SPY REPORT
So why do I have this bag over my head? Because I am The Unknown Spymaster and
I'm going to give you a spy report!. Say good-bye to CALL THE PRIEST, as they are
pushed from the coveted top team spot by the SARATOGA GLORY stable. For every winner
there is a loser. Speaking of losers, lets take a look at CALL THE PRIEST, who went
down to 1st from 5th. Life is tough. DEVIL ADVOCATES is no joke as it posted a
4-1-1 week advancing from 3rd place to 2nd place. Call it luck at the right time or
bribes in the right hands, but the new team ANGELS OF PAIN scored a 4-1-0 record this
week. Hey everybody, watch out for M. A. FISTAFOLES, who flew up 25 points in the
rankings after mashing BEFORE THE DAWN like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. And
falling like a basher in the top ten was LITTLE RAINBOW, who dropped 12 points after
a disappointing (to say the least) bout with ELECTRIC EYE. Well here's a duelmaster
that doesn't sit back and say 'Challenge me'! SILVER TRAIN made a challenge against
OBSIDIAN GOLEM this week. Going for the gusto and coming up with aught but bloody
knuckles was THE STORMLORDS' OBSIDIAN GOLEM, who was turned away from the
Duelmastership by SILVER TRAIN. Can you believe they are paying me 10 gold to
deliver this stuff?
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the ARVAT arena. Here's a
song for you: Who's afraid of the big, bad DEVIL ADVOCATES? Big bad DEVIL
ADVOCATES. Big bad DEVIL ADVOCATES. ARVAT's afraid of the big bad DEVIL ADVOCATES.
Tra la la la la! For those of you who like math, try this one: DEVIL ADVOCATES +
Weapons That go Boom = DEVIL ADVOCATES + Avoid City. Well just about everybody wants
a piece of CHARON, who was this week's most challenged warrior.
Remember that an arena is not always a safe place to be, but it is one of the
most interesting, though! The audience likes blood and there was plenty of it
covering S. MOE DIUS as he was driven to an early grave by MORDANT DESERTER of the
ARVAT. Remember: alliances are great, but try and take your ally in the arena with
you and see what happens.
Well, that wasn't too bad; Alarond told me that the people in ARVAT have no
sense of humor. Or maybe that they were senseless. C'mon, Leadfoot, let's make some
tracks. Its been fun, and I'm sure you enjoyed it (boos). Now that I've got you
worked up for Snide Clemens, I'll be leaving-- The Unknown Spymaster

PERSONAL ADS
Editor -- Thanks for running both team spotlights. I was unaware there was a change
in policy. Was this brought on by arenas like Jhans? Would the team spotlight
titled "Freki Must Die!!!" printed in Arvat on turn #439 be printed today or
rejected? I'm curious because that was "primarily real-world" and is a large part of
my response here. I fully support not allowing others to write your
managers/gladiators into a story if it is not wanted. I am not trying to be a smart
aleck, I just want to make sure I understand what you are going to delete. D. Noble
wrote a personal ad on turn #499 here in Arvat and it talked about his warrior in
Chimlevtal, the Chimlevtal HOF and Lord Protector Napulak of Chimlevtal. I replied
on turn #500 (it was not real-world) and it was deleted. I've been on Ghea for 20
years and thought I knew what would get tossed. Thanks. -- The Icelord
Yes, there has, of late, been too much "real world" animosity in the
newsletters, which needs to be curbed. As for your ad about the Chimlevtal
stuff, I think I forwarded it to Chimlevtal to be printed; didn't realize it was
meant for here. I think the one you replied to ran when I was out of town. --
Ed.
The Trainer & The Dark One -- Great team spotlights! Keep it up! -- The Icelord
Killing Machine -- You talk of overtaking Savory and then you promptly lose the
throne and get thrashed by Obsidian Golem. Your manager is over-confident and shows
a lack of respect for the other gladiators here. -- The Stormlords
Destitute N. -- I tried to reply to your personal ads that focused on warriors in
Chimlevtal but for some reason they were deleted. They were not real world or over
the line, so I have no idea why they were cut and the rest of my personals ran. Do
you know why? -- The Icelord
High Lord Bosk & RTR -- The chesire cat is not worthy of polishing your boots, mighty
warriors. -- The Icelord
Little Rainbow -- You're welcome. -- Sensoo O Suru
Silver Train -- Congrats on the title! -- The Stormlords
Destitute N. -- Go back and read the team spotlight you and Talon Coward wrote on
turn #439 entitled "Freki must die!!!" I don't think that would get printed now a
days. Also, remember you ran a DA warrior called "Freki's Lover" in Chimlevtal and
ducked my BF here in Arvat. You're just lucky I didn't slap you with that gauntlet
long ago. I was busy and distracted, but now here I am. Time to answer for your
actions, "Noble" one. Don't mix apples and oranges. This is about your actions in
Arvat and Chimlevtal. (I'm ready to take this off-line when you are.) -- The Icelord
Destitute N. -- You said "my main goal the rest of this year is to beat The Icelord
here, and seek their group out in any arena..." <lol> I'm REALLY trembling! I'm in
Chimlevtal, Arvat and Primus. -- The Icelord
Stratostar -- We say that turnabout is fair play. Note Electric Eye's ending of
Isuzu Trooper's undefeated streak, just as you had ended my streak the previous turn.
We decided we didn't want to wait for you to do it and hog all the glory. -- B4 The
Dawn
P.S. Massive upset you pulled? Given your style advantage I'd hardly call it that.
The massive style upset happened last turn when that dirty dog Obsidian Golem
overcame Killing Machine....
Dark One -- I'll guess I'll be using my avoids against you now also. Were I another
manager I would've called you a coward and a backstabber who spit in my face for
challenging me the turn after you said you would not. Instead, I look back on our
legendary history and understand that sometimes those things happen--it makes one
more appreciative of one's successes, and also a bit more wary for next time.
Besides I won the challenge and beat another of your warriors in a random matchup. --
D. Noble
Icelord -- After reading your spotlight, I gained a bit of insight into your group's
way of thinking and why the killing of Freki was such a huge deal. Nonetheless,
what's done cannot be undone, and we forge ahead with our challenge. You now lead by
one, but there are many turns to go. -- D. Noble
Greetings to the returning teams! Anyone know was the last that Arvat fielded eight
teams? -- D. Noble
Boatman Ku -- That's all you could teach me?? One lousy skill? I like Tassalter
better than you. You won't be seeing me around anytime soon. -- Silver Train
Loggerhead -- I was worried that the boss wanted me to give you another shot after
you beat me so badly in our last fight. I see that new strategy worked wonders for
me though. I feel more confidant if you ever want to have another go at it. Good
luck to you. -- Stratostar
Ulthar Ulsay -- Gotcha again. You actually had me sweating a little this time. I
thought for sure that you were going to collapse a lot sooner as you seemed exhausted
in minute 4. It shocked me that you still had 9 more minutes left in you. --
Personal Legend
Embezzling Scribe -- Didn't your mother ever teach you not to steal? -- Topiary

Ed. -- I like that...the welcome wagon. Would that title come with a badge? I'd
like to have a badge. -- the Trainer
Sure, you can have a badge. The best I can do is a "Junior G-Man" badge though.
-- Ed.
the Icelord -- Definitely very interesting thus far. Let's see how long you can hold
the lead. -- the Trainer
the Dark One -- Great team spotlight!!!! Keep it up. -- the Trainer
Destitute Noble -- So, you figured out my duel identity did you? Took you long
enough. You get a cookie! -- the Trainer
Destitute Noble -- It was our pleasure to end Dawn's streak. If there are any other
warriors that you have that you would like for me to knock from the ranks of the
unbeaten please let me know. We'll be more than happy to oblige. -- the Trainer
Ed. -- See, I can be a nice guy when I want to. -- the Trainer
Especially if you're giving out cookies! -- Ed.
Tassalter -- Sorry about that again. It is an honor to have dueled with you. I hope
that makes things a little less painful. -- Silver Train
Silver Train -- (groaning) I've been hit by a train! Good work on your part, very
poor on mine. -- Boatman Ku
Stratostar -- Are you supposed to be flying that thing so low? -- Loggerhead
Kung-Fu Master? But I didn't have my Kung-Fu shirt on! -- Little Rainbow
The Convicted Assassin is a, well, something he shouldn't be. Or maybe he should,
hard to say. -- Tassalter
The Trainer -- After I get moved, I will hunt up the missing warrior, or ask the
Commission to send me a new one. At present, it's all I can do to get the personals
out. -- Jorja
The Trainer -- Sorry to disappoint, but my team isn't going to be beating in anyone's
brains any time soon. They are works in progress at the moment and definitely need
some time on the vine to ripen. -- the Dark One
D. Noble -- Slipped one challenge in there vs. Sinner. S. Moe Dius is so bad that I
figured I had a 10% chance of winning, but he's trying anything to not get DAed. The
one skill hurts, tho.... -- the Dark One
P.S. My record for most titles held at one time was seven. I held Gateway, Primus,
Free Blades, Arvat, Kurukar, Daiyla Kiv and Malcorn at the same time. They were the
only arenas I was in at that point. It was also the only time to my knowledge that
all top three arena titles were held by one manager.
S. Moe Dius -- Your time grows near! -- the rest of the guys
All -- The 500th turn went off well, though my 1-4 was most disappointing. Four
spotlights and a number of personals...well done! -- the Dark One
7 June 2005
I am in the process of moving house, and spotlight writing for the next two months
will be very hit-and-miss. -- the Scribe

ATTENTION ALL YOU ALLIANCE-TYPE PEOPLE:
For the purposes of tourney newsletter alliance listings (when I am able to do them),
you may only be listed in ONE alliance. In other words, you have to choose! If you
are a part of Englebert's Alliance and Englebert's Alliance is "part" of Ruthrauf's
Alliance, I will list you EITHER as part of Englebert's Alliance OR as part of
Ruthrauf's Alliance, NOT both. The default would be the top-level alliance,
Ruthrauf's, in this example. If you'd rather be listed separately, let me know and I
will do so, but that will be the only listing you get. -- The Saint, keeper of ever-
more-complicated lists
29 Jun 2005
The Company of Brothers (TCB) welcomes two new members to our alliance...Liam the
Goth and Buddy Lee. We have no doubt that they will prove to be assets to our
alliance and the general dueling community. -- Baphomet, co-founder, T.C.B.
