                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Citizens of Arvat, I bid you all greetings. This is my second turn as Duelmaster. I
first attained my current title when my guildmate, Stylish, went inactive for a turn
to be properly timed for this past tournament. In a hard fought fight with
Baskervole I managed to lay claim to the throne. This past turn I got to fight a
stand-in as there were no challengers active that I could fight. Convicted Assassin
was no match for me and I easily trounced him to retain the throne. He is just lucky
I didn't kill him.

I have been told by my manager that as long as I survive this next turn's fight I
will get my invite and attain immortality. It would be a tremendous honor to be held
in such great company as so many, Devil Advocates, Roman Heroes, Misfits, Venom and
Notorious warriors of old have before me. I can only hope that I will one day be
thought as highly as any one of these great warriors were.

This next turn I will be Challenging no one and avoiding no one as well. If anyone
can defeat me then I wish them all luck. Until next turn.

Your Duelmaster,

Solar Man

                                      SPY REPORT

I can't believe the violence in ARVAT! I still haven't told Mom I'm writing
Spyreports. She'd have a cow! Well, here we go... MVP award for TASSALTER?
FISHERMAN'S WHARF's proud of him after beating AMBITIOUS GUARD and getting 18 points.
Talk about yer big time losers! LITTLE RAINBOW got smashed by CAPTURED ORC, and lost
1 points! This Duelmaster is like something else! SOLAR MAN stopped VENOMOUS GIGOLO
dead in his tracks! Is the Duelmaster really being a real snob to his teammates?
Don't ask me!
So just why would someone becomes a warrior anyway? It can't be for these
really neat Spyreports can it? Like, is BASKERVOLE popular, or what? He was
challenged the most in all of ARVAT! He's got a 13-30-0, is that good? See if I
ever talk to STYLISH again! BASKERVOLE was so low when He challenged he. Hhmph! Is
this how SARATOGA GLORY advances, by having their members (STYLISH) fight people that
are really below them (BASKERVOLE)?
Man, all these warriors dying and killing each other! Don't you guys ever give
it a break? Fight, fight, fight. Is that all you guys can do?
Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand
wash. I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it quits. Remember
you guys, ease up sometimes! Chill out! Later, Debby Tonte

Convicted Assassin -- I even surprised myself! -- Pretty Wild

Baskervole -- Well done!! I'll have to give you a try again. Once Stylish has had
his turn of course. -- Trademark

Convicted Assassin -- Didn't you just fight Pretty Wild? Go away! -- Solar Man

Khalhums Dwarf -- I like to see that I was able to get revenge for you giving me my
first loss so many moons ago. As you can see I have gotten much better. -- Stylish

Venomous Gigolo -- I surprised even myself. -- Savory

Baskervole -- Trademark thanks you for the kind words. He enjoyed butchering that
smelly Gigolo. He would thank you himself but he is working extra hard after you
give him that loss. -- the Trainer

Trademark -- Aha! You thought, perhaps, that your personal number was "cool" and
powerful. Well, I'll not deny that a palindromic number has a certain something, but
it doesn't have the RIGHT something to defeat ME. -- Baskervole

Who is this "Fratsfa Slave" fellow? I thought all Fratsfans were blond? And had
very good manners. This fellow was quite COARSE, and totally useless on a boat. In
fact, he kept falling overboard, and I was STRONGLY tempted, the last time, to simply
let the fool drown. -- Boatman Ku

Okay, so I lost to the Ambitious Guard. He's eight inches taller than me, he's got
the reach and the weight. What else could I do but lose? Okay, maybe I could've
hacked up his ankles a bit. But you know what *I* think? I think he cheated
somehow. Ambition is like that--pushes you right over the edge if you let it. And I
can TELL that he's been indulging his ambition big time. -- Tassalter

(with immense satisfaction) The Embezzling Scribe lost composure and cried out in
pain. Good. He deserved it. I know, I'm SURE that his embezzlement is somehow
linked to the shrinking of this arena. Probably taking funds from the promotion and
maintenance account. I wish I could've killed him. -- Loggerhead

Did you know that our Persistent Beggar is a Dwarf? I find that surprising. I
always thought Dwarves were industrious. I though they had such PRIDE. And here he
is standing around with his hand out. It's a disillusionment. -- Little Rainbow

17 July 2004
I am currently trying to put together a favorites chart for AD warriors. I
desperately need help with this. What I need are style, favorite rhythm (ex.:
hi/low), favorite weapons, and tactics. What would be great is if you could send me
a copy of the invite with the warrior's name, id#, and arena blacked out. This way,
I can verify that this is an actual warrior. Minis will work, too!

For those interested, I have both a challenge style vs. style and a match-up style
vs. style chart. There's about 250 fights calculated in these charts, and I'll be
happy to send a copy to anyone who asks. You can contact me (if you're a free world
player) at: Rick Stringer, Merit/East, SCI, P.O. Box 500, Georgetown, DE 19947-0500.
If you're in prison, just send a diplo to: Baphomet, Mgr. Knights Templar (568), DM
#47--North Fork. (I also have a lot of other charts and info for anyone who wants
it.) Thanks!

30 July 2004
The total number of fights calculated was reported as 250 fights. This is a
misprint. It should have read "over 2,500 fights." -- Baphomet

Our next Winter Face-to-Face will be held on Martin Luther King weekend, Friday
through Sunday, 14-16 January 2005, at the Embassy Suites in Tempe, Arizona (4400 S
Rural Rd--this is the same hotel as last year). Room rates are $139.00 per night,
1-4 occupancy, which includes breakfast. The rooms are blocked. The reservations
number is 480-897-7444; tell them you're with the "Reality Simulations Face to Face
Convention" block. Our room block will be released in mid-December, so please make
sure you reserve your room before then!
Room rates include a full cooked-to-order breakfast and a complimentary two-hour
manager's reception. There is a free shuttle to the airport, as well as free parking.
The hotel is located down the freeway in Tempe. All rooms have high speed internet

bar and Mexican restaurant inside the hotel. And there's Denny's right across the
street. Look for transportation info in the tournament information sheet.
The tournament information sheet/strategy sheet should be out sometime in late
November/early December.
If you haven't been to a Face-to-Face before, you're overdue. If you have,
you'll be back. Don't miss this one, it'll be a blast! See you there!
