DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Hail Arvat!
I, Bill Berith, have returned as your Duelmaster. Unfortunately the arranged title
battle with Sextus did not go off as planned. Certainly the fight itself was fine.
I leapt forward and struck the first blow, hitting the noble Roman in the arm. The
wound was deep and clearly crippling, so the Arenamaster stopped the fight and Sextus
was carried off to the infirmary.
Imagine my surprise when some hours later after my sauna and massage, I heard that I
was being credited with a kill. Sextus had been dropped several times on his way to
the hospital and bled out. He was dead. Though the wrath of the Romans is upon the
clumsy hospital staff and not me, I still feel somewhat responsible. Sextus was a
powerful fighter and skillful opponent. He will be missed.
Let there be a moment of silence in his honor at the noon hour every day this week to
celebrate his life and untimely death.
There is some additional news for our extended stable. The Primus team, which has
included many Devil Advocates in its numbers, has finally achieved 2,000 wins. Quite
the achievement. Now all we have to do is reach our 1,000 win goal here and we will
have the triple: 1,000 wins in basic, standard ADM, and Primus. That has been a
goal of the boss for some time, I hear. Perhaps there will be a great
celebration....

SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ARVAT brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Later days, BARN OF HORRORS, since
RILL'S GCSC2 took top team from you this turn, you guys are old news. Now keep the
taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for ANGELS OF PAIN, whose
0-1-0 this turn dropped them by 8 into 21st. Ha! BIG LAKE NOMADS turned their 2-3-1
turn into a 8th place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this, and you
get put on hit lists. Gee, I'm impressed, a 4-1-0 is nice, but don't get cocky,
RILL'S GCSC2, the Fates teach humility, and the Fates are proud. Of course, we're
all terribly impressed to see PSYCHOTRON win a fight and gain 25 points, terribly.
Tsk, tsk, PSYCHOTRON beat GELEN and GELEN lost 28 points. You're breakin' my heart.
And if variety is the spice of life, ARVAT may be getting bland, as BILL BERITH stays
top dog in the city. The Swinging Aardvark, humph! I've tasted better ale at
mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff? From ARVAT's trash dumps?
Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys.
NOTORIOUS, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided team.
Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led the way in this mass act of
cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was DEVIL ADVOCATES. Ha ha ha ha!
SHAI ALYT was challenged more times this turn than the Duelmaster. Now was the DM
insulted or feared? Heh, heh. I guess I can give a little credit to HOLD of ERRATA
for challenging up by 18 to GEROGE ROFT. HOLD won to get 29 points of recognition.
And we have LARS in a challenge, going down 13 points for the fight. Guess what? I
thought LARS showed great skill and promise when he subdued THE ORPHAN MAKER. All
right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Death and Taxes. The less death I see, the more it taxes my patience. Let's
see if anyone's dead or dying. Gee, SARATOGA GLORY, ain't it past due for sending
PERSONAL LEGEND Dark Arena? What took ol' '12-5-0' so long? Hope? Ha ha aha ha!
Now hey, I like to see a death as much as the next guy, but hey SARATOGA GLORY, whyja
send PERSONAL LEGEND to the Dark Arena, look at his record, huh? Honor is like a
chainmail shirt, it only shines through use. Certain nameless cowards will doubtless
rebuke me on this one.
I was about to buy a new quill pen the other day, but some fighter took it for

Our next summer FTF will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, July 27-29, 2007. It will be
held at the Sheraton Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta, on 3405 Lenox Road NE (404-261-9250).
Room rates are $95.00 per night, 1-4 occupancy. There is a free shuttle from the
MARTA station two blocks away and free parking, high speed internet (for extra charge),
