                             Notes from the arena champ.

Hail, Cliffhome! Who would have thought I would be All Finesse's first DM? Very
few, to be sure. I, for one, never expected the honor to fall to me. Nothing is
certain, and the lines of fate are drawn in the sand. Work In Progress, given your
experience I fully expected you to hold the throne for your stable. I am certain we
will meet again before all is said and done. I am undefeated in my last nine fights,
so my goal now is to simply continue my streak for as long as possible. My challenge
goes to Har di'Har, my avoids go to Dark Toads. I'll take my chances with the
experienced, rather than the tourney warrior. Until Chaos rules and the Isle sinks,
farewell!

Fiddlesticks

Welcome back, Team Floyd & Dark Toads, though your arrival for tourney prep cost us
three free turns. We can use all the stables that can be activated or recruited.

                                      SPY REPORT

Hail and well met warriors of CLIFFHOME! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp
Eyes, Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. GAR & BRILL caught the eye of many
in the gladiatorial commission as it skillfully bested VENOMOUS CONCUBINE and was
awarded 13 points in recognition. In one of the week's more notable duels, CHERT put
down HEBEE, causing him to lose 10 points of recognition in the process. Unwilling
to wait upon the will of others, Duelmaster FIDDLESTICKS challenged HAR DI'HAR last
week in a match to decide the fate of the throne. The city has turned out in honor
of HAR DI'HAR, for with his arena victory he may now lay claim to the highest
position in the city! Heed this! A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels
this week, the whole city shall perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. CLIFFHOME, city of gladiators!
Mighty among the names of thy guilds is JUST BECAUSE, a guild shunned and avoided by
many in the weekly duels. Methinks more than a few here could name the guild it was
that spent the better part of last week avoiding JUST BECAUSE. Indeed it was ALL
FINESSE. Mighty fighters cannot but expect competition from those below. HAR DI'HAR
take warning! You have more than a few enemies in CLIFFHOME.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing
is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
A thought before I go. Each warrior practices one style, but must not the wise
manager learn the secrets of them all? Sadly warriors, now longer can I keep thy
company nor savor the ale of thy fine city. Depart I must and soon! Till next we
meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a different
story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

Hari Cane -- Are you suggesting that a quarterstaff thrust "forward in a tremendous
bone-crushing attack" can't be described as having been done with some degree of
finesse? :) Originally our stable was to have been composed of warriors using the
finesse, or "off-styles" on the sands--unfortunately, Mischievous Imp's death and
Mannequin's lack of patience/and age old bad luck here in Cliffhome caused him to
consider the recruitment of warriors of all styles. At the least, it gave you the
opportunity to meet a stud like me. -- Hebee (He B#%&!)

Korribie -- Would you like to play some more? -- Nutcracker

Zin -- Really? Chalk it up to liking to see our name in writing. :) -- Mannequin,
mgr. All Finesse

Hebee -- Jebees! You got me in a head-on. -- Lonesome Truck

Nutcracker -- Any chance of doing a job on a bushel of walnuts I've got? -- Korribie
P.S. I'll make nut brittle and share it with you.

Men Working -- To which I say... Har di'Har
P.S. You can EAT that feather.

Either the Ambitious Guard is a rotten fighter, or he's a real gentleman. Anyway, he
was easy. -- Hari Cane

Chert -- Drat. I hate those quartz-type rocks. Too tough. -- Clock O'Dial

Zazu -- (puzzled look) Sure, I'll drive. But what's this about membership? --
Lonesome Truck

Hebee -- It's a dirty job, but somebody had to do it! -- Hari Cane
P.S. I always wanted a chance to say that.

Zazu -- Given the size of this arena, most likely. -- Korribie
P.S. But I'm not a slave, so you can't own me.

ANNOUNCING THE RETURN OF STORMCROWE SLAUGHTERHOUSE
The last Stormcrowe Slaughterhouse was one of the closest and most exciting
contests ever held in Alastari. Such an epic demands a sequel. Therefore, Master
Darque and Jack Wolfspider are pleased to announce the return of the Stormcrowe
Slaughterhouse.
Where? Stormcrowe DM 45 (slow). When? The Slaughterhouse returns on Turn 207,
due August 19. How can you get into the action? Bring a team (one per entrant
please) to arena 45 and announce your intention to join the contest in the Personals.
Rules: This time around the rules are very simple. Each warrior win against a
higher rated opponent (one or more points higher in the ratings) brings you 10
points, against even rated opponent 7 points, lower rated 5 points. Wins against
NPCs or by a warrior who downchallenges are worth 0 points. Points are doubled for
kills. All warriors in the arena whether participating in the Slaughterhouse or not
are fair game. Points are totaled weekly, and the contestant whose team has racked
up the most points at the end of 10 turns is declared Slaughterhouse Champion.
Prizes: To be announced; we're still talking with RSI about it. Figure it will
be something pretty good. But hey, who needs prizes when the honor of being
Slaughterhouse Champion awaits!
More info: Master Darque, MasterDarqueDM@aol.com, or Jack Wolfspider,
russtulp@aol.com. Or diplo Darque Forces (428) or Dynastic (433) in Arena 45.
