TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Kharadmon was sitting at his desk in his office located at the Wrathmen
guildhouse. Piles of parchment (or at least what appeared to be parchment, now no
more than illegible scraps of paper) lay stewn about his desk. There was a knock at
the door.
"Yes?" Kharadmon replied.
Kaijhek stepped inside. "Your Lord Protectors have returned," he said. No
sooner had he finished his sentence than two cloaked figures entered the room.
"Finally! What took you guys so long?" Kharadmon asked.
"There have been a great many changes during your absence," Khanamir replied.
He was Kharadmon's first LP. A Convincian from Seam.
"That's puttin' it mildly," Christian muttered. LP number three, a Shagornan
elf from Point.
"How so?" Kharadmon asked.
Christian replied first. "For starters, the arena at Point has been closed. I
was only able to find two members of your team there. So some recruiting will need
to be done once you decide where to send them."
"Closed!? What do you mean, closed?" Kharadmon asked.
"I mean closed. Gates locked. Not open no more. The other guilds relocated or
disbanded. Something about lack of participation, or some such," Christian replied.
"It gets worse," Khanamir added. "You're not going to believe this..."
"Don't tell me Seam is closed, too," said Kharadmon.
"Not only did Seam close, but apparently sometime after its initial closing, the
Gladiatorial Commission in all its wisdom 'leased' the arena to the Delarquan
Federation for some sort of contest. They renamed it 'The Stomping Grounds.' All
the original guilds were relocated," Khanamir stated. "On the bright side..."
"There's a bright side?" Kharadmon interrupted.
"I was able to locate all five of your Wrathmen stable there. Still loyal and
still in fighting shape, just waiting on your orders," Khanamir replied. "Mino and
his Animal Farm relocated to Aruak City, and joined two of his fellow Consortiumites
there. He left word in case you happened to return."
"Mino," Kharadmon chuckled. "I have missed that old pirate. Did you say there
are THREE Consortium teams there?"
"Yep, that's what I've been told," Khanamir replied.
"My god. Could you imagine what that would be like? I don't know if I'm up for
that yet," Kharadmon replied. "Well, so much for our established teams. What's the
word on our 'farm system' teams?"
"Your other teams seem to be fairly depleted," Christian replied. "Domination
in Ardivent is still in shape but alone. Some more recruitment is needed there. Oh
yeah, 'bout forgot. Your Wrathmen team in Jhans wishes to return home to Andoria.
Khylar mainly."
"He never was very happy about having to go there," Kharadmon remembered. When
the DOOMCorps alliance sent the invitation to join their group, someone had to go.
It felt good to be wanted, but the differences in managerial styles were really too
much to overcome. Besides, we all knew it was just an attempt to help bolster their
tourney performance. "Send word to him that, after his graduation, I'll see about
getting that team transferred so he can join us... er you guys, in Andorak."
Khanamir smiled and looked at Christian. They were the only others that knew
their leader was also a Lord Protector. (But that is another story...)
Christian rose up from the table and walked over to Kharadmon's desk. "What's
all that mess?" he asked, pointing to the pile of parchment pieces.
"That is all that is left of my records from all of my basic teams," Kharadmon
replied. "If not for the mini-overviews I received, I'd really be at a loss. I'm
hoping the Commission will assist me in recovering known skill learns, but I haven't
asked yet."
"Why not just ask each gladiator?" Christian asked.
"Because you guys only remember ratings, not what it took to get said rating!"
Kharadmon replied. "That's the manager's job."

SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
IAYE brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Later days, LENPROS, since WRATHMEN
took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. DELTA BLUES turned their
4-0-0 turn into a 2nd place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this,
and you get put on hit lists. Gee, I'm impressed, a 4-1-0 is nice, but don't get
cocky, WRATHMEN, the Fates teach humility, and the Fates are proud. Due to absence,
and inability to defend the throne, DREAM OF DAY has lost the Title of Duelmaster.
Start setting that alarm earlier! I'm not in a very good mood today, but why am I
telling you this? You want to know what's new, don't you, IAYE?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. What's the big D? HER BEST ASSETS was the most
avoided team? Bunch of lily livered... grumble... mumble... curse... And it looks
like LENPROS avoided them the most this turn. What a pack of would be losers, if you
ask me. Hmph. Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, LALA was this turn's most challenged
warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans. And we have HONORABLE HAFALE in a
challenge, going down 12 points for the fight. Guess what? I thought HONORABLE
HAFALE showed great skill and promise when he was subdued by LALA. All right, so I
slept through it! Big deal!
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. A big yahoo goes out to KAIJHEK this turn,
for revenging WRATHMEN's bloodfeud against ALL JACKED UP's warrior LUMBER JACK. Heh,
heh, heh. We're all going to die in the end, so why worry if the fate catches up
with you sooner that later?
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for
an epee. Forgive me for writing with a dagger. Phlllt! Just had to do that before
I leave the fine city of IAYE. I feel much better now. Glad to see the back of this
