HUNTERS' CLAYBANK be more popular
than me? He was challenged the most, but is that really the same? Speaking of
challenging 27 points above did you hear about MOTHIAS of MID EARTH vs. METAL
MINCERS' PLUTONIUM PUNCH? (And how was that intro!) Like, was that some fighting on
MOTHIAS' part, or what? And he got 23 points out of it! (besides getting in my
report) Poor PLUTONIUM PUNCH. People were asking me did SINISTER FINN REALLY
challenge CHISAHARU? (all right, maybe they didn't, but it sounded good!) It wasn't
a spectacular fight, or anything, but CHISAHARU wants me to write about it since he
beat SINISTER FINN. Satisfied?
What does a fighter fight for? I mean, the crowds don't give a hoot if someone
gets killed. Not after four more fights. What a bummer! CLAYBANK got wasted by
DOUBLE MCDIPPER! But with a 18-30-0, I guess CARDOW HUNTERS aren't too bummed. What
if they had a fight and nobody showed up? I'd be out of a job, that's what!!!
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it quits. Its been
