Notes from the arena champ.
All hail Arvat!
This is way cool. I get to be Duelmaster, for one turn at least. Apparently
all area couriers got bogged down in mud and flooding of local rivers and a TON of
gladiators didn't fight, including just about everyone in my way to the title.
That, coupled with a MUCH better fight against Psirena this turn, and I leaped
into the Duelmaster's throne. So, again I say, this is WAY COOL.
It's always amazing seeing the graffiti in historic places, and the slate slab
next to the actual throne in the arena that they make the Duelmaster sit in is very
impressive. There are engravings there from 25 years ago. I even found one from
Devil Advocate legend, B. Al Zeybub-- the first of us to take the title-- looks like
it was turn 78 of Arvat. THAT is a long, long time ago.
B. Al is still around on the Isle, they say. He's one of the drill instructors
they use to condition the endurance of the new arrivals at the Isle. Endurance is
key once you get there, as you have to go a long time to beat those open handed aimed
blows!
I don't have a heck of a lot of time to chat, as I need to go off and train a
bit. There's also an autograph signing at Murder's new tavern out by the waterfront.
Next turn I guess I'll find out if I'm worthy of being Duelmaster.

Good day, in ARVAT a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor. So
bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. Now keep the taverns open late
tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for SECRET SQUIRRELS, whose 1-4-0 this turn
dropped them by 4 into 8th. CALL THE PRIEST stable has parlayed this turn's 3-0-0
into a 5 space move up the rankings. This brings them up to 6th place. Good work,
guys! And let's see, DISTORTION fought DOMINATION and gained 30 points and
contributed to DEATH BY DESIGN's 2-2-0. DOMINATION has lost to DISTORTION, falling
21 points, while helping make ANGELS OF PAIN a 1-3-0 turn. Defending his title for
another turn, D. DAVE ELL kept FISHERMAN'S WHARF's warrior, PSIRENA, from claiming
the throne. Can someone confirm a rumor for me? I hear the top team makes their
losing fighters do dishes at The Welcome Wench until they win. Maybe?
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. I also notice that the DEVIL ADVOCATES
stable was the most avoided team this turn. Come on ARVAT, what are you afraid of?
And guess who avoided DEVIL ADVOCATES stable the most? Believe it or not, it was
SECRET SQUIRRELS. Anyone surprised? Well, sports fans, take notice that EVIL
FANTASIES from CALL THE PRIEST was ARVAT's most challenged warrior this turn.
S.W.A.T. from SECRET SQUIRRELS took a risk this turn by bravely challenging up 30
points in a challenge against HANNANNA. And crowds were on their feet when S.W.A.T.
claimed a victory from HANNANNA, and now has 46 points for his efforts. In a brave
attempt, BUNKER BUSTIN BUCK from SECRET SQUIRRELS challenged up 18 points to fight
DEVLIN D SEGIZE from the DEVIL ADVOCATES stable. BUNKER BUSTIN BUCK perhaps got his
just desserts, seeing as he was defeated by DEVLIN D SEGIZE and ended up with 3
recognition points.
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? HANNAMARIE has departed ARVAT, leaving FISHERMAN'S WHARF without
their 8-12-0 warrior. Question, just what was hers team doing at the taverns last
night? Is it really true that ARVAT has more dishwashers per capita that fighters?
Just thought I'd ask...
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. Well, I'm burning daylight here in ARVAT and I've a long road ahead of me.
