DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Of course I am here again. The arena officials are not dumb! Who else were
they going to get to write a DM Column, so they awarded it to me. AGAIN!
I am pretty sure that if I can live through one more fight, I am a Lord
Protector and I will be out of here post haste, I will. Gotta help The Big Boss get
to 1000. By the time it gets back here to me, that 1000 will be mighty, mighty
close. I hear he just added three more in Aruak City, The Heart And Soul Of Andoria.
Hey, a shout out to Assur for getting a mighty TC for our arena. Perhaps HE
will be writing DM Columns pretty soon?
I just want to take a moment to introduce you to my two newest teammates. Like
Rope, they weren't with us in our early days on Noblish Island. Wet Noodle is 1-1.
Watch out! Besides being quite tasty, he has game. Brass Knuckles is yet to fight.
Jab, jab, uppercut. That's his style.
I may not see you again next time, so wish me luck on my trip to The Isle, I
remain,
Pitchfork, DMIII
SPY REPORT
Turn 373. That is a lot of years of fighting, coming up on 29 full years.
Chimlevtal is still going strong, though. Only 11 teams sent warriors, but almost a
full complement of 53 warriors fought for those teams in 32 fights (7 Dark Arenas, 3
bloodfeuds, 10 other challenges, and 4 NPCs).
This cycle, the best team on the sands was OTTOBAHN, barely edging out THE STORM
REAVERS. OTTOBAHN went a perfect 3-0 on the sands and YETI killed a Black Orc to
bring OTTOBAHN to 4-0-2. Humorously, YETI was the most challenged warrior.
OTTOBAHN's performance was good enough for 2 awards and enough to move up 2 spots in
the career records. THE REAVERS were also perfect on the sands, but sent one hapless
fool to the Dark Arena, who promptly lost, marred the perfect record, and likely was
the reason THE STORM REAVERS didn't win any awards this turn. The rest of the awards
were split fairly evenly to 4 other teams.
USEFUL WEAPONS almost made it to the opposite side of the spectrum. A losing
record for the turn and 2 deaths on the sands. Luckily human ingenuity has never
lacked for finding new USEFUL WEAPONS so I'm sure they'll be back up and running full
speed ahead next turn. Two awards and a Lord Protector will likely make SMITHY not
feel the turn was a completely wasted effort.
PITCHFORK, our Duelmaster for the previous 3 turns beat AMUR yet again and
retained the throne and was given immortality by the commission. It'll be some time
before I can look at a pitchfork again without remembering how our PITCHFORK was able
to consistently leave AMUR on the sands wanting. Great run, PITCHFORK and good luck
in the future. AMUR also received his graduation notice and will join PITCHFORK next
turn on the ISLE OF THE EYE. Perhaps the commission simply wants their battles to
continue.
I forgot to mention it last time, but DUST MITE was also given an invitation to
ADM, though I have no clue why since he hasn't fought here for a long time (I believe
not since I've been reporting).
People took notice of BASH BROS OCEAN's recent success and promptly filled in
their avoid paperwork with team number 627. Eight avoids total. Plenty of other
avoiding going on, though (42 avoids in all to 14 different teams).
Because it is one of my favorite things, I will highlight the deaths and the
bloodfeuds this turn. There were three bloodfeud attempts and three successful
bloodfeuds.
KILROGG DEADEYE (31-6397) (17-5-0,90) of THE STORM REAVERS bloodfeuded ISHIBO
(31-6441) (7-14-1,52) of AVENGERS. KILROGG DEADEYE beat ISHIBO in a popular 4 minute
master's Bloodfeud brawl. KILROGG showed ISHIBO the best way to bloodfeud. Make
them pay and pay dearly with a huge unfair downchallenge.
K'NAR'ST (31-6529) (2-2-0,20) of GREAT OLD ONES bloodfeuded MALIGN (31-6542) (3-
3-2,41) of ASSASSIN NATION. K'NAR'ST overcame MALIGN in a 2 minute Bloodfeud melee.
K'NAR'ST may not have as much experience as MALIGN, but he made what he does have
count and successfully avenged his comrade's death.
BAM-BAM (31-6587) (1-1-0,4) of GHOSTWALKERS 3 bloodfeuded ERADICATE (31-6598)
(2-0-1,19) of ASSASSIN NATION.
BAM-BAM viciously subdued ERADICATE in a 2 minute gory beginner's Bloodfeud duel.
ASSASSIN NATION has been busy with their executions. Now the arena is tying up these
killers in bloodfeuds. Another successful Bloodfeud challenge.
SHO 7 (31-6551) (4-2-0,54) of WHAMMO & THUDDA 4U! challenged HUAYRA (31-6501)
(4-3-0,53) of OTTOBAHN. SHO 7 was easily killed by HUAYRA in a 1 minute uneven
Challenge fight. SHO 7 killed on his own downchallenge. I love it! I prefer to see
warriors make massive downchallenges and kill, but this is almost as good. A
downchallenger killed by the warrior he was hoping to abuse.
RYO (31-6470) (6-9-0,32) of AVENGERS challenged ROPE (31-6475) (6-6-0,34) of
USEFUL WEAPONS. RYO slew ROPE in a 2 minute Challenge struggle. A couple of average
warriors wanting to make a name for themselves, maybe RYO will be noticed by someone
and can turn his career around. Meanwhile, it's been proven that Scimitars are more
useful than rope when fighting in the arena.
LYTHALIA (31-6579) (1-2-0,5) of GREAT OLD ONES fought BRASS KNUCKLES (31-6608)
(0-0-0,0) of USEFUL WEAPONS. LYTHALIA easily killed BRASS KNUCKLES in a 1 minute
gruesome mismatched bout. One would think that brass knuckles would be very useful,
perhaps the next new thing in Primus when it is discovered that fists can hit harder
with this Useful Weaponry. But they won't be finding out about Brass Knuckles from
Chimlevtal.
That is all for this turn. I found this turn one of the more exciting ones,
likely due to the challenges, bloodfeuds, and deaths. Or perhaps I'm just having a
great week and being able to watch these fights made it even better. I'll see you in
a month or so! -- Belinda, your spy mistress

PERSONAL ADS
Shore nuff did lak that there spy report. Seemed ta brag bout Bash Bro a lot, tho.
Hmmm. -- Smithy, Useful Weapons
P.S. Well, gratters on yer TC.
Left jab, left jab, right uppercut... I'm coming... -- Brass Knuckles
Snow Angel -- See; wet noodles have game! -- Wet Noodle
Sho 7 -- I only knew six knots, so you had me disadvantaged from the start, you
cretin. I'll just bet you went to Harvard free? -- Rope
Amur -- I think I love you. -- Pitchfork
Rogue -- What was that? You want to run a Marathon, you can't stop at a 10K. Silly.
-- Trash Can
All -- We were recruited here to help an arena grow (lookin' good) and as a to-be
arena of excitement and personals. Got a nice spy report. Getting good DM Columns.
BUT LACKING PERSONAL ADS! Get with it! -- The Useful Weapons Publicist
Sojutsu -- Well, I wasn't able to overcome the style matchup. That was mistake.
Good win! -- Contempt
Deathwing -- That is the end for me on this plane of existence. I take my sword and
fight in the Dark Arena in... well... disgrace. -- Disgrace
Yorith -- Tough matchup for you. Better luck in your next match, unless, of course,
you meet an Assassin again. -- Eradicate
Trash Can -- I thought I had you. Well fought. Next time we fight I'll have to go
under the assumption that I can't outscum you. As an offensive TP, I shouldn't have
tried. -- Rouge
Chimlevtal -- Sorry for missing ads last turn. Combination of tourney and vacation
made personals not seem a great priority. Though I will say that I was quite pleased
with the TC, even more pleased that it came from here! Tar was my first Striker TC
and my first TC at a face. -- Assur
Ishibo -- My comrade recommended me to you. -- Litter
Kilrogg -- I was impressed. Then again, it is easy to impress me. -- Seaweed
Queen of the North -- I refused to be denied -- Shark
Lythalia -- Not fair that you had to face me, but someone had to. -- Tar
Trash Can -- Someone thought I belonged with you. I was just minding my own
business. -- Seaweed

NEW TEAMS IN THE TEMPORARY TOURNAMENT ARENA (DM 85)
Please note that all new teams created at the Face-to-Face were temporarily placed in
a temporary Tournament Arena, DM 85. If you requested that your team be placed in a
specific arena, it has already transferred to that arena. Effective immediately, any
teams placed in DM 85 and not transferred out to another arena, will be automatically
deleted a month after the tournament. If you have questions about any of your teams,

WINTER FACE-TO-FACE IN SUNNY ARIZONA!
Our next winter FTF will be held in Tempe, Arizona, January 16-18, 2015. It will be
held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tempe, Arizona (480-897-7444), the same hotel as
last year by popular request. Room rates are $149.00 per night, 1-2 occupancy, which
includes full cooked breakfast, complimentary manager's reception, free airport
shuttle, free parking and free high speed internet. There's a fitness center,
jacuzzi, and pool. The rooms are blocked--code RSI.
Please make your reservations now if you plan to go. This is prime season for
Phoenix, and this year will be crazy: the Superbowl, Phoenix Open, auto auction, PF
Chang's Marathon, and more are all during that time. The hotel will be filling up
quickly and I won't be able to add rooms to the block after they are full. So please
book your room now -- if you can't make it you can cancel your reservation, but we
hope you do!
Look for the tournament info sheet and minioverviews some time in December. We hope
you're all looking forward to it and that we will see you there!
