We had 13 fights total last turn, and they lasted for a total of 31 minutes. Two of the fights went eight minutes each, so those two accounted for more than half of the total minutes fought in Arvat last turn. I'd say those warriors should be arrested for being glory-hogs, but one of them was one of our own (Sinner), and he's rather shy and reserved so maybe it was just a fluke thing. Also, I noticed that we only had one lunger fight in the arena, yet we had four parry-riposte style warriors. Truly that must be unique in all of Alastari! Currently, my manager's warriors hold the throne in four different cities. Here, Zorpunt, Aljafir, and Chimlevtal. This represents the first time in his career that he;s held the throne in this many places at once. This fact should increase his notoriety and his income, so that will likely keep him off of our backs for a while, and that will definitely be a nice change. He told me to ask the other managers here what is their personal record for most duelmasters at one time. He said he thinks that the Dark One likely has him beat... Short and sweet this turn Arvat, just like I prefer my fights. Since Obsidian Golem is the only challenger champ below me, logic would dictate that we will be hooking up this turn, but because of United's bloodlust, the Golem will likely get out of fighting me. I'm presuming that means an arena stand-in. Also, another win will put me at 14 for my arena career. I'd like to think I'd be able to hang around here and hold the title long enough to overtake Savory's run which ended last turn, but very likely I'll be whisked away to the Isle before then. Killing Machine SPY REPORT Good day, friends and fiends, welcome to your friendly neighborhood spyreport. I doubt ARVAT will ever be the same. And let's see, LITTLE RAINBOW fought SENSOO O SURU and gained 13 points and contributed to FISHERMAN'S WHARF's 2-2-0. TASSALTER has lost to SILVER TRAIN, falling 8 points, while helping make FISHERMAN'S WHARF a 2-2-0 turn. We should ask BOATMAN KU about the thrill of victory, and what being the new Duelmaster does for a warrior, he's now the one to ask. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Swinging Aardvark? He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the THE STORMLORDS stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARVAT, what are you afraid of? And avoiding THE STORMLORDS more than any other team we find CALL THE PRIEST. ARVAT, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? Well, sports fans, take notice that TASSALTER from FISHERMAN'S WHARF was ARVAT's most challenged warrior this turn. In a brave attempt, STRATOSTAR from SARATOGA GLORY challenged up 25 points to fight BEFORE THE DAWN from the CALL THE PRIEST stable. STRATOSTAR perhaps got his just desserts, seeing as he subdued BEFORE THE DAWN and ended up with 63 recognition points. The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace. Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. Congratulations go out to THE STORMLORDS, with OBSIDIAN GOLEM revenging a bloodfeud against UNITED of CALL THE PRIEST. Is it really true that ARVAT has more dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask... Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare to fight bravely. Always good to rest in ARVAT, but never good to wear out my welcome. Look for me in future turns. Until you see my quill in ARVAT again, farewell-- Alarond the Scribe DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME BOATMAN KU 4130 14 22 1 100 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME LITTLE RAINBOW 4146 18 9 0 102 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) OBSIDIAN GOLEM 3975 23 19 1 99 THE STORMLORDS (337) SILVER TRAIN 4170 7 2 0 94 SARATOGA GLORY (352) CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SENSOO O SURU 3979 21 17 0 80 THE STORMLORDS (337) KILLING MACHINE 4139 13 4 1 74 CALL THE PRIEST (344) TASSALTER 4112 9 32 0 73 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) CHALLENGER ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME IZUSU TROOPER 4062 6 0 0 65 FLAMING DEATH (347) STRATOSTAR 4173 6 3 0 63 SARATOGA GLORY (352) LOGGERHEAD 4149 12 12 0 58 FISHERMAN'S WHARF (288) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME ELECTRIC EYE 4156 5 2 0 44 CALL THE PRIEST (344) BEFORE THE DAWN 4148 6 1 0 40 CALL THE PRIEST (344) CHARON 4103 7 5 0 34 THE STORMLORDS (337) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME M. I'm sure she's been calling you, and a dutiful son would GO HOME. -- Little Rainbow Obsidian Golem -- (shuddering) That black glitter... it got to me. Amazing what horrid things one can see in a piece of obsidian. Maybe it's really TRUE that it's formed in the fires of heck. -- Tassalter Stratostar -- Well, you're flying way too low! Who approved that flight plan? You're a hazard to navigation. -- Loggerhead, also a hazard to navigation, but sometimes life is like that Before the Dawn -- You want me to get up WHEN? You're insane! -- Boatman Ku P.S. And sadistic. The Icelord -- Thanks. -- Baskervole P.S. So how about a minor redesign on the Obsidian Golem so that he CAN drink a beer? Icelord/D. Noble -- Far be it for me to interfere with your little war. I'm not challenging either of you! -- the Dark One All -- Ah, the disgrace! Losing to Embezzling Scribe! Woe is me! -- S. My sword is yours to command. -- Raoul the Rude Destitute N. -- I am watching you. -- RTR He's got some good moves, doesn't he? -- Sugar Trainer -- You know me too well! Originally that was my intention, but when I read the newsletter and saw Icelord's challenge to me, and my coincidental return to the arena on the same turn...well, there's something to be said for karma, eh? -- D. Noble P.S. For the most part, it's saved money by not fighting this group in the upcoming tourney. Stormlords vs. Call the Priest update after 2 turns -- Stormlords 2 wins -- Call the Priest 3 wins w/1 kill Icelord -- A test of strategies this turn. I again challenge Freki w/Sinner, a rematch of my challenge last turn that you won fairly easily. Also, I challenged Charon w/Before the Dawn, a match you should win based upon style superiority, but we'll see if my strategy tweak worked. I'm guessing you'll go after United w/Obsidian Golem to avoid fighting Killing Machine (I did say you were wise). All in all, looks pretty bleak for me this turn, but that's why they make the fights go down--you never know what might happen! -- D. Noble P.S. I expect to see some homage to Terrible Two in 31, and if he continues on this pace I expect a HOF nomination. I truly believe the words I've said there about Napulak not being good enough for the HOF. How many managers participated in the voting besides you and your group? Then again, since I did not vote, I should not complain... the Trainer -- Not quite a war. Let's call it a little "Arvat Challenge 2005." At the least, I promise to liven up Arvat a little for the rest of the year. Trust me. -- The Icelord Arvat -- For the historic 500th cycle of Arvat, we are donating a chest of gold and 50 kegs of Polarian Wicked Ale! All warriors are invited to swill a few with us. This leaves Destitute N. out. -- The Stormlords Destitute N. -- I hope you enjoyed the column this turn. I look forward to the rest of 2005 here in Arvat. Let's just call it a "challenge." I had a lot of respect for you at one time. I think you should have told Bosk to his face, "We are going to challenge Freki. Use your avoids. If we kill him, we're going to have some good fun at your expense." If you said this to his face, he would of probably accepted it and used his avoids. He TRUSTED you. You spit in his face. Talon's ducking the BF, you naming a DA creation "Freki's Lover" and your ducking my later BF might be funny to you, but made me no longer respect you. Stuff like this is why, after 20 years of playing this game, I trust only a handful of people in this game. You play your game and I'll play mine. You disrespected my blood-brother and I intend to let you know I didn't appreciate it. You made it personal, not I. I will not be portrayed as the bad guy in this. We shall see where this goes. You know where to find me. -- The Icelord Destitute N. -- Your team spotlight said "our challenges will go through, and so will theirs because we're not going to avoid them at all." Debby Tonte said that we were the most avoided team and, wow, your team avoided us the most! What a revelation. Thor SHOULD have avoided, we grant you that. We will use our avoids. And try not to get too giddy if your AB manages to beat a TP. -- The Stormlords Destitute N. -- Well struck with United. Thor was 13-10-12-15-10-9-15 BA. He had learned 9 skills and had an expert in initiative. He has been returned to Polaris with honors. I guess he should have used his avoid. If United goes inactive, it wouldn't surprise me. TGWY. -- The Icelord Killing Machine -- Wow! Does an AB have a style advantage over a TP? -- Sensoo O Suru It depends. I've known some aimers with no sense of style at all, they'd have done better if they were color-blind. And a total parry here and there who really UNDERSTOOD how to accessorize an outfit. -- Sugar Call the Priest -- Not a bad name there. Bosk and I saw Judas Priest in Tokyo during their "Defenders of the Faith" tour. I still have my shirt and it still fits. I think I saw Destitute Noble there too, he was the little kid standing outside crying because the music was too loud. -- The Icelord Little Rainbow -- My apologies for the rough treatment. Look me up at the Free Blades Regional when you get your invite. The drinks will be on me. -- Savory Lord Protector Obsidian Golem -- You bricks have always been my bane of existence. I would have TCed if I only had a little more left in the tank. If I'm to make any noise at this upcoming Face to Face I need to solve my problems of getting tired too soon. I'll have to give you another shot after I've had my fun with Noble's warrior. Congrats on the win. -- Silver Train Bee vitamins. -- S. Loggerhead -- Jeez! I need to learn some more consistency. I guess that's what happens when I change things up a bit. I'm gonna be giving you another shot again real soon. Good job on the win. -- Stratostar Killing Machine -- I'm not sure how you avoided my TV challenge but I want a shot at that throne, buddy. I should have had it this past turn but you must have seen me coming. Expect multiple TV challenges from me in the future. -- Silver Train Before the Dawn -- Just so you don't feel all left out don't think I haven't forgotten about you. I just wanna have fun with your pal who's sitting on the top before I wipe the arena with you. -- Silver Train Killing Machine & Before the Dawn -- Just try and ignore Silver Train. He likes the sound of his voice too much. -- the Trainer Don't you all just love it when you get a full free turn and you don't get to DA 2 dead weighted warriors because the turn never shows up? I know I do.... (mumble, grumble, grumble....) -- the Trainer The Icelord -- Oh goody! I love a good rivalry!!! -- the Trainer The Stormlords -- Thank you for your kind words. -- Savory Next turn in is turn #500. I hope everyone will join me in the Team Spotlight! -- the Trainer Won't it be crowded? The "cast of dozens" thing. -- S. Here is the over/under on wins between the Stormlords and Call the Priest for the rest of the calendar year: Stormlords 43.5 Call the Priest 53.5 See the Trainer for wagering. We will start counting wins as of Turn 499. Saratoga Glory Stable will keep track of the records. Destitute Noble -- Any chance of getting Wanna Be back here??? -- the Trainer The Icelord -- Well done! You must teach this lout, Desperate Noble, the price of diarrhea of the mouth! I salute you! -- High Lord Bosk Lin Tirian (dm 78) is fast approaching turn 300. Be there! Maybe if I type these ads they will get printed. I know my handwriting causes the typist fits, so since I have the time for once, I can make a better show of it. -- the Dark One Thank you. I'm not the typist, but I'm sure it's appreciated. -- Temp Ed. Electric Eye -- I just can't get on the winning track. But one day... -- S. Moe Dius All -- This is the first time in a while that we have no veterans on the squad. We hope to make a decent showing of things, however and show that you should still fear...the young Devil Advocates. The Trainer -- Hey, I haven't written personals in years so for me just trying is pretty impressive. At least I haven't forgotten how to spell. -- the Dark One All right, I'll try to get a spotlight together for turn 500. Wow. That's a lot of turns. I started on turn 62 I believe. -- the Dark One Well, it would appear that Hal set something down on top of our personals and lost them last time, but Informed Persons think they should be in this time. We'll see. -- Fisherman's Wharf Tad Deville -- Off you go, now. And don't forget that nothing worthwhile can be accomplished without lemon. -- Tassalter Stratostar -- Hmm, perhaps if you were to head for the stratosphere, you would do better. And then again, perhaps not, for remember, bread is the legacy of wheat. -- Loggerhead Savory -- I distrust these secret admirers. They're hiding something. If you run across any clues, let me know. -- Little Rainbow Charon -- You might find it easier to win a rowing contest if you left the three- headed dog on the shore. His, or their, habit of hanging over the side and attempting to catch sharks in their mouths is enough to unsettle the best of boats. -- Boatman Ku The Trainer -- (bowing) Thank you. -- Lord Protector Baskervole the Retired Iaye has turn 500 coming up--one month! Be there. 4 May 2005 Several questions have been asked about Slaughter's Challenge that I'd like to address and clarify. 1) All Prizes must be used on the contest team, this includes the resurrection. Remember any fast arena team should be able to transfer to a slow arena (except for arena 82, I believe). 2) Warriors will be allowed to fight and run in the dead tourney, should there be one, and return if an opening can be made without breaking the rules (i.e. only one DA fight allowed per team). 3) If you win your single DA match you do not get another. It's one use of the Dark Arena win or lose so if you want him/her/it dead be sure and throw the match! 4) The resurrection potion's longevity has been extended by the commission to 6 months but the other potions (favorites, and +1 bonus) must still be used within 2 turns and on a 5 FE or higher warrior. The resurrection can go on any warrior regardless of FE. Street Legal P.S. My thanks to those already entered (Hammer, The Consortium, Tripwire, Stik, and Shaman) and hope many more find a reason to come to arena 54. Again, my email is triumph1971@hotmail.com or you can diplo me in arena 14 at THE DEATH SQUAD (63) if you need more info! 21 May 2005 Amendment for "Fratsfas Quest for the Best!" Managers that have teams already established in Fratsfa need not have (3) three warriors in the initiates. FE will NOT be a factor. Stables may be entered at any time. Just announce your stable in the p-ads. *************************************************************************** This in my invitation to all managers who wish to prove their mettle against managers from all over Alastari. We have limited TP's in this contest to one a team at a time. We DO NOT want this contest to become a scum fest as many others have, hence the Andorian arena.
