                             Notes from the arena champ.

Yeah, I know, it's the same old story. A ripper returns to the arena after twenty
years, goes to the DA and becomes Duelmaster and then loses when his weapon breaks
and has no back-up, enabling another ripper from twenty years ago take the throne.

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings, warriors of JHANS! Once again I've been called out of retirement for
my abilities and insights into Spyreporting. Some people say I ramble too much, I
don't say anything relevant. I repeat myself. I ramble. Well MIDDLE WAY 17 moved
up 0, to 2nd. What's with KELLY BUNDY? She actually beat MIDDLE WAY 17's ELLIRIN
IMBRAY, and walked away with 15 more points from the fight. Major screwup at HOUSE
OF RATS. BAM BAM THE IMP lost 8 points to EVA MENDES. Some new strategies, perhaps?
Maybe BAM BAM THE IMP will provide more easy wins... JHANS, set your sights on ENEMY
SABOTEUR. She'll be happy to entertain all requests after defeating THE AZURE NYMPH.
EVA MENDES looked pretty Duelmasterlike as she took JHANS' top spot with 77 points.
Now, what will THE AZURE NYMPH do? I suppose you want to hear some rumors and dirty
gossip about your fellow fighters? Tough!
No matter the time or place, men will always duel. JHANS thinks GIRLS X3 and
their 20-11-1 is too much! If at first you don't succeed, give up... In my day, no
team with a 17-10-1 would scare me off! What's the problem, HOUSE OF RATS?
Warriors of JHANS unite. You have only your games to lose! How long have I
been here? I got people to see, places to go...
Well, I'm pretty much through. You guys need to get back practicing. JHANS is
a nice place to live, but I don't like to live in nice places. Time for my
medication, so I'll leave now. Practice, practice, practice!-- Olaf Modeen

To those we fought -- Good fights, more or less. Well, reasonably. From one point
of view. -- We who fought you

Ah, damn! Jorja got on our case about that personal, so now we have to be, ah, call
it "personally personal" in our ads. Damn. -- the Middle Way

Captured Orc? Oooo-kay. But what am I supposed to do with him? True, I could offer
him some of my wine, and I'm sure he'd take it, but I don't think he'd APPRECIATE it,
you know. He doesn't look like much of a wine-o-phile. I mean, would he go for the
dry sherry, when he could have cheap red instead? It's a quandry. -- Abalond Egran

Eva Mendes -- Um. Good fight? Not that *I* thought so, but it seems to be "the
thing to say." Actually, I've got this great idea for a quilt, and I'd rather be
picking out the fabric for it. -- Ellirin Imbray

Nicole Kidman -- I wonder if I'd do better using one of the swords from my collection
of "old and artistic" blades? Do you suppose Arenamistress Dorrigan would notice if
I chose a magically parrying sword? -- Eddie Incher, trimmed down by several inches

Gracie Nicole -- Yes, well, I could TELL that your next blow was going to be to my
hand, and as a calligrapher, I couldn't risk it. Huh, I bet I need to take lessons
from the Embezzling Scribe, which might allow me to fake something on my strategy
sheet and maybe... hmm, win a fight? What a concept. -- Gorm Hollis

I don't know what Gorm's all wound up about. *I* met the Embezzling Scribe, and he
isn't worth knowing. A sniveling, greasy, little worm. -- Deety Hinch

We salute those who participated in the tourney. -- Jorja and the Middle Way

The Azure Nymph -- A classic you may well be, but that color does not work for you.
That blue with fluorescent orange? I don't think so! It's true that there was a fad
for such coloring some time ago, and some gods-awful quilts came out of it, but we've
moved beyond that, I hope! You really need something greener to bring out the best
of your coloring. -- Ellirin Imbray

Eva Mendes -- When you offered to join me for a beer, I could hardly believe my ears.
Beer! Much too plebian for one of your exquisite sensibilities. -- Abalond Egran
P.S. I know some excellent restaurants with the finest wines produced in the
Delarquan Federation, and I will be delighted to introduce you to them.
P.P.S. Do not, by the way, deny the possession of delicate sensibilities. I am not
blind, and I can SEE them in you.

Nicole Kidman -- I don't know what it is, exactly, but I find being defeated in
combat by a woman deeply disturbing. -- Eddie Incher

Dianne -- This arena is just totally overrun with women! Something is wrong with the
men of Jhans. Perhaps you would care to help me get to the bottom of this? -- Gorm
Hollis

Venus -- You find some reason for pride in claiming that patroness? She doesn't have
many redeeming qualities, you know. -- Deety Hinch
P.S. *I* have redeeming qualities. I am, for example, highly trustworthy. Even the
Commission noticed.

And you consider the Commissioners reliable judges? Amazing.

It's true. I'm gone. I've punched my ticket to Immortality and I'm off to the Isle.
I know a lot of you are wondering what it is about me that has made me so successful.
I wish I knew for sure. I think it has more to do with intangibles (knack) than it
does with design, bonuses and favorites. I'll let you decide.

Daydream Believer (PR) 17-14-4-17-7-8-17 Poor Endurance--Good Damage
I -- 8 (+1) R -- 13 A -- 14 (+4) P -- 14 (+4) Df - 8 Dc - 6 (+3)

I know what you're thinking, "WTF, that guy looks like a 98 lb weakling!" Sigh...I
prefer to think my physical characteristics are ideally suited for a finesse style.
As for my bases, I know they aren't much to look at. After all, I am a PR. I'm
fortunate to be blessed where I need it the most--attack and parry.

Okay, so I've got nice bases with bonuses in the right spots. What about favorites?
Did I know them in advance or did I change them? The answer is no, I had no idea
what they were for sure until I recieved my graduation announcement. I would be
happy to tell you what my favorites are but I don't think my clone, Jumpinjack Flash,
would be very happy with me if I did. Let's just say that from the moment I stepped
on the sands as a Rookie I used the same strategy in EVERY fight. The only thing I
ever changed was armor (early on vs. TP's) and attack/defend locations. That should
give those of you who have faced me more than once something to think about.

You may be interested to know that I am all natural. I haven't had a prize of any
type used on me. I'm a freak of nature. It just goes to show you never know when a
guy like me will walk into your guildhouse looking for work as a gladiator. It's up
to you to spot the potential and nuture it along.

I'm going to list my tourney results and records versus each style. It isn't meant
to be a brag--I just thought you might find it interesting and a lot easier than
looking it up yourself. Enjoy!
Tourneys: Rookies: 15-1-3 TC. Initiates: 15-3-3 TV. Adepts: 16-2 TC.

Challengers: 12-3 TV. Challengers record: 104-25-4 (.806). Career Tourney record:

LU: 46-9-4 PL: 5-1-1 PR: 2-0 PS: --- SL: 9-2 ST: 51-5-2 TP: 35-4-3 WS: 2-0

As you can see, the only style I had trouble with is the ABs. I think that has more
to do with which ABs I fought rather than the style as a whole. I was 3-1 vs ABs
early on (Rookies-Champs) and 4-10 in Challengers. I was 1-5 vs Marv, 0-1 vs Marv Jr
and 0-3 vs Soulsnare. I am going to make an educated guess and assume they all had
skills or prizes added to them to make them competetive at the Challenger level where
so few ABs are. I could be wrong, though I doubt it.

See you on the Isle,
    Daydream Believer
