Notes from the arena champ.
Greetings, all!
In case any of you had not noticed (I know the leather cap I wear in the arena can
shade some of my features) I am P.Y.T., and that stands for something. Noble told me
that originally, when he first saw me, P.Y.T. stood for "pretty young thing". Since
then he says he has assigned new meaning to the letters P.Y.T. when it comes to
describing me--though he won't tell me what the acronym stands for in his head now.
Probably something dirty....
As for our steadily growing arena...hussah! It is fantastic to see so many (non)-
friendly faces and to know that you likely won't have to face the same warrior again
and again, like was the case when I first joined the games here in Arvat many years
ago. The challenger champ pool is still a bit light though, and littered with
warriors I do not really want to face. Bill, that Khalhums Dwarf is one tough
customer...ok...I've never really fought him, and he did not really look all that
tough, but he survived your onslaught so he must not be half bad. Sorry you won't be
collecting your "bonus" or whatever from the Dark One...he probably woulda withheld
it from you anyway. Our newest member Thunderkiss has made a big (and I mean BIG)
splash in the arena with a 2-0-1 start. As they say though, it's not how you
start....

Duelmistress on the throne.

SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly ARVAT games. Former top team RILL'S GCSC2 was
unseated this week as LUROCIAN GUARD moved up from 2nd ranking to take the top spot
with a 4-1-0 record for the round. I have begun to suspect trickery on the part of
ANGELS OF PAIN. How else weeks like this one's 4-0-0? How else the sudden move to
10th team? Fortune did not smile upon AAAAUUGH HAMMERZ this time out who this turn
suffered a fall into 20th position in the wake of a 0-2-0 round. Did only my eyes
note the 4-1-0 record which LUROCIAN GUARD managed to post this round? I don't doubt
that such a record will draw challengers! A new guild, THE JOKER'S WILD, entered
ARVAT with a clash this turn, showing off a 4-1-0 record. Indeed, a worthy addition
to the city guilds. CANDICANE caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission
as she skillfully bested NADAR and was awarded 21 points in recognition. In one of
the week's more notable duels, CANNIBALISTIC COW put down GEROGE ROFT, causing him to
lose 14 points of recognition in the process. Unwilling to wait upon the will of
others, Duelmaster P.Y.T. challenged ROLAND last week in a match to decide the fate
of the throne. The city has turned out in honor of ROLAND, for with his arena
victory he may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! Informants "close"
to the city champion have told me that he never fights without pantyhose on beneath
his armor. Watch out!
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city ARVAT. I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this week's
challenge seeking began. BIG LAKE NOMADS is feared. This much I can say.
Apparently the stalwarts of DEVIL ADVOCATES are catching the bulk of jests down at
the challenging board for their large share of the avoids. Mighty fighters cannot
but expect competition from those below. ROLAND take warning! You have more than a
few enemies in ARVAT. A match that raised a few eyebrows at the games this week, it
seems that DROOL ROCKWORM posted a challenge against the more highly recognized
DEMONIC EGG. The results, you ask? Well, the firebrand DROOL ROCKWORM beat DEMONIC
EGG. Remember warriors, this is the discipline of steel.
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. SNOWSTALKER has sworn to take up
religion upon living to tell of his recent bout with the Dark Arena horrors. A rare
thing indeed! Strange what qualities come forth in the face of certain doom. BIG
BETTY has the town astir with the news of hers Dark Arena victory! BILL BERITH, may
you forever slay thy enemies with impunity as you did SEXTUS. Are there none left in
ROMAN HEROES who hold honor as a virtue? THE WEAPONSMASTER must hold silent, for
this week he was humbled in the arena by a successful Bloodfeud won by THUNDERSTRIKE
of STORMBLADE. Hail THUNDERSTRIKE for thy victory! My hearty congratulations
CARKEN, for thy revenge upon THUNDERKISS 65, slayer of thy fallen comrade. Next time
it will know better, eh? Fate is a fickle mistress. She showers the miserable with
fortune but sets enemies against the victorious. Remember this!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in ARVAT. Nice atmosphere you have here! Sadly warriors, now longer can I
keep thy company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till
next we meet remember: a fool flies into a rage quickly and often. The wise are

Gelen -- No, no, NO! Was there ever such an inept fisherman? You don't just stand
there and jab everything that twitches, not unless you want a catch of minnows,
crawdads, frogs, and dragonflies, not to mention the odds of stabbing your own FEET.
I freely grant you superiority in the arena, but shallow-water fishing is MY arena,
and you have to do it RIGHT. Still as a fence post, preferably on one foot, and you
WAIT. You wait for a fish worth spearing, you wait for it to get into the right
position, you wait for the waves to still because you can't stab accurately through
water if there's any disturbance at all, you-- (sigh) You need patience to fish my
way. Maybe you need to try some other method, such as throwing dynamite into the
harbor and scooping up all the fish that are stunned by the concussion. -- Heron

*Each manager entering the Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse must submit one (1) Team Roll-Up
Certificate. Only certificates will be accepted for entry. All certificates
submitted will be used during the course of the contest as prizes.
PRIZES
*ENDURANCE AWARD: One (1) +1 Bonus Potion will be given to every team that competes
in 60 of the 65 contest fights.
*KILL MASTER AWARD: The individual manager with the most kills will receive a
Limited Immortality Potion. This potion may be applied to one (1) warrior. He/she
will be resurrected ONE-TIME if they are killed in Basic D2.
*TOP TEAM AWARD: Each manager on the winning team will receive the following prize
pack for their Slaughterhouse Dominance:
*One (1) +1 Bonus Potion
*Favorites Knowledge for one (1) Warrior
*Undisclosed amount of Team RU Certificates
Special note from RSI on prizes: All contest prizes must be used within three
months. All contest prizes may only be used on a living warrior on the participating
contest team in DM 45. The immortality potion may resurrect a warrior one time,
after a death in DM 45 only, after which time the potion disappears.
TIE-BREAKERS
In the unlikely event of a tie, pre-contest established tie-breakers will be
consulted to determine a winner. The tie-breaking criteria are known to the
Moderator and RSI. They will not be made public knowledge to avoid any exploitation.
