TEAM SPOTLIGHT
The Big Man's fierce yellow grin still occupied two thirds of his face as he
stepped out the tavern's door. He sucked in a breath of fresh air and suddenly
froze, the grin sliding from his face like wax from a candle's flame. His breathing
steadied as his fists clenched, and unclenched. From across the trail a filthy
beggar stood admiring the Olds 98. He turned and offering a gap toothed smile, "She
sure is a beau--". In the blink of an eye, and three sauntering strides the Big Man
closed the gap. The soiled tunic provided no sanctuary for the beggar's frail body
as the Big Man's arms windmilled with strobe light speed. Only when exhausted and
satisfied no bone, or cartilage was intact did the Big Man hoist the carcass high
over head. His good eye bulged menacingly from his blood flecked face as his mouth
formed a perfect "o" and emitted a ear piercing, wraith-like shriek of utter joy.
Cats screeched, dogs howled, and bystanders clasped their ears in agony.
Clasping the beggar by the wrist the Big Man spun, pivoting on his bum leg
building incredible velocity and sending the would be vandal over the stables and to
the netherworld.
The Big Man cursed violently as he searched his pockets for his keys, his fire
red afro-mane bounced as he spat a final profanity. A calm swept over him as his big
greasy mitts found pay dirt. Reaching for the door the Big Man suddenly stopped as
his cauliflower ear pricked to a small voice riding the wind. The Big Man spun
around his good eye switching to target acquisition mode.
Coming down the street was a group of vibrant young tots, "Hey, it's him!" they
exclaimed, squealing with excitement.
The Big Man saw several carried the Big Jer action figure doll. "Damn the High
Council and their endorsements." he hissed. The Big Man knew even an action figure
could be wielded as a weapon.
The children were closing fast, with beaming smiles and action figures held
high. There was only one way to answer this aggressive posture. Like a ball
departing a cannon the Big Man shot out to meet them half way....
SPY REPORT
Much has changed in NIATOLI ISLAND since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf
Modeen adapts to many situations, as do all successful fighters. Hmmmph! I always
thought RAVAGING LORDS was an over-rated team and they proved it with a 2-3-0! Up 'n
down. Up 'n down. Rankings always change. Up 'n down. I think I'm gonna be...
Well, XXX BANDITS' 6th moved them up to 2-3-0 place. Some people say I ramble too
much, I don't say anything relevant. I repeat myself. I ramble. Well BAD COMPANY
moved up 4, to 4th. What's with TEDDY NASH? He actually beat DEATH PENALTY's
ONSLAUGHT, and walked away with 21 more points from the fight. Major screwup at
DEATH PENALTY. ONSLAUGHT lost 11 points to TEDDY NASH. Some new strategies,
perhaps? Maybe ONSLAUGHT will provide more easy wins... NIATOLI ISLAND has a
Duelmaster who doesn't sit back and get lazy. He Bloodfeuded XXX BANDITS' BRAIN
BUSTER (1-1-1), which should prove (ahem!) interesting. Try as he might, BRAIN
BUSTER wasn't good enough at persuading GRIMGOWER to step down from the Duelmaster's
throne... I suppose you want to hear some rumors and dirty gossip about your fellow
fighters? Tough!
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. The most avoided team was
BIG LAKE BANDITS. In my day, no team with a 467-467-45 would scare me off! What's
the problem, BAD COMPANY? How well I know the feeling of being the most challenged
warrior, SNORK SLAYMORE! Don't make idle boasts, they may come back to haunt you.
Keep challenging up 32 points, TIM CAMPEAU, and I won't have to write about you much
longer. PEA POD always accepts those kind of challenges... TIM CAMPEAU did pretty
good last week in beating PEA POD to get 27 points. Why did PEA POD lose, you ask?
Simple: he wasn't good enough. KILL ZONE of DEATH PENALTY knows how to pick 'em.
He challenged THIMBELL of THE SEWING CIRCLE who is up by 25. Now was this a wise
move? KILL ZONE perhaps got his just desserts, seeing as he was defeated by THIMBELL
and ended up with 69 recognition points. I hate going to the effort of writing about
the kind of fights that VEXER gets in. He fights people like BEDAZZLER, 11 points
below. I thought VEXER showed great skill and promise when he was overcame by
BEDAZZLER. All right, so I slept through it! Big deal!
Warriors of NIATOLI ISLAND unite. You have only your games to lose! CAREER
CRIMINAL was plum wore out after THE NEANDERTHAL pounded 'im silly in a Bloodfeud.
JAILBIRDS'll have to get a little better before going after THE NEANDERTHAL again!
BRAIN BUSTER larned his lesson (GRIMGOWER taught it well), and we right likely won't
be seein' 'im fight any BIG LAKE BANDITS members with the same gusto. Is it my
imagination, or are fighters getting younger every day? To die so young, so
gloriously!
Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt.
Are you as tired of reading this as I am of writing it? Actually, I guess I'm
writing it before you read it. Oh, well. Time for my medication, so I'll leave now.
Practice, practice, practice!-- Olaf Modeen

Phil -- 9, 9, 8, 17, 17, 10, 15 exp parry, exp attack, adv init. You hit me three
times and my guy stands there motionless and pitches face forward and croaks. I'm
ready to quit this RSI stuff permanently. -- General Ikillu, the manager whose
warriors cannot even get a swing off at another warrior
General Ikillu -- Since that was my challenge vs. Vexer I will let it slide, this
time. -- Bill, Chief Justice AA
All -- There is a putrid stench that fills the air in this arena. That is the stench
of fear, and of cowardice. I boldly called you all out to test my resolve, yet half
of you have fled and the other half are packing as we speak. It sickens me greatly
to know this arena was once held in high regard by all who played the game.
Victories were earned by wisdom and bravado, while defeat was lamented over for many
turns. The likes of you were not tolerated, nor shall they be now. The sick,
worthless, and poor were dispatched of quickly and efficiently without reprieve. The
weak, inept managers, such as yourselves, were culled from the ranks. Leaving only
the strong. It was in such a time that the might of the Allied Axis rose to the top,
as cream often does. Many tried to stand against us, only to never be able to stand
again. So it is now that once again, I implore you to come for me, for you can know
with complete certainty, the AA will come for you. -- Bill
Allied Axis -- It has become quickly, yet blatantly obvious this arena has became as
stale as Philthy's sock drawer. That is, if he had a sock drawer. It was also
brought to my attention by the High Council, that many loose ends were left untied
last we shared the sands here. Grudges were held, words were spoken and egos
bruised. While this behavior has always been encouraged within the AA, the High
Council has deemed it time to settle old scores, and heal old wounds. Once again
this burden has been laid squarely on the shoulders of the Chief Justice. It was
whilst pondering this task that it occurred to me, a simple solution. Controlled
war.
Beginning on turn 535 lines will be drawn in the alliance sands. Scores will be
settled, and new scores will come due. I have decided with approval from the HC, an
inter-alliance contest will be held. Let me explain how it shall work.
The alliance will be split into two factions, for the purpose of this contest,
and future consideration into the AA, not to mention evening out the teams we shall
include the XXX Bandits. With BLB, BC, Ravaging Lords, Nye Maulers, and the
Jailbirds, me counts six teams. The team with the BEST record this turn will be
captain of team 1. The team with the WORST record this turn will be captain of team
2. Captain of team 1 will pick his teammate, then Captain of team 2, and so on until
we have two team of 3.
But what is the point? Well allow me the opportunity. Not only will bonds be
renewed stronger than before, and scores settled on the sands, there is an added
bonus. There will be a point system. One pt for each victory over an opposing
alliance mate, and 2 1/2 pts for a kill. Down challenges and everything else are
considered fair play. However, if you make the spy report for avoiding a team from
the other faction, your team is deducted 1 pt. Dark arenas will cost 1/2 pts as
well. We wouldn't want anyone getting to comfortable hiding there, would we Crambus?
But so what's the point? As if the incredible reward of rubbing this contest
victory in the face of the losers for decades to come isn't enough, the losers will
also be required to pony up for an AA pizza party. They will not be allowed the
luxury of a single slice till the victors have gorged till they cringe at the very
mention of pizza.
Lastly, each victorious manager will have the reward of selecting a single
warrior from the loser pool and sending him to the Dark Arena (you had to know it was
coming). Only one warrior from each stable can be chosen, so relax. I am sure your
AA brethren will take into consideration any emotional ties you may have to a
specific warrior. In fact, you can bank on it.
Now I ask you all, what better way to bring us back together as one big happy
family? Any suggestions will be duly noted and ignored. Team Captains may contact
me with their picks via email or phone. You have two more turns to ready your
rosters, may fate smile upon the team I am on. -- Your humble Chief Justice
AA "brothers" -- A few points I forgot. I am proposing a 9 turn contest. I don't
like even numbers. Also, a rule on the blood feuds; you will only receive a point
for a successful blood feud once per warrior. So your champion can not get four
straight pts for pounding someone's initiate. However, you can use four different
warriors. In the unlikely event of a tie, the winner will be decided by a Kannari
hatchet match on top of the big hill. Two men, one hatchet, wrists tethered. Or if
anyone has any other suggestions. -- Bill
Acid Bath -- How tedious that fight was, and I was equally to blame, I suppose. I
just could NOT think of anything to say. -- Thimbell
P.S. In your case, I suppose the bathtub is the more dangerous thing, eh? Not any
potential foes found therein, who would doubtless be well etched.
The Murderer -- Are we not all, sooner or later? After all, the arena system is a
ravening parasite on the body of Alastari. -- Korienellen, feeling somber today,
probably because it's been cloudy
The Ambitious Guard. One expects so little of him, and yet sometimes...WHAMMO. As
the saying goes, was my face red! -- Rintirisse
14 September 2006
I am back in the arena and thinking back to those days in 1984 where I was a
novice and clueless manager.
Now, 22 years later it looks like I am an ancient and once again clueless
manager.
I am looking to recover some old warriors. Since none of them are Aimed Blows,
they are no threat to win anything. I just want to see how they turned out.
The Couatl 2-17
Madam Butterfly 20-701
Gypsy Moth 20-703
King Crab 21-1
Priestess Python 26-1388
Please contact me at DekeYoung@Comcast.net if you know about any of these ancient
warriors, or just want to bs about the old, old, old times.

It is obvious that the Dark Knights wish to be shown the light. Allow me to step
forward and blind them with truth. YOU ARE WORTHLESS!!! The Dark Knights are so
afraid of the light that they hide behind their black armor and empty threats. It is
too bad they are unwilling to actually FIGHT us! I guess our natural light is too
bright for you all to face! Fear us, for we are here! -- Gemini Goldphoenix,
Overlord of the Avengers of Light!
