I acknowledge. This realm, crackling with magic and power is like none other. The greatest deities of all the pantheons agreed upon its creation and population by all the races. They then loosened all their powers, influences and desires upon their favorites. This sat up a chessboard that would encompass the entire planet. I will be no pawn in any game. My power would forge my way on this realm. I freely acknowledge the greatness of the Gnome God, Garl Glittergold, for I have seen his powers and felt his generosity. I am the eternal sword-brother of his most favored son, High Lord Bosk, he known as Goblin's Bane and Avatar of the Golden One. It is good to be home. "That it is!!" bellows Bosk. He quaffs a great amount of wicked ale from his mug, wipes the foam from his lips and mustache and lets loose a thunderous belch. A beautiful blonde serving wench runs forward to fill his great mug and then mine. She smiles as Bosk winks and flips her a silver piece. We are in The House of the Bottomless Mug in the great city of R'Shann. We have saved this great city-state on more than one occasion from the forces of evil and have been knighted by its ruler, King Septor. This is one of our favorite places and this is indeed our favorite inn. I look behind the bar and see the owner, Lefty. He got that name after fighting in the Northern Goblin Wars. I flash him a subtle sign. He nods and goes about his business. Few know the workings on this part of the continent like Lefty. I will discuss important matters with him this night. Bosk whistles loudly for another refill of his mug. This is quickly done. I remember our arrival via my magic this morning. Before departing Ghea, I ensured all matters concerning our interests were settled on that planet. I dispatched messengers to Lady Greywand concerning our recent quest in the east. Polar Bear has returned with us. "I have business to attend to. I will join you for the final battle with this undead being." she stated. "Aye, M'Lady." I replied. "We will strike out the morning after the morrow." She smiled and departed on her Giant Snow Owl. We will rendezvous with her soon. "Now remember, this is a business stop. All business. We have info to gather. We can party once this battle is won." I remind Bosk. "Indeed. All business, my brother." he acknowledges. "Good." I reply as I rise. "I'll be right back." I make my way to the bar and begin to banter with Lefty. It is good to speak with my old friend. He is indeed a fountain of knowledge on the current situation in the area. He smiles and tells me, "It is good to have you back in The House. Few liven this place up like Lord Bosk." I quickly reply, "This is a business trip, my friend. There will be time for celebration later in the week." Lefty chuckles and I follow his eyes. On the main floor Bosk is dancing wildly to the pipes, drums and mandolins of the house musicians. He is surrounded by three beautiful women: the blonde, a fiery red head and a gorgeous black haired lady from the far east. A dozen patrons are raising their mugs and saluting his generosity. I chuckle to myself and shake my head. "Another ale, my friend, and what did you say was the name of that black haired beauty?" + ]H[ + ---:--- + ]H[ Chimlevtal #7 ]H[ + ---:--- + ]H[ + Chimlevtal: "Why not just go see Kinnishan?" Sidon asked. "I am reminded that I pay you for action, not thought," Master Darque muttered. His glance silenced the Dwarf. "Lord Kinnishan speaks to some managers, true, but not those who are disposed in my favor. What if they've poisoned his mind to me? I will not court the embarrassment of being refused an audience!" He squinted up the long flight of stairs that led to a nest of offices. "I hate stairs. Shau'nin Snowbeard will see me, and hear me, and what he does with the information I bring is no longer my concern." The half-demon sighed and assembled the energy for a spell of levitation, floating gently up the stairway while his bodyguard hurried behind. He could hear Sidon cursing behind him but ignored it. The hall at the top of the stairs was drafty, more so than seemed reasonable. Master Darque glared around angrily in search of an explanation. Ah! A skylight at the far end of the hall was broken, wind and rain entered through it. And... he dismissed his spell impatiently (it only allowed slow movement) and hurried forward. Lying in the broken glass below the skylight was a motionless, gray-scaled, leathery- winged shape. A hunting reptile. HIS hunting reptile. A flash of rage nearly blinded the manager, but he fought it down. Whoever was responsible for this creature's death would pay, but first he had to understand it. The creature had been loyal and obedient. He saw two possibilities. It might have seen something that even its tiny brain interpreted as a threat to its master. It night have come here to warn him and flown into the skylight not realizing that the opening was blocked with glass. Or it might have been captured and flung here by some enemy to implicate Master Darque in a plot that was even now unfolding. The only thing he could be usefully implicated in here in this building was an attack on Lord Kinnishan's chancellor, Shau'nin Snowbeard. He strode to the door of the chancellor's office and threw it open. As he had more than half expected, the old man's secretary was lying across a desk in a pool of blood. His throat had been torn open by claws similar to, but not, he noted carefully, exactly like those of the dead reptile. No doubt the chancellor was dead as well, and if he, Master Darque, were to flee this building now, there would be witnesses posted to report that and accuse him of the deed. Mouth set in a grim line, he crossed to the inner door and opened it as well. And stopped short. Shau'nin Snowbeard was very much alive, standing over the body of... something not obvious, with a bloody sword in his hand. "You are Master Darque, are you not?" the old man growled. "Did you send this thing?" "No. Had I wanted you dead, it would be so," the half-demon answered. "But someone plans to lay the blame for it on me." He peered more closely at the bloody wreckage. "What was it?" "A cat-assassin. I don't know if you are familiar with the breed?" Master Darque shook his head. "This is only the second I have seen myself," Snowbeard admitted, "but I have read of them here and there. They are not native to Ghea, so far as I can tell. It was, hmm," he gauged the diminutive manager thoughtfully, "about your height and weight--maybe five feet tall, a hundred pounds or so. Furry, though. Claws and fangs, a tail, rather cat-like in its features, hence the name. Sentient, within limits. A natural killer. Utterly ruthless. Probably more difficult for the sender to deal with than for the victim." "I see." Master Darque looked down at it coldly. "Would you call it... demonic?" That would be how his unknown Enemy planned to link the thing to him, if it was seen. "No," the old man said promptly. At Darque's glance of surprise, he added, "I told you, I have seen one before, and read of them. There is considerably less of the demon about cat-assassins than there is to you," he said bluntly. "A cat- assassin is no more demonic than one of the Pridefolk. The two races may even be distantly related, since the Pridefolk also are not native to Ghea." He paused. "But someone may have thought it would seem demonic enough, especially if it were not caught or seen closely. And you do have enemies, do you not?" "Lots of them," Master Darque agreed absently. "The problem will be to discover which of them might have been able to get hold of one of these creatures. And who would consider your death a reasonable price to pay for... inconveniencing me." "For such a plot to work," Snowbeard said, "this person would have had to know you were coming here, too. Which brings up the question, why did you come?" "Ah? Quite so, I had almost forgotten. I have reason to believe there is a plot afoot to assassinate Lord Kinnishan. Little more data than that, and no hard evidence, but..." he shrugged, "I thought you should know of it. There is a slight-- very slight--indication that the threat may emanate from Arvat or Zukal." It was Shau'nin Snowbeard's turn to show surprise. "Indeed. We are indebted to you for the warning, slight though it is," he said. "But, if you will pardon a question which may be indelicate, why do you care? Your reputation is--" "I am said, and truly, to be an advocate of what some unenlightened people call Evil," Master Darque said coolly. "But I am also practical, and a resident of Chimlevtal. To find the city-state in turmoil due to the assassination of its ruler- -quite an adequate ruler, in my view--would be a serious inconvenience. I do not like to be inconvenienced. Therefore I will do whatever lies within my power to prevent the disruption of the orderly government of Chimlevtal. You may count on that." >)]H[(< + -----:----- + >)] The Free Cities #70 [(< + -----:----- + >)]H[(< Between Ibizond and Korga: The horseman started to turn away, but two of the hounds made a determined attack on the three gladiators as they scrambled out of their sheltering tree. Now, the tree was a trap rather than a shelter. Cadal was first out, hammering at the nearest hound with his heavy blade. Aghatamar was just behind him, close enough to slash at the hound trying to take him from the side. The horseman turned back, just as the moon shone through a gap in the clouds overhead. Aghtamar sucked in her breath in shock. There was a face, she repeated that to herself as a litany against the unknown. Two eyes--she shuddered and wrenched her gaze away from them, feeling her blood turn to ice and her bones to sand. A beak of a nose, a hunting bird's beak. Gash of a mouth, with an icy glitter of fangs. Behind her, Zilla muttered a prayer to Sermina and struck two-handed at the hound, awkwardly because she didn't want to look directly at it. That hound was no beast that ever curled up quietly before a fire or accepted a pat on the head for a job well done. Cadal lunged at his hound and came near to spitting it on his sword, but the uncanny creature twisted away. The horseman laughed, a sound which would chill the strongest heart, and turned away again, riding up the road toward whatever his, or its third hound had cornered. Fist of Kjarran, most likely, but there was no way to help him now. They had their own problems. The hounds had a pattern of swirling in to attack and then out before they could be struck in return, coordinating their efforts smoothly without needing their master's guidance. They must have done this many times before. Aghtamar thought of the other people dead along this road and knew they must have sustained just such an attack: the horn with its message of fear, then these uncanny beasts with their teasing and toying, and finally the huntsman on his horse. Not a good death. If there was such a thing as a 'good death'. While these thoughts were flitting through her mind, she kept her sword moving as well. The hounds seemed reluctant, maybe even totally unwilling, to close with them, but they wouldn't leave them alone, either. "The damned things are trying to wear us down," she muttered. And it might work. She was already breathing hard, and she could hear Zilla panting beside her. She couldn't hear Cadal, but he was farthest from her. "We've got to finish these," Cadal stated. "Fist of Kjarran is going to need our help." A shuffle and lunge, a hound yelped and dodged back. "Except they won't stand--" "And if we just go to Fist, turn our backs on these hounds," Zilla growled, "likely they'll jump on us from behind." "There must be SOME way we can kill or cripple these damned hounds!" Aghtamar snapped. "Anything that lives can be killed. It's a natural law or something." "We're not going to find it tonight except by chance," Cadal said. "And we have to go help Fist. If we all move together, back to back...." "Right! Let's move," Aghtamar agreed. "On the count of three?" *** ***** *** ***** *** The hound that Fist of Kjarran had crippled was dragging itself down the road toward its approaching master, whining pitifully. If it had been a proper dog, the gladiator might have regretted the injury. As it was...serve the damned beast right. As the hound had appeared to grow when it charged him, so did the hunter. What might have been a big horse--if it was a horse at all--became huge, and its rider dominated the sky. He...it seemed to wear a crown of cold lights, or maybe there were northern lights in the sky behind its head. No, that wasn't north, that was southeast. Fist shook his own head to clear out the fantasies. As the rider passed the crippled hound, he cried out in a terrible voice, a word Fist didn't know and didn't want to know. An evil word, he was sure. Maybe a spell, or a vow of vengeance. Not that it mattered! He had the protection of Kjarran and Jayde. He raised his sword against the moon-colored blade that was swinging down out of the stars above him. >)]H[(< + -----:----- + >)] The Free Cities #71 [(< + -----:----- + >)]H[(< Riztab: "There was something out there," Tillouisa whispered, squinting into the moonlit distance. "I SAW it moving across the water." "Somebody night-fishing in a rowboat," Song of Summer said in a normal voice. "Everything isn't monsters, Til." "Ha! That just shows how much YOU know." Tillouisa abandoned her whisper and scowled at her teammate triumphantly. "I've SEEN monsters, Summer. I know what I'm talking about. There are ALWAYS monsters around water--" "In the Shagornan Desert, maybe, but--" "Everywhere! Water's tricky, Summer. You can't TRUST it," the Rirorni woman stated positively. Before Song of Summer could reply to that, a cry floated to them from the dark lake. Not a human cry, nor the call of any nightbird that either woman had heard before. There was a little of the wolf howling in it, but what wolf would be in the middle of miles of water? And even the howl of a wolf did not chill the blood quite so effectively. After a moment, Song of Summer swallowed twice and said, "It might not be a monster even so." She didn't sound like she believed that. "It might be...just some strange creature out there." There was another cry from the lake, this time all too human, shrill with terror and despair. Splashes accompanied it. "I guess there was a night-fisherman out there, after all," Tillouisa noted. "You don't have to sound so cheerful about it! That poor man probably died horribly." "He would've heard the rumors of monsters same as we did," Tillouisa said, shrugging. "If he chose to risk the lake anyway, well, what did he expect?" She turned away from the waterfront. "I don't suppose there's anything we could do to help him?" "I don't suppose so. He's probably dead by now. Come on." Tillouisa grabbed her teammate's arm and started towing her back up the sloping street. "Where are we going?" "Around this block of buildings. They're all collapsed, and we couldn't get through them. I want to check out the old records building now while the monster's out on the lake." "Til! You're INSANE! We don't know there's only ONE monster." "We can find out, then." Malcorn: "It looks like somebody laid a plate, or a shield, or, I dunno, a cartwheel or something on the field," Blacklock said doubtfully. "If plates, shields, or cartwheels came twenty feet across, yes, it surely does," Birdsong agreed. Blacklock moved to study the circle of flattened grain--which was to have been cut today--from another angle. Not that there was anything different to see. Perfectly circular, perfectly flat. "It'd be hard to cut grain that's been trampled down like that, wouldn't it?" "Yeah, really hard--like impossible, and that's a lot of grain. It isn't like we've got so much to spare, you know." Birdsong knelt and touched the smashed stalks, drawing her hand back quickly. "They're frozen!" "A twenty-foot cartwheel of ice?" Blacklock speculated doubtfully. "Well, anyway, it's too bad, but it happened. What caused it, and what do we do about it?" "I don't know to both, but I think..." Birdsong stood and frowned at the ruined grain. "I think we tell Lord Malcorn." "Oh, SH-- uh, shoot! You think he's been dabbling in magic and did this?" "Of course not! Lord Malcorn isn't careless or destructive," Birdsong stated positively. "But he'll know what to do." *** ***** *** ***** *** Lord Malcorn, Blackie in more informal situations, was staring at another circle of smashed crops. Hay, this time, and a couple of rabbits who had been so unlucky as to be inside the circle when disaster fell. He knew, in a general sense, what had caused it--when he had loosed the Dregur from the Silent Place, other things had escaped also. From the Silent Place, and from other restraints elsewhere. He didn't know exactly which "other things" had caused this, but he was sure that the ultimate blame attached to him. That was the trouble with taking drastic measures to counter drastic problems. You never knew what secondary effects might occur. Or what kind of measures would be required to deal with the secondary problems, and what tertiary problems might arise from THAT. He could spend the rest of his life cleaning up after the results of releasing the Dregur.... But then, he could have spent the rest of his life cleaning up after the invaders, too. He sighed and turned to the farmer. "Keep your livestock and your workers out of the fields," he directed. "There may be more of these, and it will require a complicated bit of work to put a stop to it." Warriors and managers of the Free Cities, your participation in these events is invited. SCRAG'S LIZARD of DARK CIRCLE PETS II (Guardian, mgr.) SPY REPORT Good day, friends and fiends, welcome to your friendly neighborhood spyreport. I doubt CHIMLEVTAL will ever be the same. It seems the training can make the difference, as OVERLORDS is pushed out of top team by WORDS TO THE WISE, who came from 12th with a 4-1-1 this turn. I understand that The Victory Tavern is buying the drinks for WORDS TO THE WISE tonight, to honor their rise to 1st after this turns 4-1-1. Hmmm. Now, what did these guys have for breakfast this morning? THE STORMBRINGERS has turned a 4-1-0 into 7th place from 21st. Give me the recipe! It doesn't rain, but it pours for COUP D'TAT this turn, a 0-5-0 causing a 12 flight drop in the team rankings. Hand that team a dry towel. And let's see, ONE HIT WONDER fought SKITTLES and gained 28 points and contributed to ASSASSIN NATION's 3-2-1. DELWYNNDWN has lost to LAPHROAIG, falling 30 points, while helping make THE NIGHTHAWKS a 3-2-0 turn. GILGAMESH challenged for the Duelmastership this turn, attempting to dethrone THE NIGHTHAWKS' warrior. Defending his title for another turn, GAELIN BLACKTALON kept THE STORMBRINGERS' warrior, GILGAMESH, from claiming the throne. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Victory Tavern? I tell you, a green quarterstaff lasts longer than a seasoned sapling. A basher friend of mine assures me this is true. I also notice that the COUP D'TAT stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on CHIMLEVTAL, what are you afraid of? And avoiding COUP D'TAT more than any other team we find THE STORMGUARDS. CHIMLEVTAL, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most challenged warrior this turn was STORMWATCH's warrior TIGBASA. More fighters challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! Well now, what do you expect when someone like FREY from STORMWATCH challenges down 22 points to fight DEE-DEE of WILLBENDERS? We're not surprised to hear that FREY bested DEE-DEE, but I bet it would be interesting to hear why STORMWATCH made such a challenge. NAPULAK of STORMWATCH had better have a good reason for challenging down 13 points in a challenge which she won. I thought NAPULAK showed great skill and promise when she won victory over SIR VILLARS. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal! A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to be true. Had I not seen it, it would be hard to believe. PEKKO was sent to the Dark Arena and lived to tell about it! Makes you think, no? Whatever bright future SKITTLES may have had, it's all history now. The manager of CANDIES has lost a promising 4-0-0 warrior. We'd like to remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their enemies. You know who you are; and it's considered rude. Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare to fight bravely. Well, I'm burning daylight here in CHIMLEVTAL and I've a long road ahead of me. Happy Trails. How dare I impose upon your "originality" of such witticism? Can I call you putz or have you copyrighted that too? -- Master Darque P.S. I'll decide when and if I reply to an ad. Ice -- No, Abraxis is speaking for himself when he speaks, though he is entitled to his own opinion. Unlike the COL, Cartel members are allowed to think for themselves, and we do not have to read and quote from a manuscript of thought. By the way, your copies are getting out-dated, so you might want to invest in some new ones soon. Cartel members have varying views of certain aspects of the game. Down challenging, sitting out on bloodfeuds, and smack talking in ads are just a few of the areas many of us disagree on. However, they are free to do what they want. If I ask for something out of them, they do it out of respect, not fear that I will kick them out of the alliance or get mad at them. In short, avoid all you want and use every tool at your disposal because I don't need a spy report to tell me you are a coward. -- Master Darque Whoever -- Let me state my position on down challenging though it is in no way "Cartel" policy (Polar Bear, put on a nice puppet show for Ice and Bosk so they can understand). 1) I pay for my own turn. 2) I will determine how my warriors challenge. 3) War is a coward's excuse--if I want to DC you, I will. 4) If you have a problem with this, see rule #1. -- Master Darque P.S. If anyone would like to pay the $10.75 a month for me, I'll be more than happy to follow your "convictions" in regards to down challenging. Goat -- Happy hunting! I'd save my ink if I were you, nothing you say will make any difference to the COL. Logic and reason are beyond them. Best thing to do is just insert a scimitar right down their throats (and no that was not a euphemism). -- Master Darque Firehawk -- NICE!!! Let's do it again. -- Master Darque Kambard - I appreciate any chance I am given by you or anyone I fight...sometimes I need a little help! - Cherry 2K P.S. I didn't need much help this last turn against the merchant.... Wordsmith - Welcome to the arena. Capricious is a word I do like, but I've taken a lesser view of it now. Love Potion should have an interesting career, and you've started it out in the wrong way. Look for him in the future. - D. Noble (mgr. of Numbers Game) The Icelord -- The Bards have a new cd out 10/21. It is RUSH IN RIO. There is also a DVD coming out the same day with the same title. Hussah! We must support the genre! - High Lord Bosk Icelord and the C.O.L. (Cuckhold. Obese. Lackies) -- Blah, blah, blah, cowards, blah, blah, blah, losers, blah, blah, blah, die! So be it! -- Abraxis All -- A small mix-up caused me to lose all of my fight information, and everything else for that matter. Could anyone help me with some style information. -- Egil, Woodpile 31, Goat -- Send me one of those micro game charts I sent you. -- Egil Goat -- Aryan Barbarian is the best arena fighter on my team. What did you ever have any doubts? In any tournament he will leave TC. -- Egil double the skill P.S. How about that improved critical Bash tactic! Section 31 Op -- I'm going to be moving back to Arena 31. But I lost all my team information. I should be back next month. -- Egil Ziggy -- Rochell Rogers, 10928 1st Ave S.E., Everett, Washington, 98298. -- Egil P.S. Use your head for something other than an Andorian punching bag. Perforate -- That's usually me getting poked full of holes. -- General Electric Gefion -- So much for walk softly and carry a big stick. -- General Purpose Mendal Omshil -- A Shill? You taking me for something? -- Psych Major Faolan Ap Gryffydd -- Even with an unpronounceable name, you still fight pretty well. Perhaps that's your secret tactic to distract your opponent. Worked pretty well this time. -- Commander Spud What kind of silly strategy was that, Sir Breunis? Did I really try something that stupid? -- Prodigious Poll Pott -- I'm climbing to the top of my game. -- Lexicon Duke Gorlois -- My words were better than your words, obviously. -- Igominy Love Potion #9 -- I can go either way. I really had a lot of fun with you. -- Capricious Hot Tamale -- My chances were typical and I took advantage of them. It was a wise day for me. -- Archetype Censored, Commander Spud? -- Do they do things like that in Canada? -- Wordsmith Icelord -- My old friend Mino sends his respects and regards to Odysseus, a fine, fine warrior. -- Wordsmith To all our acquaintances around Alastari, Words To The Wise is Consortium affiliated, and friends to many. -- Wordsmith Icelord -- Sounds like you make a lot of excuses to downchallenge. You're right, I guess it's not excluded in the rules. The general rule of thumb is that it is considered to be a dishonorable act, perhaps cowardly is overstated. How do you get to the point that sitting One Hit Wonder out was hypocritical?!? I would have to pretty stupid to let him walk into a downchallenge of that kind of magnitude again! I ran him the one time figuring that maybe you would challenge with a warrior of comparable FE. What was I thinking? -- Ghab/Assassin Nation Mani -- Wait a second...how did you get away from that one with your life intact? I must be losing my edge (or someone has been dulling my blade). -- One Hit Wonder Coup D'Tat -- You kill a beast and I get a beast rollup in return...seems like it is time for me to clear out my stable! I will be bloodfeuding with Perforate, as he is of similar FE, but he is a beast as well and would have gone to the Dark Arena otherwise. This should be interesting.... -- Ghab/Assassin Nation (praying for a couple of returns from the Dead Tourney) VC -- You know, I must be slow...I'm starting to understand what I've been told about the col. I should have known what to expect, since I also heard the same things from the managers outside of your membership ranks. -- Ghab/Assassin Nation The Icelord -- Thanks for your guidance during my career. Between you and High Lord Bosk's personal attention, I managed to graduate. - Gilgamesh Ghab - You are correct. The Icelord needs the help of NO ONE! He is indeed more than capable of fighting any fight he engages in. However, when you pick a fight with my Brother, you've automatically included me. - High Lord Bosk Polar Bear - Salute, M'Lady! May your days be golden. - High Lord Bosk Goat - You are just another of a long line of "goats" the Cartel has mislead into this arena and not supported. You run your mouth like the sapling you are. We care not what one such as yourself "cares to address us as". Let's review our conflict after 12 cycles, if you're still here. We will be. - High Lord Bosk, GrandMaster, Council of Lords High Lord Bosk - Just caught the Ian Anderson tour. Sixth row. The Master Bard was great. Fun night. Tal. - The Icelord Stormwatch - It was my pleasure. After Clones D'Tat avoided your BF, The Icelord ordered me to slay their leader. - Lajinn the Genie, Overlords Wordsmith - Welcome to Chimlevtal. - The Council of Lords Ghab - Be silent. - The Icelord Kirken - You needed that more than I. Thanks for the skills though. - Arl Hammerhand Gomorrah - You needed that more than I. Good job on saving Gaza though. - Zarendargar Trashius - That was a duel. Salute. - Rezos Lord Bosk and Polar Bear - It is amusing that yet another clone arrives for the Crying Cartel. The normal occurs: the clone runs loud and obnoxious personal ads, makes stupid threats and promises that will never happen and struts around thinking this will make him a reputation. How many more fools are going to continue to do this for Master Dork? It would be really funny if it wasn't so sad. But in a way you can understand it. Their jealousy and obsession with The COL is a obvious. Without their claim to be in a war with us, they would have nothing. - The Icelord Firehawk - It is time for you take control of the Crying Cartel. Darque's plan of bringing in rookies to blather in the personal ads endlessly is getting boring. Perhaps you can lead your alliance out of its obsession with The COL. - The Icelord Icelord -- I thank you sir, for your words of praise. For my part, I am very proud to have contributed to the glory of Chimlevtal in such a way. Forsooth, many good gladiators have fallen in this same pursuit. Let us raise our cups together in their memory. -- Lord Protector Sampsa, DM-103 Wordsmith -- Welcome to Chimlevtal, the arena sands await the red rain that we know as gladiatorial combat. -- Bobby Bigfoot, for SOL Invictus Shewish Giant -- I like night fighting. I'm trying it again. -- Pekko Glenlivet -- I'll buy you a drink for each skill that I learned. -- Inmar Lagarulin -- I was just warming up! -- Spatha Valkyrie -- While I can accept that unfortunate mismatches are part of the game, still I would hope to benefit from the experience in the form of learning some skills. Oh well, fate if fickle, is it not? -- Rauni One Hit Wonder -- What happened? Weren't we gonna fight? Where did I get this blasted headache from? What happened?.... -- Mani Stigma of Stupid -- (stunned look) How'd you learn that much, then? -- Jo Ludan Idi A Mean -- How embarrassing, only nine minutes! I fear the fault was in me. I should have been able to keep a desultory conversation going longer than that. -- Les Nayle Greysales -- (scratches head in confusion) You're some kind of fish? I never would have guessed. -- Norgen Pelh Abyssinian -- You understand, I LIKE cats. But I never let them get the upper hand. -- Kambard Murh Psych Major -- You psyched me out of that one. Really slick, too. -- Mendal Omshil Phoenicia -- You're so splendidly darque. I look at you and I am abashed and respectful, as well as just a tad lustful. -- Norgen Pelh Wordsmith -- The REAL scoop here is chocolate. Very dark chocolate, with nuts. -- Jorja, Middle Way 29 September 2003 All -- Let it be known that the Firm accepts SOL into its ranks. The Firm is: SunGod, Dark Spirit, Youngblood, Tripwire, and SOL. LAST WEEK'S FIGHTS PEKKO delivered the death blow upon BANDIT PRINCE in a 2 minute Dark Arena fight.
