                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Hah, me beat up devil. There seem be lots of devils here. Greth beat them all! Why
do Greth foes keep disappearing? Greth beat them once and they no longer in arena?!?
It no shame to lose to Greth. Greth good! You no have to hide if you lose. What?
They go to some place called "Isle of I"? That place where losers go? HAHAHA!!!

Greth hope Greth do good in Adepts tourney. Greth think Greth very adept. Greth
just wish Greth not learn so much parry. Greth favorite learn is not Greth favorite
thing to learn! If Greth had good favorite learn like decise, Greth be unstoppable.
Instead, Greth just good because of bad favorite learn. Also Greth wish Greth could
use real weapon instead of all these lame weapons that Greth well suited to. Oh
well. Rillion tell Greth that if Greth go to this Isle of I place that Greth get to
use real weapon as soon as Greth 'hit the weights'. That sounds good, Greth like to
hit things.

Greth

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail ARVAT! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. It seems the training can make the difference, as DEVIL ADVOCATES is pushed
out of top team by PHILANTHROPISTS, who came from 5th with a 5-0-0 this turn.
PHILANTHROPISTS stable has parlayed this turn's 5-0-0 into a 4 space move up the
rankings. This brings them up to 1st place. Good work, guys! And let's see,
JUSTICE fought FREKI and gained 19 points and contributed to ANGELS OF PAIN's 2-3-0.
ROLAND has lost to MIMOSA, falling 15 points, while helping make RILL'S GCSC2 a 1-4-0
turn. Defending his title for another turn, GRETH kept ANGELS OF PAIN's warrior,
FURY, from claiming the throne. Tell me, is nothing sacred? I have heard from
unimpeachable sources that The Warty Toad uses trolls in their stew. Talk about
gristle!
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the DEVIL ADVOCATES
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARVAT, what are you afraid of?
And avoiding DEVIL ADVOCATES more than any other team we find DEVIL ADVOCATES.
ARVAT, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most challenged
warrior this turn was FISHERMAN'S WHARF's warrior LOGGERHEAD. More fighters
challenged him than challenged the Duelmaster! DAMNATION of ANGELS OF PAIN had
better have a good reason for challenging down 13 points in a challenge which he won.
I thought DAMNATION showed great skill and promise when he bested LOGGERHEAD. All
right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. We'd like to remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their enemies.
You know who you are; and it's considered rude.
I like this place, ARVAT, the taverns have old wine, and young serving girls.
Who could ask for more? Well, I'm burning daylight here in ARVAT and I've a long
road ahead of me. Happy Trails. Until you see my quill in ARVAT again, farewell--
Alarond the Scribe

Freki -- You're a Karnhorn? Heck. I had you figured for Harkene, with freckles.
(sigh) Names can be so deceiving.... -- Loggerhead
P.S. Good fight, I guess.

I.M. Ceytin -- Well, I think it's hard, is what I think. Things with names like
yours are supposed to make people WELL, and you do just the reverse. Ouch. -- Peter
Pepper

Phifden -- Are you any relation to one of our former teammates, Phizzgigue? I just
wondered, because there is something about your name that brings him to mind. He
drops in now and then and says he MIGHT try gladiating again, if a suitable slot
appears. -- Sarlow
P.S. Which is NOT to suggest that you should kill me! Or any of my other teammates,
except maybe Loggerhead, who wouldn't notice. What Phiz wants is a slot with a large
SZ. In fact, he would have taken mine, if I hadn't nipped in ahead of him and
snatched it.
P.P.S. Very useful skills. Thanks.

Idrial -- I will never understand elven women. Human women are hard enough, but
elven women...? Forget it. I still don't know what you expected of me last night.
Can't you just SAY what you want? -- Heron

Ron Way -- No... I think that's probably the RIGHT way. Or else you'd've lost,
wouldn't you? -- Gripple

Ed. -- Well, maybe this is Hal's way of saying he doesn't like spam and would rather
have a peanut butter sandwich? -- Jorja
P.S. So would I.

True. Spam is for use when the dog won't share the dog food any more. -- Ed.

Gelen -- Keep attacking my teammates (not me), and you can probably win again. --
Sarlow

Ed. -- Probably. -- Loggerhead
P.S. I must be feverish, because that actually sounds...tempting.

Hey, if it's FRESH, it's good stuff! -- Ed.

Sarlow -- The beer works best if it isn't all around but instead is carefully stored
inside a person. Preferably those that have to forget what a horrible day they had
out in the arena. -- Gelen

Mimosa -- Tough luck on that match up. I hope it happens again! -- Roland

Torment -- Wow, I got lucky. I really have no idea why I am doing so well. It must
be luck! -- Demmell

Eve Elwon -- Do you have a teammate named Eve Ellose that I could fight instead? --
Demetren

Jhanti Gravett -- Argh, didn't we just do that last turn? Why can't I fight someone
else instead of you? I mean you could share the wins with others you know! -- Gelen

Rillion -- Seems you feel rather strongly about a manager running 5 warriors a turn.
Does that passion apply to every team a manager runs or just here in Arvat? -- The
Icelord

Destitute N. -- Buh-bye! -- The Icelord

A few notes about e-mailed personals:

You may submit personal ads, columns, spotlights, etc. electronically, either via e-
mail to ads at reality dot com (which doesn't need any more spam, thank you) or on
the web at http://www.reality.com/duel2/modules.php?name=Ads. When you submit
something, you should get back a receipt from HAL at RSI. If you do NOT get a
receipt, your ads may have gone astray (not all e-mail makes it to its destination
any more than all snail mail does). If you DO get a receipt, it should, in the body
of the message, tell you what arena your stuff was filed in. Check your receipt to
make sure your submission made it to the intended destination. Also check to see
that everything you sent made it to the same place. Sometimes HAL, who is rather
simple-minded in some ways, will send half your stuff to another arena if the name
or number of that arena shows up at the beginning of a line. So if the word Ti
appears at the beginning of a line halfway through your ads, all the ads after that
may end up in Ti, which is closed and doesn't need ads. As a side note, sometimes
things move slowly, so don't wait until the last minute to send your ads and all.
If they get held up along the way, they may not show up until next turn. Happy
writing! -- Ed.

We of the Desolate Empire Alliance want to welcome two managers to our fold. Kon of

To all those lookin' for some easy pickins: I, Elfwine, manager of The Shallowship,
the most feared team in all of Jhelum, invite all who seek wide open spaces for pubs
and other such establishments of limited debauchery, to visit this deserted city and
help me clear up some of the dust. I'm just about ready to have my guys face off
against each other to get some new action. Guess I'd better join a tournament or
something...hmmmm, there's a thought.
