Notes from the arena champ.
'You there -- arena scribe. Take notes. And NO Embezzling!
I'm Dee N. Emmi. My name used to be... Well, that's not really important.
It's all about who I am now. I'm Duelmaster of Arvat, that's who. To get there I
had to beat this guy Spat or Squat, or something like that. In any case, he made
sounds like that when I hit him. A lot. Squish! That was it... No... I'll get it
eventually.
I'm a bit distracted by all these bugs I keep finding all over the place. Those
squirrels sure are smelly. They left all kinds of 'presents' in the Duelmaster's
wing of the Arvat arena. This place is filthy. I'm having the servants scour out
the whole place and we're adding lavender window treatments and fuzzy white carpets.
It's going to be totally rad!
Oh. Right. I'm supposed to be talking news in Arvat. Nearly everybody cleared
out for the tournament. Right now it's just me and Tia and two recruits who just
staggered in. One of them looks good, in any case. It's REALLY boring around here
come tourney time. The sands thin out and everyone takes off. At least the lines at
the bars are easier to navigate. So we're sending a couple of Devils and FOUR Angels
to the tournament. The boss has high hopes for some of them. I didn't get a chance,
but then again I was right in the middle of a class, so it probably wasn't the best
idea. Maybe next time!
What else is new? I was just offered a modeling deal for a local ale brand, but
they wanted me to say I liked the stuff, and, honestly, it tasted like cow pee. Not
sure exactly what that tastes like, but it's kind of how I'd expect it to taste. I'm
also trying to work around all these dates I've been getting notice of. Well, not
dates, challenges. Looks like everyone is challenging me, all of a sudden. I guess
that's what it's like being popular.

Hail ARVAT! Warriors of the arena, prepare to be praised and blamed for your
deeds. It seems the training can make the difference, as COLLEGE RADIO is pushed out
of top team by THE CRIMSON CUP, who came from 3rd with a 3-2-0 this turn. Now keep
the taverns open late tonight, for there are sorrows to drown for GIANT KILLERS,
whose 0-0-0 this turn dropped them by 6 into 18th. ANGELS OF PAIN stable has
parlayed this turn's 2-0-1 into a 7 space move up the rankings. This brings them up
to 12th place. Good work, guys! The DEVIL ADVOCATES guild has had a 4-1-0 turn and
deserves to be watched in the future. You never know where this kind of thing can
lead. And let's see, CLAIRE D'LUNE fought TERRI and gained 23 points and contributed
to THE CRIMSON CUP's 3-2-0. TERRI has lost to CLAIRE D'LUNE, falling 19 points,
while helping make BOWL O'RAMA a 2-3-0 turn. This turn DEE N. EMMI challenged MATHEU
in what was ARVAT's Title bout. Defending hers title for another turn, DEE N. EMMI
kept ASSORTED's warrior, MATHEU, from claiming the throne. By the way, was that our
Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under the table at The Dripping Blade?
He who challenges well, fights well. He who avoids without cause, shall lose
for good reasons. My mama told me that one. GOING APES has cause to stand tall, as
they were ARVAT's most avoided team. A smart manager knows this is a team to beat.
And guess who avoided GOING APES stable the most? Believe it or not, it was SECRET
SQUIRRELS. Anyone surprised? Well, sports fans, take notice that LISSIE POOLE from
THE CRIMSON CUP was ARVAT's most challenged warrior this turn.
A coward dies a thousand deaths, a brave man only once. Wise men know this to
be true. THE CRIMSON CUP has lost LISSIE POOLE to the arena in the sky, but they
don't seem to be worried. What do you expect from 4-5-0? Is it really true that
ARVAT has more dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
Thought for the day, a new sword shines bright, but the notched sword sings the
sweetest. Always good to rest in ARVAT, but never good to wear out my welcome. Look
