SPY REPORT
It seemed like everybody was talking about ODACHI this turn. I don't really know
why. Sure, he is the Duelmaster. But he defended the thone against the worst warrior
he could have matched up with, SHARK (not counting the NPC's). And worst is pretty
bad, since the 'best' warrior he could have faced OROKE STONEMAGUS (nothing against
OROKE, but he's not exactly the epitome of the best of the best). Sure ODACHI won
three awards single handedly, but two of those typically are won together and the last
was merely an award that gets awarded to the oldest offensive warrior in the arena.
(And ODACHI is offensive and offensive). The good news for me is that ODACHI was
awarded immortality by Sheila Greywand. So enjoy the spotlight, ODACHI. I don't see
the future holding anything better for you.
Slashers and Bashers are two of our most popular styles, too! They made up more
than a 1/3 of the fighters this turn. I guess that makes our arena less friendly to
those Aimed Blow type warriors, but really?!? Slashers and Bashers!?! Speaking of
those cheating fist wielding warriors, they went 0-3 this turn and have the worst ten
turn record of any style that has been represented. So I guess I'll put up with your
slashers and bashers if it means fewer fist dodgers in the world.
My favorite fight? By far it was VIP SECTION going to the Dark Arena. First, let
me say that VIP SECTION deserved to go. But now VIP SECTION's manager has to make a
decision, because VIP SECTION killed THE RAGE MAN! I'd say make him doubly or triply
prove his worth in the Dark Arena. Plus it makes for a great story...
Amazingly 10 of the 15 fights were challenges. Also amazing to me, 4 of those
challenges were actually down in the rankings. I tell you that DC's are good
strategy. You're typically facing worse warriors and regardless of whether you win or
lose, your own warrior will be lower ranked than if you'd issued an up challenge! See
how that works!?! Certainly if you have a good challenge that is an up challenge,
make it, but down challenges are simply smart to put in your bag of tricks!
My second favorite fight of this turn was actually a matchup. WHITE LINE FEVER
easily killed NECKTIE in a 1 minute gruesome one-sided conflict. Not only was it a
kill, but it pit the corporate world against the working world. And this time, the
workers won! Sure, all those corporate snobs have the money. But when push comes to
shove, the workers have the true power.
I'm sure I missed news, but hey, it isn't my job to report all the news. Just to
