                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

Well, Arvat, I finally got the title and now I'm outta here.
Just call me Carnage. Not that I created much Carnage while I was here. My
manager had high hopes for me when I was trained, but apparently I learned the wrong
things and just didn't have any knack, according to him anyway. I still managed to
win 20 fights and get the title, so I'm feeling mighty fine about myself at the
moment.
I never wanted to be a gladiator anyway.
I've been instructed to make the following offer so I don't get to talk much,
just one more week on the sands and then retirement!

Carnage

POSTED: Arena recruitment effort, DM 32, Arvat -- seeing as our arena participation
has dwindled in recent months, we're offering the following incentive to any new
teams looking for a new home arena. We will GIVE a Free Rollup to any manager
willing to agree to fight in Arvat for the next 10 turns. We have a number of VERY
solid arena teams stockpiled, and while we don't promise tournament godlings, we are
certain we can come up with teams with 3, 4 or even 5 solid arena warriors to start
out with.
In addition we'll honor any no-challenge requests by relatively new managers to
help you get off on the right foot.
If interested, please contact the Devil Advocates via Diplo or contact
theDarkOne via IM on the www DOT reality DOT com site. We will even give a choice of
teams available if requested.

                                      SPY REPORT

If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
ARVAT brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Tsk, tsk, DEE S. TROYER beat PSIRENA
and PSIRENA lost 10 points. You're breakin' my heart. And if variety is the spice
of life, ARVAT may be getting bland, as CARNAGE stays top dog in the city. The Warty
Toad, humph! I've tasted better ale at mortuaries. Where do they get this stuff?
From ARVAT's trash dumps?
Well, let's take a look at some more misdeeds of you miserable sword-boys.
DEVIL ADVOCATES, I suppose you'll be glad to know you were this turn's most avoided
team. Care to know who is the most afraid of you? And who led the way in this mass
act of cowardice? Let's see, well, whatcha know? It was ANGELS OF PAIN. Ha ha ha
ha! Ooh, I'm frightfully impressed, FILLIS BOUY was this turn's most challenged
warrior. Watch that ego swell, sports fans. I guess I can give a little credit to
LIL ETHE of DEVIL ADVOCATES for challenging up by 19 to FILLIS BOUY. LIL ETHE lost
to get 82 points of recognition.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. We're all going to die in the end, so why
worry if the fate catches up with you sooner that later?
There's got to be a better place in ARVAT to get a drink than The Warty Toad!
Any suggestions? Well, I've had enough of this drivel, and I'm sure you have too.
Off like a dirty shirt of padded leather. Glad to see the back of this place-- Snide
Clemens

Reprinted from last cycle - since the spotlight was garbled by HAL: All -- (Well,
maybe saying 'all' is overstating it a bit, but at least anyone out there!) As you
can see, we've used a ton of Devil names in creating the Devil Advocates over the
years. And some we've re-used... In any case, if anyone comes up with a good,
original name for us to use in the future, you will get official credit and, if you
want, a team rollup sheet when the name is used. We could use a hand! Only caveat
is that it must be listed in the form of a name of a person--the way all our names
are in the list. We allow some flexibility therein. Thanks! -- the Devil Advocates

Psirena -- Good fight. I didn't look that impressive, but I'm working out the kinks.
I'll try you again shortly with a strategy change. -- Dee S. Troyer

Fillis -- Dang. You just have the knack of lulling me to sleep. I could have won
that fight. I want the title! -- Lil Ethe

Carnage -- Ah! I knew you'd get the title. Good work. Enjoy it. -- Sarlow

Murder -- You don't waste time, do you? Just as well, if you'd hit me more than
once, I might've died. I wouldn't have liked that. -- Fizzgigue

Lil Ethe -- Off your feed today? It's probably the heat. Nobody's at the best and
brightest once the heat index tops a hundred. -- Fillis Bouy
P.S. I had a pocket air conditioner in my armor. Expensive, but worth every penny.

Dee S. Troyer -- Odd. I'll make the comment Fillis should've, which is that we'd
expect a devil type to handle the heat better. And TEACH better. -- Psirena

You're not going to convince me that I faced a GENUINE Osksi Noble. What a wuss. --
Catfish Annie

Lil Ethe -- Parry I could use. -- Fillis

Our congratulations to Carnage. -- Jorja and Fisherman's Wharf
P.S. We'll think about devil names, but right now, it's too hot.
P.P.S. Odd, but the one style I haven't graduated from this arena so far is a
lunger. Hmm.

                        WINTER FACE-TO-FACE IN SUNNY ARIZONA!

Our next winter FTF will be held in Tempe, Arizona, January 14-16, 2011. It will be
held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tempe, Arizona (480-894-7444), the same hotel as
last year by popular request. Room rates are $129.00 per night, 1-2 occupancy, which
includes full cooked breakfast, complimentary manager's reception (yes, really!), free
airport shuttle, free parking and free high speed internet. There's a fitness center,
jacuzzi, and pool. The rooms are blocked--please make your reservation by December 22
before the block is released! (This is prime season for Phoenix, and people have been
unable to book rooms because they waited too long.) Look for the tournament info
sheet and minioverviews some time in December. We hope you're all looking forward to
it and that we will see you there!
