SPY REPORT
When I last reported the tourney results, it was a bright day for Chimlevtal. One
of our brightest, in fact. Especially given our low participation, any TV is a big
deal, let alone a TC like DROKK brought back. This tourney was not one of our better
moments or showings. Ten warriors entered the tournament. Only one, PANTOMIME of
DARKNESS FALLS, had a winning record, going 4-3-1 in the Champions class. 18-30-1 all
together. Maybe next time. Though on other days, I question why I even bother
reporting on the tourney results since it is fairly clear and certain that most of you
here are not as interested in the tourney as even I am (a lowly spy reporter). I
actually attended this one and got to see some of the best up close. So I can
sympathize with the lack of interest. The best specimen of a warrior here doesn't
come close to what I saw this last weekend.
SPECTRUM of the AVENGERS was the most challenged warrior. COPS!' challenge was
the one that went through and it looks like a beauty. A DC win to a more experienced
warrior. That is likely going to give lots of learns (and of course the boost to the
record). However COPS! also managed to stay in the Challenger Adepts so he can make
the same challenge again next turn! Now that is how you manage your warriors!
PATRICK BATEMAN again tried for the throne and again showed why strikers are one
of the best styles in basic. TAR made short work of PATRICK BATEMAN and stays on top
again. If he'd write a column, I'd live with the mess he leaves around, but no
column?!? Someone dethrone him!!! Send him off to retirement, Commission! Kill him!
Do something, but get him out of my arena!
Something you don't see every day is a three way tie for the most avoids. Not only
that, but two other teams were one shy of the three way tie. The teams were YUPPIE
HORDE II, USEFUL WEAPONS, and AFTER MIDNIGHT. I can't think of a more motley crew
than that. Doing the most avoids were a combination of AFTER MIDNIGHT and USEFUL
WEAPONS (likely avoiding each other, but I didn't go into as much depth as I normally
do - too many late nights during the tourney, you know).
And unfortunately, the paperwork last month was completely off and thus my report
was lost and the prior turn's report was reprinted. So you can read this newsletter
for the rest of this turn's results and I'll just do the housekeeping required to
bring back a couple of good memories from last turn. I apologize to those who were so
looking forward to my report last month. I will claim that it was a commission
paperwork mix up, but I haven't checked for fear of discovering otherwise and
confirming AFTER MIDNIGHT's claims. And if I did check after writing that prior
sentence and discovered it was my filing mistake, I'm not telling!!!
WELCOME BACK MIDDLE WAY!!! We are more than pleased to see your team return to
the game. I said more last month and perhaps I can get you a copy of that report
privately. And perhaps soon we'll see you back in the personals?
And just in case you all missed it (and given the fireworks between Destitute
Noble and Lady Smith you may have), AVENGERS took 5 challenges last turn. One of
those resulted in death. (yes, I love stirring up the pot)
