                             Notes from the arena champ.

Greetings Arvat!

I am the very first of my team to make it to the honored position of Duelmaster.
This is somewhat surprising, since I am neither the oldest, most skilful or most
promising of my guild, however I am the fastest and I do hit the hardest. That
counts for something, I suppose!
My battle against the tough and skillful Greth was not particularly inspired.
In fact, where I considered him lucky to beat me last cycle, I think I was the
fortunate one this time and won a battle I should have lost. It seems these things
balance out. I plan on throwing my challenge to Loggerhead this turn--he used an
inspired strategy change to defeat Damnation last cycle and I am going to see if I
can avenge that loss.
I see that the arena has grown somewhat smaller. However, the competition is
growing in skill. Our manager mentioned seeing some of the Philanthropists at the
tourney and we are sure that they will soon be up here at the top of the arena!
That is all for this week. With luck I will be back next turn with a new
column!

                              Fury

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail ARVAT! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. And let's see, LOYALTY fought MORDANT DESERTER and gained 13 points and
contributed to VIRTUOUS LEGION's 3-2-0. GRIPPLE has lost to RON WAY, falling 7
points, while helping make FISHERMAN'S WHARF a 1-4-0 turn. This week's Duelmaster
bout was between LOGGERHEAD and our Duelmaster FURY, making a challenge. Defending
his title for another turn, FURY kept FISHERMAN'S WHARF's warrior, LOGGERHEAD, from
claiming the throne. Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top team makes
their losing fighters do dishes at The Dripping Blade until they win. Maybe?
The crowd's roar, the smell of iron and leather, mixed with sweat, what more
could a warrior ask of life? Well, besides that. I also notice that the DEVIL
ADVOCATES stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARVAT, what are you
afraid of? And guess who avoided DEVIL ADVOCATES stable the most? Believe it or
not, it was DEVIL ADVOCATES. Anyone surprised? The most challenged warrior this
turn was RILL'S GCSC2's warrior ROLAND. More fighters challenged him than challenged
the Duelmaster!
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. We'd like to remind certain teams not to rob the graves of their enemies.
You know who you are; and it's considered rude.
Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare
to fight bravely. Always good to rest in ARVAT, but never good to wear out my
welcome. Look for me in future turns. Until you see my quill in ARVAT again,
farewell-- Alarond the Scribe

Freki -- Indeed, a promising win for me. I am perhaps the first warrior from our
combined stables to beat you--and with a style disadvantage to boot. This is the
second or third time that as I have become tired I have gone into berserker fury. It
was still a very good fight. -- Justice

Greth -- I can't believe I managed to lose that fight. Nice riposte. -- Fury

Demetren -- Very funny! Eve Ellose! Ha ha ha ha!! I liked that! But no, your team
has been very good against mine this far and I need to try to even the balance when I
get the chance! -- Eve Elwon

Icelord -- We're trying to turn Arvat into an old style arena--every team fights
every turn with every warrior. No tourney timing or tourney warriors--just good,
tough, basic DM competition! We could use a few more teams, though! -- the Dark One

Eve Elwon -- I seem to like that weapon. -- Rolton

Justice -- Veteran Merc is a pain in the butt isn't he? -- Tripwire

All -- Welcome Frost Giant. He will be here for awhile along with Rolton. I am
sending two to the Dark Arena to see what comes my way. I can say I won't be running
all five full time, but I will continue to DA until I get tournament warriors and at
least run full time between tournaments. That's about as much as I can offer. --
Tripwire

Can we get a list of who manages who in this arena? -- Tripwire

Ask me again next turn. I'm afraid I'm on the road right now and away from
my data. -- The Saint, keeper of lists

Dark One -- Wow, you were most avoided and you avoided yourself the most.... Are you
actually challenging yourself or do you just like the mention in the spy report? ; )
-- Aragorn

Roland -- That was another good one! Maybe, I can make a comeback in a series of
five? I don't feel too bad since I did end the fight hitting you with a crit, I am
erasing from my memory the part shortly after that where I fell on my face. Since
I've forgotten that, I now think I won the fight. Maybe, YOU can make a comeback in
a series of five? Maybe, next time.... -- Mimosa, who now thinks he is 12-0 (don't
tell him he is really 7-5)

Roland -- Thanks, by the way, Mimosa doesn't need to be up there too early.... --
Aragorn
P.S. Do me a favor and just play along if he starts bragging about beating you....

Misery -- How gracious of you to compliment me after that whoopin'. Nice rating....
-- Phifden

Rillion -- Thanks for keeping up the personals when others like myself can't seem to
find the time...trying a little harder now.... -- Aragorn (hopelessly surrounded by
stacks of paper and his son's toys)

All -- I'm familiar with all of the active managers here, although I need a reminder
who runs Gemstone Beasts...Soultaker? Sentinel? Anyone I know? Nice to meet you,
by the way.... -- Aragorn

Loggerhead -- Excellent strategy change! See! I knew you guys could put up more of
a fight. -- Damnation

Rillion -- My guys finally seem to have turned it around against your crew! At least
the competition won't be quite so challenging for you! -- the Dark One

Icelord -- Hopefully your absence last turn was an aberration; it would be a shame
for you to leave Arvat! -- the Dark One

Damnation -- Just the thing I said when I got up this morning and found that ALL my
socks have holes in the toes AND none of them make a pair. It was annoying. --
Loggerhead

Idrial -- Well, that was dumb, kid. I may not be a great warrior, but I do have a
bunch of experience compared to you. -- Heron

Demetren -- Well, THAT you could do, and very well. Thanks for not killing me. --
Peter Pepper

Hmm, all our fights this time were challenges. You don't see THAT around very often
these days. -- Jorja

All -- I've seen what's on the forum. So I'm prey, am I, Max. You and all your
devious buddies will become my prey, even those I thought okay. I don't have to
explain anything I do, much like yourselves so bring it on. Feel free to come over
to 31 for a thrashing. Oh, by the way, I am also in a new alliance. They tend to
share my sentiments about the VC. If they follow me or not, we will see; I'm not at
liberty to talk for them. The VC may be on their last stand!!!! -- Blackstorm

6 May 2006
The 2006 Mordanti Alliance Olympics are off to a grand start! With seventeen teams
declared, running under eight different flags (not to mention six additional non-
Olympic teams present), it is looking to be as tough as any previous Olympiad, if not
more! Olympians petitioned the Commission to make an allowance for late entries, and
the Commission agreed, and will allow new entrants to partake, as long as they are
active by Round 3 (T546, due May 29th). So if you wish to enter, please email your
intentions to amicitia@gwi.net with team name, manager name, and affiliation
(alliance name or independent), or show up in Mordant (DM-1) on, or before, May 29th
and place your declarations in the newsletter!
