DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
Well, now here's a shock. Shea Tann is Duelmaster? No chance! Not with the big
guns of the Lurocian Guard here in the Challenger Champs and the power of Roland
lurking in the wings. That I managed to pull this off is rather remarkable.
Since it's even less likely that I'll be here after next turn, I have to give credit
where it is due. First my teammates who helped me learn and develop my skills every
cycle. Second my manager who believed in me even though I'm pretty unorthodox for my
style. And finally all my fans, who have picked me up when I've had tough times!
Thanks to you all!
No challenges this turn and no avoids. At least we should have a title fight within
the Brotherhood of the Blade, which is a good thing. I'd rather not fight Larry
again. He rang my bell, bell with that hammer of his early in our fight before I was
able to turn the tables.
That's about it for this turn. The tournament's coming up, though I will not be
going. So good luck to all!

SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ARVAT brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. BIG LAKE NOMADS turned their 4-1-0
turn into a 3rd place rank in the listings this turn. Any better than this, and you
get put on hit lists. Of course, we're all terribly impressed to see FRENZY win a
fight and gain 23 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, FRENZY beat KARLRAK and KARLRAK lost
18 points. You're breakin' my heart. And if variety is the spice of life, ARVAT may
be getting bland, as SHEA TANN stays top dog in the city. I'm not in a very good
mood today, but why am I telling you this? You want to know what's new, don't you,
ARVAT?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. ERRATA, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this
turn's most avoided team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led
the way in this mass act of cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was DEVIL
ADVOCATES. Ha ha ha ha! THE ORPHAN MAKER was challenged more times this turn than
the Duelmaster. Now was the DM insulted or feared? Heh, heh. Looks like time for
laurels or hemlock, DREAD was challenged by SLAPYOUINPUBLIC, who was ranked 31 points
below it. And sure, SLAPYOUINPUBLIC lost alright, but gained 1 recognition for his
pains. And pains they may indeed be! And we have WOE in a challenge, going down 11
points for the fight. Guess what? I thought WOE showed great skill and promise when
he overcame BOLT THROWER. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Some people like volunteer work in the hospitals. I volunteer for ARVAT's
morgue. More variety. Gee, CRUCIBLE, ain't it past due for sending RON BURGUNDY
Dark Arena? What took ol' '7-6-0' so long? Hope? Ha ha aha ha! Not that I'll be
buying the drinks, but I'll be glad to see STIM FORTA and TEAM SYMBI at The Warty
Toad tonight celebrating their bloodfeud victory over GRU THE HATED. We're all going
to die in the end, so why worry if the fate catches up with you sooner that later?
There's got to be a better place in ARVAT to get a drink than The Warty Toad!
Any suggestions? Well, I've had enough of this drivel, and I'm sure you have too.
