Lords and Ladies of Arvat, I bid you all greetings. I have retained my title for the third straight turn. This time I was victorious over Lil Eth of the Devil Advocates. In our previous duel, I managed to come out the victor. This duel was no different then the last time we met. Here is a quick recap of the fight. In our previous fight I never gave Lil a chance to swing. I've seen her in action before when she gets on a roll and it isn't pretty. She hits pretty hard and I didn't want for me to be a on the receiving end of one of her Battle Axe swings. I figured that the best thing to do was to go on the offense and just keep pounding away until I landed a few well placed shots. I came out hard and immediately launched into a vicious assault. Lil was prepared for my stroke and was able to fend off my swing with her shield. Unfortunately for Lil, I was expecting her counter and I wanted to make sure that she wouldn't have that damn wall between us for the fight. I put the full force of my body into that swing, doing everything that I could to cut through her defense. The moment my blow landed I knew it was a good one. Lil's shield exploded into a million shards and she threw down what was left of it. I flashed a grin of confidence. I knew I had the upper hand. I swung a few more times trying to circle to Lil's blindside. However doing so almost proved for my downfall. I gave Lil too much of an opening and she jumped all over it. Before I was ready, Lil, now holding her Battle Axe with two hands instead of one, brought her Executioner's Blade in a sweep towards my skull. In an instant I leaped to her strong side and then I launched back at her with my blade trying to cut through her armored shell. My swing was a powerful one and it caught her flush on the throat. My blade found a weak spot in her plate and sliced through deep into her flesh. Not giving Lil time to regroup, I pulled my weapon free then feinted low and before my opponent could react I struck again, this time a brutal hit to her head. My assault was so ferocious and strong that the Arenamaster had to step in and end things before it got out of hand. I was victorious. I'd like to thank Lil for a well fought duel. Unless it is by her hand I do not expect to be squaring off against her anytime soon. This turn I'd like to give some new blood a chance. I'll be challenging Little Rainbow. We've never fought that I can recall and LB has been steadily climbing into the top ranks. Little Rainbow's record is very impressive and I will need to be at the top of my game if I'm to return to the top spot. Well, I'm off to go prepare. I hope to see you all here next turn. Your Duelmaster, Savory SPY REPORT Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the clash and bustle of the weekly ARVAT games. Former top team DEVIL ADVOCATES was unseated this week as THE STORMLORDS moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot with a 4-1-0 record for the round. SENSOO O SURU caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully bested TAD DEVILLE and was awarded 25 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, SENSOO O SURU put down TAD DEVILLE, causing him to lose 22 points of recognition in the process. Most watched of the fights this week, the spotlight was on LITTLE RAINBOW as he bore arms against the challenge of reigning Duelmaster SAVORY. Although LITTLE RAINBOW made a valiant effort, it did not suffice to topple the reign of victorious SAVORY. Would you believe that over half of the old women in ARVAT seem to feel that they could fight better than you gladiators? But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades that is city ARVAT. ARVAT, city of gladiators! Mighty among the names of thy guilds is DEVIL ADVOCATES, a guild shunned and avoided by many in the weekly duels. If you didn't look down dark alleys you'd have been hard pressed to find any of FISHERMAN'S WHARF last week. Busy avoiding DEVIL ADVOCATES? Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those below. THOR take warning! You have more than a few enemies in ARVAT. A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week, it seems that S. MOE DIUS posted a challenge against the more highly recognized THOR. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand S. MOE DIUS was defeated by THOR. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel. I can not but mention with disdain the name of SILVER TRAIN who this week posted a challenge to a warrior a full 11 points below in the rankings. I thought SILVER TRAIN showed great skill and promise when he bested LOGGERHEAD. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal! Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more than its fair share of red in recent times. Dark alleys may hide both secrets and assassins. In the arena there is only the brightness of steel. Keep vigil always! The girls are as pretty in ARVAT as ever I remembered them....and the fighters as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a different story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SAVORY 4143 14 4 1 159 SARATOGA GLORY (352) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME DIETER KWAN 4092 23 11 0 117 DEVIL ADVOCATES (105) BASKERVOLE 4071 16 44 0 101 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) SENSOO O SURU 3979 21 13 0 98 THE STORMLORDS (337) LIL ETH 4093 24 9 2 94 DEVIL ADVOCATES (105) LITTLE RAINBOW 4146 16 7 0 92 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -ARGONAUT 4135 8 2 0 86 BLITZKRIEG II (354) OBSIDIAN GOLEM 3975 19 19 1 84 THE STORMLORDS (337) TAD DEVILLE 4140 18 5 1 84 DEVIL ADVOCATES (105) BOATMAN KU 4130 12 20 1 84 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) TASSALTER 4112 9 28 0 79 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SILVER TRAIN 4170 5 0 0 59 SARATOGA GLORY (352) -IZUSU TROOPER 4062 5 0 0 58 FLAMING DEATH (347) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -NAUTILUS 4134 7 3 0 51 BLITZKRIEG II (354) CHARON 4103 6 2 0 46 THE STORMLORDS (337) -LOGGERHEAD 4133 3 2 0 44 BLITZKRIEG II (354) LOGGERHEAD 4149 10 10 0 40 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) -DESERT FOX 4131 5 5 1 35 BLITZKRIEG II (354) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME -DAHLGREN 4132 3 2 1 33 BLITZKRIEG II (354) THOR 4169 3 3 0 25 THE STORMLORDS (337) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME FREKI 4179 3 0 0 23 THE STORMLORDS (337) STRATOSTAR 4173 3 2 0 17 SARATOGA GLORY (352) LOU CYPHER 4188 1 1 0 12 DEVIL ADVOCATES (105) -YUGO CV 4066 1 0 0 12 FLAMING DEATH (347) -VW BEETLE 4064 1 0 0 6 FLAMING DEATH (347) S. (heavy, put-up sigh) I hope you appreciate YOUR manager. He's paying attention. -- Tassalter Dieter Kwan -- You've got more fights than I do, so how come YOU got four skills and I only got TWO? I feel like I'm fishing without bait. -- Boatman Ku Sensoo O Suru -- (reeling back in shock) I...WON? That's incredible! -- Baskervole P.S. Tell me you weren't suffering from an input error. Obsidian Golem -- Careful there! Obsidian takes a great edge, yes, but it also shatters if you hit it wrong. And while I wasn't trying to hit it WRONG, I was hitting. -- Little Rainbow Izusu Trooper -- Why flaming? -- Loggerhead P.S. Do golems not MIND flaming? P.P.S. But don't burn ME, okay? I'm waterlogged. The Trainer -- Well, the thing about a root canal is that afterwards, the tooth has no feeling at all. Definitely better! -- Jorja Lil Eth -- Sorry again for the rough treatment. I'll buy you a beer and the Blue Boar Inn. Thanks for the fight. -- Savory Freki -- Great job in beating me down. The boss thought for sure that this would be a good matchup for me. Alas it was not to be. Congrats on the win. This loss is forcing me to fight at night now. Oh well. I wasn't cut out for being a warrior anyway. -- Dynamite Flyer Thor -- Jeeeez!!!!! Four straight turns. We just can't seem to figure each other out and know we've both stopped learning anything at all. I really hope that we don't see each other again this turn. It's gotten old. At least we know we are an even match. Congrats on the win. -- Stratostar VW Beetle -- Bleh! I stink. It's off to the Dark Arena for me.... -- Serial Bride All -- Well it's two more fodder for the Dark Arena Monsters for me. I was hoping to have finally filled out a decent team but I've got two here that just aren't cutting it for me. Here they are: Dynamite Flyer is a SL 13-5-11-15-17-16-7 Norm/Good. Learned only three skills and wasn't fun at all to run. Too many flailing attacks for my tastes. Serial Bride is a PR 11-10-11-15-9-11-17 Very Little/Good. The fact that he didn't learn anything in his first fight and the Very Little Endurance just ruined any chances he ever had at making this squad. I don't care if my guys lose or if they don't have "perfect" stats but they have to be somewhat fun and interesting for me. Both of them were neither for me. I hope to be fielding a full five warriors on this team sometime soon. -- the Trainer Arvat -- May we all have dominated the Tournament. -- the Trainer Flaming Death -- Well, that's better; you're actually running three guys now. I hope your studly manager gets involved and writes something soon. We'd love hate to have to kick your tail to get him to be a little vocal. I'm sure you just want to try and remain anonymous but I don't plan on allowing that to happen. Sorry. -- the Trainer the Trainer -- It will be great to see you in Chimlevtal! Let me know what team is yours. Salute! -- The Icelord the Trainer and Jorja -- Many thanks. -- The Stormlords Stratostar -- Though that was neat, you're right, we need to try our skills against other warriors once in a while. Look at that initiates class grow! -- Thor Arvat -- Sorry, not a lot of time for personals, an old buddy of mine, who I haven't seen for 9 years stopped by for a weekend of swilling, feasting and a little gaming action. Most hussah! Salute, Bjorn the Brave!! I make the sign of the Hammer and of the Axe in your honor! -- The Icelord 28 March 2005 Is there anybody in the DM game who is incarcerated that has had to litigate in order to continue playing? Or anyone in the free world who may be able to help me with case law or legal advice? The Administration has already taken "D&D type games" from us once (though I recently had that decision overturned). I believe it's only a matter of time before they try it again and I am prepared to file a lawsuit if need be. I enjoy DM and any help that could be offered would be greatly appreciated! Misnomers DM 47 28 March 2005 Ladies and gents...get your teams together and join in on the hottest and fiercest contest ever to grace the arena sands! Intrigue, personal wars, you name it...we got it going on! What is this contest? It's the Turf War IV in DM 47, North Fork!! This fantastic contest was begun by my alliance mate Asmo Dius, and I've picked up some of the slack. Contest starts on Turn 225 (approx. date June 9th?). It's an "alliance-type contest", so grab your folks and bring them in for a bang up time. Rules will be printed in the DM 47 newsletter at least until the contest starts. -- Baphomet, Host...Company of Brothers Alliance, Illuminati Confederation of Alliances 28 March 2005 Contest Announcement ==================== It's finally here! ScumFest 2005! The greatest scum in the land of Alastari are formally invited to participate in ScumFest 2005, a contest involving the scummiest scum in all of Alastari! Who: All Scum in Alastari What: Scum Fest 2005! Where: Talahya When: May 23rd, Talahya Turns 490-499 Rules ====== The object of winning ScumFest is to have the longest cumulative time (in minutes) at the end of the 10th round. Should there be a tie at the end of 10 rounds, tiebreakers are (in order): - Head to Head Record - Win/Loss Percentage - Average Fight Length (We'll go into overtime if they're still tied) There are no other rules. A manager may use any means at his disposal in order to accomplish his goal. Collusion, hiring Aimed Blows to take out the leaders, etc. Anything goes! To enter the scum fest, please write a personal ad in the DM 100 newsletter, declaring your intention to join the contest, or send an email to managerr@aol.com Please include warrior name and ID numbers of the contestants. You may enter the competition up until Turn 494. Prizes will be announced after the competition begins. The point of the contest is to prove you have the scummiest scum, and necessarily for a silly prize. Good luck and Happy Scumming! -- Manager 6 April 2005 SLAUGHTER'S CHALLENGE I would like to make a formal announcement to all the managers of Alastari that the inaugural/memorial challenge put forth by Abarsis, The Slaughter Priest (Richard Hammes) has been approved by the commission. The contest will be held in TROCAR, arena 54, beginning on the turn that starts around June 2nd. Keep in mind that this is a slow arena. Before I go on, I would like to personally thank the commission for procuring an outstanding top prize for this contest. This announcement follows my last and entry into the contest will be a minimum $5 donation, which I will pool and give to a charity in the San Diego area in Richard Hammes' name and memory. My address is at the end. Once the donation is made, I intend to notify RSI of the charity and amount we donated as a matter of pride for them and us in this game! I will notify everyone in an all arena ad as well. The contest is pretty simple. Any team may enter, there are no restrictions on fight experience! There are no challenges, avoids, bloodfeuds, or tourneys allowed and only one single use of the Dark Arena is allowed after the contest begins. To help eliminate any interference, I am going to allow avoids of non-contest teams in case they are there to manipulate and affect the winner of the contest. Scoring is as follows: 1 point for winning 1 point for killing (giving 2 in total, 1 for the win and 1 for the kill) 1 point for at least one of your warriors writing a personal (regardless of number of personals beyond one you still only get one point). Make sure it is written from one of your team's warriors and not simply the manager entity or you will not get the point. -1 point for losing -1 point for being killed (giving -2 in total, -1 for losing and -1 for being killed) The contest will last for 12 turns, again beginning roughly June 2nd. May I point out that if you use your Dark Arena fight you will get either 2 points, for winning, or -2, for losing, and ALL fights count in the scoring. It matters not if you fight a non-contest warrior or a stand-in; they still count as much as fighting a contest warrior. This will be a test of basic strategy with a touch of luck added in as well. If anyone should break the no tourney rule they will lose 5 points for each warrior entered and those warriors, and any subsequent warriors who replace them in death, cannot score points! Break the no DA, challenge, or avoid rules (except avoids of non-contest teams) and you will be DQ'd as soon as the transgression is discovered. To keep the contest playing field as level as possible, we will have no messing with these rules. Of course you may DA the one time, just as a clarification, but the second time gets you DQ'd. This also counts if it is found you bring a second team in for the purpose of making challenges. You can bring a second team, just don't think they can challenge to give you an advantage. This means DQ to your contest team. A second team may also enter the contest with its own donation of $5 and adherence to the rules. Well, enough of that, I'm sure you'd like to see the prizes so here they are: 1st place - +1 bonus to one warrior on the team, 1 resurrection potion, and 1 favorite knowledge 2nd place - +1 bonus for one warrior, 1 favorites knowledge 3rd place- +1 bonus for one warrior Iron Manager - Run 54 of the possible 60 fights and get a +1 bonus potion The resurrection potion may be used on any FE warrior, however the favorites and +1 bonus potions must be used on a warrior with at least 5 FE. These prizes also must be used within 2 turns of the ending of the contest. Even those rookie level teams can figure out a way to use that resurrection potion if you think night fight ;), after the contest of course, so don't think this is only good for experienced teams! Check your rosters and unused RU's and see if you can't find a reason to come and test your mettle! Again, entry fee is a minimum $5 donation, money order preferred method but if that doesn't work for you we can figure alternate means. If a hopeful entrant happens to be incarcerated and the only real means of making the donation is an account transfer, please make sure you let me know where the transfer came from and which team it is for. I prefer that this only be used as donation method by incarcerated players unless otherwise discussed with me. Please drop me an email, or diplo my team in Tobir(14), letting me know you are sending a donation for entry and the amount so I can be on the lookout for it in the mail. Thanks to all who have sent their sympathies regarding our game's loss of a kind and admirable soul and my best wishes to all!
