                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

I was told that I need to submit a column. WHY!?! Assur only cares if I can do
something in Freshmen or not. The commission simply wants to hold me back (or maybe
they're trying to hold someone else back and I'm just a convenient way to do that
since while I hold the throne nobody else gets those PP's). Nobody wants to fight me
(well Patrick Bateman wants the throne, but even he doesn't really want to fight me in
spite of what he may tell his manager -- are you really going to tell your manager you
don't want to fight the best -- that you'd rather take easy wins from a land bound
shark or something?) And fans?!? I was ridiculed just last week because I'm
(according to this individual) a has-been.

I try not to let it get to me, but it is a really rough life being under a mega-
manager after a TC run in your past. It doesn't take for the appreciation and thanks
to disappear and the expectations to stay.

Maybe the commission will grant me immortality this turn, maybe not. But even then my
career will likely continue -- and the expectation of what that career will have is
very, very high!

                                          -- Tar

                                      SPY REPORT

Unfortunately, Chimlevtal is going through a bit of a down turn. Soon Crip
should be back, though, and I see DARKNESS FALLS and SHADOWHOLD both returning to the
sands. I suppose DARKNESS FALLS gets the top team award, since nobody else did much
of note and D.F. came back with a perfect 1-0 and took the throne (which either was
their goal with TAR vacating or just happened to be the case. If they didn't want to
take the throne, PANTOMIME should have returned when TAR was hogging the throne
without columns - though I see he did put a column in this time, though it seems to
have been written a turn ago).
MANDIN ORWELL was this turns most challenged warrior, something I'm sure Jorja
is well used to, with her running so many dinosaurs. I always enjoy when those
dinosaurs show why dinosaurs should be treated with respect (and not target dummies
for good learning) and KILL their opponent trying to learn skills from them. More
often, however, warriors like ADIOS AMIGO get the win and possibly good learns.
Dinosaurs are hard to kill, so it isn't surprising that ADIOS AMIGO did not get kill
#5.
The only kills were TAR offing BLACK ORC in the ceremonial Dark Arena to the
Isle routine and another one of those PERSISTANT BEGGARS coming off the streets and we
are all better for it. Thanks BOLO! Perhaps we should take all the persistant
beggars and send THEM to the Dark Arena.
PATRICK BATEMAN again tried to get the throne, this time going after SHARK. It
was a good idea, except that PANTOMIME returned and took the throne.
AFTER MIDNIGHT is playing the Delarquan game, DCing everywhere. 2-1 from the
DC's. Not surprisingly, AFTER MIDNIGHT was the most avoided team.
Going to cut it short because my deadline for getting this back to the
commission is approaching fast!!! Thanks for the personals Jorja, Lady Smith, and
After Midnight. They are appreciated by all (even most of those who are usually
silent).

Huh, does this arena FIGHT today, and I'm late with these personals, or is this the
send-it-in day? Some days I can hardly tell. -- Jorja
P.S. We DID send personals last time, but they vanished in transit. I figure road
bandits.

Shark -- At least brush your teeth! -- Lumus Nelp

Hot Sand -- You make my feet hurt. -- Rondor Sendal

Serenity Now! -- But I wouldn't know what to do with it now. -- Panda Ross

Pool Cue -- I'd say that was embarrassing, but with a record like mine, what's another
loss? -- Norison Rose

Umbrella -- You covered me. -- Mandin Orwell

To those who recklessly wished us to stay -- Yes, we will. But we might have a
problem with due dates. -- Jorja, Middle Way

Tar is Duelmaster? Again? Congrats, I guess. We ought to Tar and Feather him, though.
Him and his lazy manager. No DM Column. Sheesh. What a lame Duelmaster. -- Lady Smith

Panda Ross, oh, my. I liked that. And you are above me yet in the rankings? Oh, well;
I guess we shall just have to try it again right away. You think? -- Lasso

Hanzo, whoop, whoop. (It's a bolo thing.) Are you half of Hanzo and Gretto? You
shoulda brought along Gretto -- or the witch. -- Bolo (feeling mighty frisky)

Mandin Orwell, I like it when it rains on you, but not on me. -- Umbrella

Ah laks it when me fiters git no losses. Yup. -- Smithy

Me, too, Smithy, Hon. Me, too. -- Lady Smith

Heat Wave -- Is it hot in here? I'm all aflutter... -- Skinny Dipping

Managers and warriors of Chimlevtal -- We are not ignoring you. This is the THIRD
time we've written personals for this arena. Our personals have been intercepted,
hijacked! I don't know what those road bandits are doing with them, but it can't be
good. -- Jorja, Middle Way

Umbrella -- You'd have been more useful keeping that freezing rain off me. -- Mandin
Orwell

Litter -- I hope that will encourage you to clean up your act. -- Norison Rose

Patrick Bateman -- I've been yupped! The shame! -- Lumus Nelp

Hot Sand -- Thought you'd scorch MY feet, did you? Take that! -- Rondor Sendal

Lasso -- I can see why you're least popular. *I* sure didn't like you. -- Panda Ross

Belinda -- Thank you. -- Norison Rose against littering

Our congratulations to Tar. -- Jorja and the Middle Way

We have planned our summer FTF for July 13-15, 2018, in Arlington, Virginia, only 7
miles on a quick Metro ride from Washington, D.C.!. It will be held at the Holiday
Inn Arlington at Ballston. Room rates are $79 per night on 7/12 and 7/15 and $129 on
7/13 and 7/14, 1-2 occupancy. There's free wireless throughout the property as well
as a fitness center, outdoor pool, and business center, as well as a resturant and bar
inside the hotel. There is no airport shuttle and parking is $7/day. The rooms are
blocked -- ask for the Reality Simulations block. Reservations must be made by 6/12.
(As always if you have issues making reservations, please let us know!)

                       Hotel site: http://www.hiarlington.com

Look for the tournament info sheet and minioverviews some time in June. We hope
you're all looking forward to it and that we will see you there!
