DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
"The personal ads contain no information." Well, I suppose that's no surprise. It
is kinda sad...thinkin' about the old days. When I was a young puss...too small to
hold up a blade...I was an excited fan of the games. The stands used to be filled
with fans...and the personal ads were full of friendly (and not so friendly) jibes
and insults. Nowadays...it's all about the tournaments. I imagine that is just the
natural way of things.
Of course my manager Alfredo is just as guilty of not writing personals as everybody
else. It almost seems as if Jorja is personally responsible for keeping personal ads
alive. There are a handful of others that write ads as well, but the total number is
small. I, for one, am very thankful for Jorja being around...both in the personals
and in the arena. Jorja, if you're reading this...know that your personals always
get read even if there is no response. Even your most mundane of ramblings do not
fall upon deaf ears.
I figured I'd write a column this turn because it's sort of my "farewell." After the
fight this turn, I will have 30FE and join Alfredo's "stockpile" of champions. I am
#4 out of a goal of 10 total. So...the throne is up for grabs!
About me...my initial rollup looked rather ho-hum on paper: 9,10,8,17,15,14,11 SL,
normal damage, normal endurance, expert initiative. However...upon further
investigation I was found out to be +4 init, +4 att, +4 dec. I learned very well
also...so I turned out to be quite the surprise. I went 7-3 both initiates and
adepts; hopefully I'll be able to improve on that when I'm unleashed in the
champions...whenever that may be.

SPY REPORT
If you were disturbed from your beauty rest only to have to watch a bunch of
JHANS brutes like you, you'd be grouchy, too. Of course, we're all terribly
impressed to see THIS CAMEL win a fight and gain 21 points, terribly. Tsk, tsk, THIS
CAMEL beat SERGEANT 1 and SERGEANT 1 lost 18 points. You're breakin' my heart. And
if variety is the spice of life, JHANS may be getting bland, as WHISKERS stays top
dog in the city. I'm not in a very good mood today, but why am I telling you this?
You want to know what's new, don't you, JHANS?
My mother always told me, 'If you don't have anything nice to say, start
talking.' I loved that woman. REBUILD was challenged more times this turn than the
Duelmaster. Now was the DM insulted or feared? Heh, heh.
Ah, now we come to my favorite part, where we see all the guys who are dead and
gone, and get to see if their team cared. STILLMATIC has cause to pause today, as
DESTROY was sent to the Dark Arena, and came back--though not in the best of moods,
I'll wager. Let's see, 14-8-0. Pretty good record for a living warrior. A sad one
though, for a dead one. Such is the case for ENVY HIDIN' SNAKE of STILLMATIC. Tsk.
Seriously now, is it really honorable for WHISKERS from PORN IN A BARN to kill ENVY
HIDIN' SNAKE and give STILLMATIC the chance to bloodfeud? Mmmm, could be. We're all
going to die in the end, so why worry if the fate catches up with you sooner that
later?
What does the JHANS arena have in common with the inns? It's just as
comfortable to sleep in either place. Ha ha ha ha! Phlllt! Just had to do that
before I leave the fine city of JHANS. I feel much better now. I see the crowds are
