We have two columns today, one that belongs today, and one that should have been in last time. First, today's column: Well, I'm back! It's been a while Arvat but I have reclaimed my title of Duelmaster. I was last Duelmaster on Turn 480 after defeating Baskervole for the title. Due to inactivity I was relieved of my title. Now, after a span of 12 turns, I am again the top dog, after avenging the death of my former guildmate, Pretty Wild at the hands of Tad Deville. I was unable to get revenge in our first bout but after some slight strategy tweaking justice was served. I must say the view is much better up here. This time I have no plans of going inactive so I will hold the throne until someone can beat me. Hopefully that will not be for quite some time. This next turn my challenges go out to Obsidian Golem. We have never fought and I am looking forward to testing my skills with him. It should prove to be an exciting duel. Well, that's about all I have time for this week. I'd best be getting to practice if I want to be here again next week. Savory The old one: So I finally got permission from the boss to write one of these things. I'm actually very lucky to be here, seeing as I don't stack up well to a bloodfeud from an Aimer. Savory popped me good, but if I can do one thing well, it's take a hit. And here I am! I was instructed to say thank you to the arena and offer a welcome back to the Icelord. My manager says that he's a cool guy...Heh, heh, heh. Get it? ICElord? COOL guy? I love it! I also have to spout the party propaganda and let you all know that I am the 24th Duelmaster from the Devil Advocates to hold teh title here in Arvat. When and if I graduate I will be the 26th Lord Protector from this team. Both are arena records. Of course most of us are dreadful, so there's that... That's about it for me. I need to work out extra hard this week if I'm going to try to beat Savory again! Tad Deville SPY REPORT Oh, hi. Its just little 'ol Debby Tonte. Thought I'd check out ARVAT to see what's new. MVP award for LITTLE RAINBOW? FISHERMAN'S WHARF's proud of him after beating SENSOO O SURU and getting 28 points. Talk about yer big time losers! DESERT FOX got smashed by IZUSU TROOPER, and lost 20 points! Like THE STORMLORDS' OBSIDIAN GOLEM is sweating since it got challenged by Duelmaster SAVORY! This Duelmaster is like something else! SAVORY stopped OBSIDIAN GOLEM dead in its tracks! Is the Duelmaster really being a real snob to his teammates? Don't ask me! Look, you guys stick to fighting, all right? DEVIL ADVOCATES was ARVAT's most avoided team. Is there some award for that? I don't know what THE STORMLORDS' been doing. They certainly haven't been accepting many fights from DEVIL ADVOCATES, that's fer sher. Can BLITZKRIEG II's ARGONAUT be more popular than me? He was challenged the most, but is that really the same? Some fights are really unfair. How do you think BASKERVOLE feels about being challenged by DIETER KWAN, 17 points above him? Is this how DEVIL ADVOCATES advances, by having their members (DIETER KWAN) fight people that are really below them (BASKERVOLE)? TAD DEVILLE is being unfair. He's challenged down 18 against TASSALTER. I don't know why they let this stuff go on. (I'd better shut up) I was sorry to see such an unfair "fight" in ARVAT. TAD DEVILLE got 2 points after beating TASSALTER, 18 points below him. People were asking me did ARGONAUT REALLY challenge BOATMAN KU? (all right, maybe they didn't, but it sounded good!) It wasn't a spectacular fight, or anything, but BOATMAN KU wants me to write about it since he was defeated by ARGONAUT. Satisfied? Challenges, revenges, Bloodfeuds. All ARVAT ever talks about is fighting! Me, I'm more laid back. What if they had a fight and nobody showed up? I'd be out of a job, that's what!!! Remember, blood on a purple robe may stain. Soak it in cold water, and hand wash. I'm getting tired of writing this stuff, so I'm calling it quits. Remember you guys, ease up sometimes! Chill out! Over the span of my years here I have had over 100 warriors. That's right, over 100 warriors. Of thsoe exactly two have been of genius intelligence. I would call exactly five of the replacements "good." How about a break? I out-personalled you this turn! -- the Dark One Ah, but you've been saving up for months. Tad Deville -- Good fight. I think I got you a little over anxious this time. Lucky for me my tweak worked. I think we will consider things even now. Good luck and thanks for the rematch. -- Savory Charon -- Thanks for the fight. Sorry about the rough treatment. I'm sure we'll see each other around. -- Silver Train S.A. Tann -- Jeez, you're huge. I thought I had you there. Good job on turning the tables so quickly. -- Dynamite Flyer Thor -- Hmmmmmmm. We enjoy the competition. -- the Trainer Jorja and Fisherman's Wharf -- Thank you for the kind words. I'll pass your praise on to Trademark. It's good to see that everything is okay with you and yours. Now will you graduate some of your fossils please? It's getting a little crowded up top. -- the Trainer Dieter Kwan -- Same as last time, no doubt. -- Baskervole the Bored Sensoo O Suru -- Urg. Wind sprints for me, I guess. -- Tassalter Miss American Pie -- I loathe pie. Especially when you throw it at me. -- Loggerhead Lil Eth -- (sigh) -- Boatman Ku Nautilus -- You should use your own exercise equipment. -- Little Rainbow The Trainer -- It was the toothache, and the subsequent root canal. Not to mention discouragement--how many arenas have no personals in them but mine? But as long as you hang around here and write personals, I will be delighted to write personals back. -- Jorja, Fisherman's Wharf Dynamite Flyer -- No, but it'll teach me to get out of town ahead of the auditor. -- Embezzling Scribe 1 March 2005 The Contract [as retold by Hammer the WordSmith] What had begun as a contract for swords and armor between a well known name in the DM community and the former VC Captain/WordSmith and WeaponSmith of the Vendetta Cartel Tarantula Tribe was destined to impact and altar the landscape of the dueling community for years to come. The following is but a condensed retelling of history in the making. Hammer continued sipping his tankard of Elven Tonic as the mysterious hooded figure quietly seated himself across the table from the Veteran Manager whose back was against the wall; allowing for a subtle, but effective surveillance of the dimly lit tavern. Recent events in both Illis and North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena had stunned the DM managerial world with the announcement that Hammer had resigned from his position as a well respected member of the Vendetta Cartel Alliance. Those managers and associates closest to Hammer were shocked and dismayed that there seemed to be NO Rational Explanation for Hammer making such a seemingly irrational, hasty and extremely illogical decision; by what seemed to be a spur of the moment reaction following the Declaration of War by Hammer in the DM 47 P-ads. This is what stirred the mysterious hooded figure to seek Hammer with a request that would change the managerial course of both men; ultimately Rocking the Managerial World of Alastari as a result of the forthcoming decisions reached by the two Veterans. Time passed swiftly as both Veteran Managers discussed how the landscape of the DM game on the sands of Alastari had changed over the years both in Basic and Tourney play; producing a new breed of managers who would of necessity band together in an alliance with a common goal; waging war against antagonists while improving the managerial skills of each participating member in their glorious quest for DM excellence. Hammer listened intently as his unexpected guest inquired about the situation in North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena; revealing his desire to participate in the upcoming Turf War 4 contest in DM 47 with an alliance that would accept him on a more permanent basis other than for just fighting together as a TW4 alliance to win fame and Gift Certs. Here was a Veteran Manager, seeking the advice of Hammer regarding an alliance to join on a permanent basis; plus extending a sword arm of friendship and requesting that Hammer join him as an alliance mate with those who would welcome their membership. The Iron in the Words of Hammer had produced this opportunity as a result of the recent conflicts witnessed first hand by the manager seated across the table from Hammer. This Veteran Manager had been secretly searching and scouting around Alastari for someone worth his mettle to fight alongside; someone who would know where to find the perfect gang of rebels who were unafraid of waging war against anyone. Hammer knew exactly where to look and in a matter of days the two newcomers were welcomed into the ranks of a group of managers who received them as war waging equals in an alliance that had joined a Confederation of Alliances for the TW4 contest. Fighting under the banner of The Illuminati Confederation of Alliances alongside members of Chaos Inc, kLk and The Company of Brothers during the TW4 was more than either of the two Veteran Managers had envisioned a few months ago. Hammer was now entering a new journey with a new attitude. Perhaps you readers may have noticed that new attitude by now since this announcement by Hammer is uncharacteristically Exclamation Point Free. Except for the famous quote by Hammer at the end of this announcement. Now that Hammer and the Mysterious Hooded Figure have agreed to join forces with an alliance whose members have welcomed them enthusiastically; let those who desire to be antagonistic be forewarned as to the identities of these newly welcomed wagers of war: Tripwire kLk Bringer of Pain Hammer kLk WordSmith and WeaponSmith Minister of War Illuminati Idealist "May Your Blades Be Sharp and Your Wits Sharper!"
