TEAM SPOTLIGHT
Players old and new!
Some of you may know that at one point last year, RSI tried to pull together an
arena in which role-playing in the personals and in spotlights would be a significant
(and rewarded) feature. Though it didn't work out, the idea remains an appealing
one. I would like to propose that we, the players, sponsor such an effort. No
rules, no prizes, just players getting into the spirit of role-play.
I suggest Telorinthe, arena 83, as a place to try this. Telorinthe is the slow
no-tourney arena, and it seems like a good place for this experiment. There is no
large body of entrenched players with other interests. Although some background work
has been done, there is no great, creaking, edifice of old spotlights to deal with.
Very little in the way of vested interests. Perhaps if all goes well, the idea might
catch on in other arenas.
In keeping with the "no rules" idea, I won't say, "Begins on turn ###!" Just
show up when you feel like it and jump in. We'll keep a seat ready for you.

Notes from the arena champ.
The Veteran Mercenary thought I was "too harsh" with his old buddy M. Chardinee.
What kind of guy has a golem for an "old buddy"? Anyway, he tried to reprove me, and
I had to demonstrate my fitness to be here as duelmaster. I considered throwing the
fight, letting someone else carry the load, but... this guy was seriously pissed, and
I couldn't be sure a win would be enough to satisfy him. What if he'd wanted to kill
me? I'm against that. So I mosterized him.

Like the magnificent Sun, rising upon the Dawn and exiling the Night for a Day,
I, Novgorodny Vir, return once again! Nothing is certain in CHIMLEVTAL, with
changing loyalties, changing Duelmasters. Write this down: new top team--AVENGERS.
Practice pays for PANCAKES, who pummelled EMBEZZLING SCRIBE, to pocket 21 points.
MANDIN ORLE certainly had a baffled expression on his face, after losing to SHO and
losing 14 points in the process! CONVICTED ASSASSIN found out that CHIMLEVTAL isn't
a democracy. You've gotta be the best to be Duelmaster here! Word has it one team
in CHIMLEVTAL is taking speech lessons to try to bore their opponent to death. I'll
bet it works.
And how sociable are CHIMLEVTAL's warriors? Come, let us see.
Ah, the duel! The roar of the oppenent, the smell of the crowd! Ask not a
spymaster for counsel, for he will pontificate long after you have fallen into an
unconscious stupor.
