Iaye:

"Go into Krael and find his missing records?" Gissanniah repeated.
"Yes." The senator sighed and looked wistfully at his mug with its questionable
contents. He wished he could be sure it was beer and not, for instance, dishwater.
Or Worse. "Any help in fighting Khaldren before he turns the Aruaki Clanholds into a
wasteland must be sought out and examined. If it also blocks the re-entry of the
Folstrom into this world, so much the better, of course."
"Just the two of us, strolling inconspicuously into Krael? It won't work."
"Actually, it might, my dear. The unexpected, you see. Often surprisingly
effective. But...a little advance planning, a carefully timed distraction or two...
wouldn't hurt. Hmm." Senator Sedalia frowned impressively. "What we need is...Old
Doc Circ."
     "Who?"
"A Lenpro, my dear, an old, valued, and very wise friend. Retired now, of
course, but I have no doubt, not a particle of doubt, in fact, that he will come out
of retirement to aid us. He will accept the invitation eagerly, I assure you." The
senator's mustache twitched in what might have been a smile if he allowed it free
rein. "He may want to tell you of his earlier adventure in drowned Krael, an
interesting story, my dear, but I advise you to put him off. The tale becomes longer
with each telling."
"I've heard it," Gissanniah said. "From Goff and Muttly. I could probably
quote large chunks of it."
"Ah, yes, I had forgotten that Red Dogs participated in that adventure also."
He blinked at the young woman. "Not that I would wish to insinuate that there is
anything...'doglike' about you!"
     "Loyalty," Chardinee said.
The other two turned to look at him, having nearly forgotten his presence.
"The Red Dogs are remarkably loyal, as any Good Dog is, of course, regardless of
color. We have never suspected THEM of being part of the Conspiracy. Other
gladiators...." Chardinee shrugged.
"I'm not at all sure I want to hear your conspiracy theories," Sedalia said.
"One hears so many of them, and they tend to be.... Some of them are less than
plausible. It has become a joke in most circles, you know. Tell anyone you have
detected a conspiracy," he waved a hand dismissively, "and they will disbelieve
anything you say. Useful, at times, I admit, when one wants to be on record has
having issued a warning you hope everyone will ignore, but...."
"And there is a conspiracy, right there!" the Chardinee said. "THEY are
conspiring to make sure no one listens to US. It's insufferable!"
"No doubt it is," the senator said, nodding, but--"
"But we should be out and doing, don't you think?" Gissanniah interrupted. "We
were going to the Archive, to being with--"
"The Archive! Ha!" the Chardinee's voice dripped derision. He wiped his chin.
"Their records are pitiful! Paltry! They have nothing of any use--"
"That is a thing we must discover for ourselves," the senator said. "And the
fact that Moss, the Trustworthy Scribe, was so intent on preventing us from searching
freely there leads me to suspect..." he smiled slyly, "a conspiracy, my dear
Chardinee! A conspiracy of the worst kind, which is to keep us in ignorance."
Sedalia stood, taking Gissanniah's hand as she rose also. "We will go at once to see
what may be found there, before the nefarious Moss has a chance to hide or destroy
critical records."

                                      SPY REPORT

It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. Advancing in the rankings was WRESTLMANIACS who went from last turn's
51-45-3, to this week's record of 54-46-3. Hey everybody, watch out for TALKIN'
CAMEL WALK, who flew up 17 points in the rankings after mashing RUTHLESS JAYWALKER
like a melon. Keep your eye on this beast. And falling like a basher in the top ten
was ENCHANTED, who dropped 12 points after a disappointing (to say the least) bout
with PASTOR PENTANE. The most challenged warrior this week was STEINBACH. If this
keeps up, our Duelmaster's going to need more avoids! DR. ROSENZWEIG got through to
the Duelmaster this turn. No doubt he was more than anxious to kick STEINBACH's tail
out of the throne! Our battling duelmaster STEINBACH has managed to hold the title,
fending off DR. ROSENZWEIG's none too subtle advances. Better luck next time,
LENPROS. Advice to bashers--never force anything, just get a bigger halberd!
Here is other news that is of note. Here's a song for you: Who's afraid of the
big, bad CRYSTAL PALACE? Big bad CRYSTAL PALACE. Big bad CRYSTAL PALACE. IAYE's
afraid of the big bad CRYSTAL PALACE. Tra la la la la! For those of you who like
math, try this one: CRYSTAL PALACE + Weapons That go Boom = LENPROS + Avoid City.
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). In the 'Oops, What Have I Done?' category,
WALT WEISS was mashed by RISHTEKE, who let WALT WEISS know that killing members of
RED DOG GANG is a no-no. Ask not the elves for counsel, for they will say both yes
and no. Silly buggers, eh?
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. Okay, so I may not be the world's best comedian,
but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. Hasta la bye-bye. (Loud
choruses of 'Beat it, ya bum!')-- The Unknown Spymaster

I guess we Lenpros just don't "have it"! Always #2! #2 team on the move; #2 career
loss; #2 last 3 turn win/loss record; #2 ranked arena warrior. Life is so sad. --
Lenpro

Rishteke -- You were not authorized to do that! Off to KP for you! -- Sgt Schmid

Bigfoots -- Plural Toms and plural feet made for a dynamic battle, eh? Great
outcome. -- Chief Tomtom

Big Mac -- I had to pray hard for that one. (Hold the fries.) Amen. -- Pastor
Pentane

The Clear -- I hate you. -- Lady Huntsman

Sgt. Schimd -- I'm not so easily tired as all THAT. Four minutes? Piffling. --
Rishteke
P.S. And I never did respond well to the old "hup-two hup-three" routine, you know.

Chief Tomtom -- Love that drum, man, just love it. I could've danced all night. --
Bigfoots
P.S. Do you know the one that goes rat-a-tat, rat-tat, rat, rat, rat-tat-tat? It's
one of my favorites. Us bigfootses love dancing to stuff like that.
P.P.S. We're actually very graceful when we dance.
P.P.P.S. No, really!

Walt Weiss -- What a dumb fight! Why couldn't you have lived up to your team name
and LOST it? -- Highly Indignant Ghost of Perrojo

Talkin' Camel Walk -- That ith a weird conthept. I can't get my mind around it at
all. Are you talking about a camel that walkth, or ith about the WAY a talking camel
walkth, in which cathe I never heard of a camel talking although they DO walk a lot.
But, litthen, I am totally confuthed here. Give me a clue. -- Hithelliene

Snowy Snow -- I dunno, looks more like sooty snow to me. 'Cause of all the wood
fires and stuff. Mind you, the air smells good! Don't know what they're burning,
pine, I suppose. But the snow isn't exactly white, not after it's been on the ground
for a few minutes. Of course, if we get ENOUGH snow, all the soot will be swept out
of the air and the top layer will be white, so I guess it COULD be snowy snow,
eventually. But I hate waiting for eventually. It takes so long. -- Fence Post

22 February 2006
The Olympics have arrived!

The Mordanti Olympics, having been gone for six years, have returned to the Mordanti
Alliance, sponsored by Amicitia Primoris. Teams have competed against each other for
recognition and notoriety four times in the past. It is far past time for the fifth
Mordanti Olympics to be held. The Mordanti Olympics shall be held in the Mordant
arena (DM-1) from May 1st (T544) through Oct 30 (T557). There will be a
'registration period' lasting until T543, where teams will be allowed to register by
activating in Mordant and declaring their participation in the personals. Rules will
be posted in the Mordant arena (DM-1) newsletter no later than T543, but shall be
available online before then. An announcement will be made as to where they will be
posted. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
