Huggy Bear here. (sigh) Only one kill last cycle. How depressing! And it was
one of A-sop's that died too! WAY TO FREAKIN GO, BOOKIE!!! You know it'll be
another six months before she replaces that thing! What have I told you about aiming
LEG on those challenges? Geesh. Freakin' mad man! PIXIE DUST got the kill and has
produced a three way tie for first. I still can't believe we only had one kill. I
could have sworn I smelt the stinch of death (or maybe that was the odor comin' off a

Hammer kept his grip tight upon the chain link leash of the Elven War Hound that
strained to pursue the faint scent deep within the catacombs beneath the Jhans arena.
Talon Dark Hart had promised that Jhans would be a truly unique experience where
Hammer could find more than his gold's worth of thrills, chills, spills and high
adventure.
Upon arriving, Hammer instinctively knew that something sinister and foul was
afoot, especially with the blood letting from the kLk sponsored contest and the
mysterious whisperings of uncanny occurrences during the late night hours in the
local infirmary.
All the tell tale signs were in evidence to the finely tuned senses of one such
as Hammer, who had encountered a similar occurrence in Vithicar several years
earlier.
Some say it had led to the closing of the ice arena.
But that was then.
This is now.
Similar.
But not the same.
Hammer had known of such a one long years ago in Vithicar.
That was then.
This is now.
The former was an outcast manager who Hammer had befriended and stood with when
other managers demanded he be impaled.
This one.
Ah.
This one.
Hammer had a plan for such as this one.
SPY REPORT
Greetings warriors! It is I, Zontani Sharp Eyes, here to bring report of the
clash and bustle of the weekly JHANS games. Former top team BLITZKRIEG was unseated
this week as REVELATION moved up from 3rd ranking to take the top spot with a 5-0-0
record for the round. There were bitter words at PORN IN A BARN's guildhouse after a
1-0-0 showing this week which dropped the stable into 15th. Dark Arena anyone?
Warriors--remember that glory waits always around the corner! Witness how this week
ANARKYSTS went 3-1-0 to move up 6 in the rankings. Did only my eyes note the 4-1-0
record which MEMPHIS MAFIA II managed to post this round? I don't doubt that such a
record will draw challengers! The city turned out in welcome to meet the banners of
a new guild, PORTAL, as they entered the city this week. May victory find you!
JIGSAW KILLER caught the eye of many in the gladiatorial commission as he skillfully
bested HELIX PRIME and was awarded 24 points in recognition. In one of the week's
more notable duels, JIGSAW KILLER put down HELIX PRIME, causing him to lose 21 points
of recognition in the process. Who here was not present for the title fight this
week as BENANDANTI boldly challenged UNION JACK in order to strive for the
Duelmasters honors? Not for nothing has UNION JACK in the past laid claim to the
Duelmaster's throne, and this week he's proven his combat skill yet again. Would you
believe that over half of the old women in JHANS seem to feel that they could fight
better than you gladiators?
But come now, let us look deeper into the maze of contention and crossed blades
that is city JHANS. I saw one fighter that warriors avoided when this week's
challenge seeking began. HELTER SKELTER is feared. This much I can say. Apparently
the stalwarts of THE DREAMING are catching the bulk of jests down at the challenging
board for their large share of the avoids. Loose talk at the arena has reached my
ears and it but confirms the knowledge that many fighters are after BANANA GORILLA.
Watch your back! SANDPAPER CONDOM must really be harboring a grudge against the
HELTER SKELTER guild! Merciless, 26 challenged down MONKEY SHINE points this week to
duel with he. The weight of the challenge fell hard upon MONKEY SHINE and
predictably it was bested by SANDPAPER CONDOM. This is how to arouse the anger of an
entire guild! As a gladiator gets older, the icy grip of fear lays hold of hers
heart. True, SHADOW STARR? Who could miss your "brave" challenge of AYLA SECURA?
Few would not have guessed the outcome of the bout as AYLA SECURA was bested by
SHADOW STARR. Is this what passes for courage in JHANS? For some warriors honor is
not important--only empty victory. See, gladiators, how I.B. KLONIN of HELTER
SKELTER challenged down 18 points to T'HAEL. All the city knows the duel went in
favor of I.B. KLONIN. I shall not fail to spread the word in other cities of this
"mighty" victory. PIXIE DUST must really be harboring a grudge against the ERRATA
guild! Merciless, 18 challenged down CLOVER points this week to duel with she. The
weight of the challenge fell hard upon CLOVER and predictably he was subdued by PIXIE
DUST. This is how to arouse the anger of an entire guild! As a gladiator gets
older, the icy grip of fear lays hold of its heart. True, SASQUATCH COWBOY? Who
could miss your "brave" challenge of PIMP BEEFAROONY? Few would not have guessed the
outcome of the bout as PIMP BEEFAROONY was beat by SASQUATCH COWBOY. Is this what
passes for courage in JHANS? SERPENT OF OLD must really be harboring a grudge
against the WARRIOR'S guild! Merciless, 16 challenged down MEDICINE MAN points this
week to duel with it. The weight of the challenge fell hard upon MEDICINE MAN and
predictably he was defeated by SERPENT OF OLD. This is how to arouse the anger of an
entire guild!
Vendettas. Bloodied blades and broken spears. Indeed the city has seen more
than its fair share of red in recent times. This week marked the last days of
SHAWNDA who at 12-13-1 was dispatched to the Dark Arena by the command of THE
DREAMING's demanding management. Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears
arms. One thing is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
If it were not for my skills as a spy I would have been mugged three times
already in JHANS. Nice atmosphere you have here! More than a sharp eye must I keep,
indeed a stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await

The Contract

What had begun as a contract for swords and armor between a well known name in
the DM community and the former VC Captain/WordSmith and WeaponSmith of the Vendetta
Cartel Tarantula Tribe was destined to impact and altar the landscape of the dueling
community for years to come.
The following is but a condensed retelling of history in the making.

figure quietly seated himself across the table from the Veteran Manager whose back
was against the wall; allowing for a subtle, but effective surveillance of the dimly
lit tavern.
Recent events in both Illis and North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena had stunned the DM
managerial world with the announcement that Hammer had resigned from his position as
a well respected member of the Vendetta Cartel Alliance.
Those managers and associates closest to Hammer were shocked and dismayed that
there seemed to be NO Rational Explanation for Hammer making such a seemingly
irrational, hasty and extremely illogical decision; by what seemed to be a spur of
the moment reaction following the Declaration of War by Hammer in the DM 47 P-ads.
This is what stirred the mysterious hooded figure to seek Hammer with a request
that would change the managerial course of both men; ultimately Rocking the
Managerial World of Alastari as a result of the forthcoming decisions reached by the
two Veterans.
Time passed swiftly as both Veteran Managers discussed how the landscape of the
DM game on the sands of Alastari had changed over the years both in Basic and Tourney
play; producing a new breed of managers who would of necessity band together in an
alliance with a common goal; waging war against antagonists while improving the
managerial skills of each participating member in their glorious quest for DM
excellence.
Hammer listened intently as his unexpected guest inquired about the situation in
North Fork/SCOMSS Swamp Arena; revealing his desire to participate in the upcoming
Turf War 4 contest in DM 47 with an alliance that would accept him on a more
permanent basis other than for just fighting together as a TW4 alliance to win fame
and Gift Certs.
Here was a Veteran Manager, seeking the advice of Hammer regarding an alliance
to join on a permanent basis; plus extending a sword arm of friendship and requesting
that Hammer join him as an alliance mate with those who would welcome their
membership.
The Iron in the Words of Hammer had produced this opportunity as a result of the
recent conflicts witnessed first hand by the manager seated across the table from
Hammer. This Veteran Manager had been secretly searching and scouting around
Alastari for someone worth his mettle to fight alongside; someone who would know
where to find the perfect gang of rebels who were unafraid of waging war against
anyone.
Hammer knew exactly where to look and in a matter of days the two newcomers were
welcomed into the ranks of a group of managers who received them as war waging equals
in an alliance that had joined a Confederation of Alliances for the TW4 contest.
Fighting under the banner of The Illuminati Confederation of Alliances alongside
members of Chaos Inc, kLk and The Company of Brothers during the TW4 was more than
either of the two Veteran Managers had envisioned a few months ago.
Hammer was now entering a new journey with a new attitude.
Perhaps you readers may have noticed that new attitude by now since this
announcement by Hammer is uncharacteristically Exclamation Point Free.
Except for the famous quote by Hammer at the end of this announcement.
