Notes from the arena champ.
Assur has finally released me! For years I've trained in his facilities, coming
to work every day to practice. For years Assur has put me off, saying he isn't ready
to let me go and isn't ready to fight me. My time has come and the persistence paid
many times over (My retirement income dramatically increased with the runner up
award, so I'm very pleased).
As many of you will know, I was the Runner Up in the Adept tournament. Now, I
will test my mettle and try to avoid a trip to Sheila Greywand by hopefully winning
in the Dark Arena. Everything I've heard suggests that the resurrection process is
painful and I'd rather avoid that. So farewell, Arvat! Hopefully with my departure,
there will only be full bottles available!

notes from Assur: A warrior that I felt was too good to retire completely and too
bad to enter into a tourney overcomes the odds and almost brings it all home. Empty
Bottle after last turn looked: 11-6-15-21-9-11-11 STK Poor End/Good Dmg, MO/MO ML,
learns Attack. I really thought he was favorite learn riposte. He entered the
tournament with skills at 18/18/20/3/8/28 and finished with skills at
23/19/25/7/10/30. Knowing his faves definitely helped a bit. The funniest part is
that if he hadn't been immortal, it is highly likely he would not have even entered.
SPY REPORT
Hail ARVAT! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. It seems the training can make the difference, as DEVIL ADVOCATES is pushed
out of top team by SECRET SQUIRRELS, who came from 2nd with a 3-2-0 this turn. Now
keep the taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for NOTORIOUS,
whose 0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 5 into 18th. THE CRIMSON CUP stable has
parlayed this turn's 3-2-0 into a 7 space move up the rankings. This brings them up
to 5th place. Good work, guys! The THE WALKING DEAD guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and
deserves to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can
lead. And let's see, FLORA D'LUNE fought PUNCH PUPPIES and gained 19 points and
contributed to THE CRIMSON CUP's 3-2-0. BALKIR has lost to PUTRID PAULA, falling 9
points, while helping make GIANT KILLERS a 0-4-0 turn. This week's Duelmaster bout
was between SHEWISH GIANT and our Duelmaster EMPTY BOTTLE, making a Dark Arena
Challenge. The crowds were amazed this turn, as SHEWISH GIANT killed the Duelmaster,
EMPTY BOTTLE, leaving FOUND IN THE SAND in mourning. This incredible death has
allowed, I might add, ABSOLUTION from ANGELS OF PAIN to ascend to the throne of
Duelmaster, and I hear DARK ARENA is not happy. By the way, was that our Duelmaster
that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Welcome Wench?
The crowd's roar, the smell of iron and leather, mixed with sweat, what more
could a warrior ask of life? Well, besides that. GIANT KILLERS has cause to stand
tall, as they were ARVAT's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a team
to beat. And avoiding GIANT KILLERS more than any other team we find SECRET
SQUIRRELS. ARVAT, are we going to accept, or respect this sort of thing? The most
challenged warrior this turn was FISHERMAN'S WHARF's warrior CATFISH ANNIE. More
fighters challenged her than challenged the Duelmaster! I don't know about you, but
ABSOLUTION challenging down 34 points to FISHERMAN'S WHARF's FIZZGIGUE, is not really
worthy of ANGELS OF PAIN. It pains me to see warriors take advantage of the system
like this. ABSOLUTION overcame FIZZGIGUE, as if it surprises anyone. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
HAPPY FEET, does your manager know you're challenging down 17 points to fight LISSIE
POOLE from THE CRIMSON CUP? I thought challenges were for warriors, not cowards
looking for easy wins. HAPPY FEET bested LISSIE POOLE, is nothing sacred?
We only live a short time in this world, so why not take a sharp blade, and
shave it close? This is not good to see. Why pray tell has PEPPERMINT been sent to
the Dark Arena by THE JOKER'S WILD? And why with a 2-0-0 record?? The manager of
GIANT KILLERS will not be pleased to learn that REDHAMMER, a 3-1-0 fighter, has been
killed at the hands of LORDS OF CHAOS' ARES. Is it really true that ARVAT has more
dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
I like this place, ARVAT, the taverns have old wine, and young serving girls.
Who could ask for more? Always good to rest in ARVAT, but never good to wear out my
