Dingil Bill blinked. "That's impossible, Runabout," he said. "Horseless
carriages don't have fathers."
Runabout blinked back. "That's right, we don't!" She smiled, a little shakily.
"I'd...forgotten, for a moment. I thought maybe I actually WAS...you know. What HE
says I am. But I'm not. Of course not." She relaxed against the bar. "Thanks,
Bill. You're a real cadillac."
"Don't thank me yet. Even if that dude on the cliff road is mistaken, he could
still do you a lot of harm. If you'd been the one to go through the guardrail--"
Bill paused. "Will that have stopped him? Slowed him down, even? The glimpse I got
looked, uh...."
"Dangerous," Runabout finished. "No, it won't have stopped him, but it MIGHT
have slowed him down." She stared at her bottle of antifreeze for a moment.
"Probably not much," she said, and sighed.
"Well, don't get all depressed about it. You've got friends, and we'll think of
something to do about this. We need to make some plans," Bill said. He took her
elbow. "Let's go, uh, park in that corner."
She allowed him to tow her to the side of the parking garage, but shook her head
at the idea they could do anything about the situation. "You don't know what he's
like, Bill," she said. "Nothing stops him. I'll just have to go back to the Isle.
He can't follow me there. At least, he hasn't so far." She slid into the parking
slot Bill indicated and took some more antifreeze. "I hate it on the Isle, though.
Multistory parking garages, jammed. And the streets are worse, everyone drives like
a maniac, everyone probably IS a maniac after being there for a month or two, and the
pavement's terrible."
"Don't give up so fast, Runabout," Bill said. "Tell me something about this
person who thinks he's your father. Besides that he's dangerous and...deluded."
"He IS dangerous, Bill, you don't realize! He's an all-time winner in
demolition derbies! He--" She shuddered.
"Ah, the Wyrm Kin?" M. Carlston Chardinee asked, as he pulled into the outer
parking slot at their table. "You play a dangerous game, girl. Throwing him off the
cliff will not damage him, but it makes him very angry."

Notes from the arena champ.
OK guys, you got me. Everybody sits out so that Ballou and I can fight it out for
the throne. Guess I lucked out and its my turn, sorry B Y. Not sure who I'll be
fighting this next turn if everyone sits out again. If I'm up here next turn, the
first round's on me.

SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. Hey everybody, watch out for FUZZY BUNNY SLIPPERS, who flew up 21
points in the rankings after mashing POULAN like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy.
Ya know, some days it doesn't pay to walk out on the sands. POULAN lost to FUZZY
BUNNY SLIPPERS and drops 15 points. In front of all the crowds, ROBERT GERMAN took
the Duelmaster's crown for his own. I give the bum two weeks. An apple a day keeps
the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at bay.
Here is other news that is of note. In a touching display by a 'touched'
warrior, AVERAGE JOE went after BALLOU YS, who was higher by 19 points. Well, when
the dust settled, AVERAGE JOE was overcame by BALLOU YS.
Death is kind of like a new puppy: he's always around wanting to play. (Ha
Zontani, how's that for a wise saying?). Ask not the elves for counsel, for they
will say both yes and no. Silly buggers, eh?
Well, there's the manager of the CLIFFHOME giving me the 'cut' sign (or is that
'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). Well, there goes another Spy Report.

Civil War/The Crusades
The next edition of the Civil War series is to be held in Tobir, arena 14, beginning
November 25th with a round where all participating managers must DA all 5 of their
warriors; in addition all warriors must be prefixed with an A an F or a D in the
following manner: A-Broke Stroker or (A) Broke Stroker. Names simply beginning with
the letter of your federation will NOT count as properly prefixed! Existing teams
are welcome but no warrior who survives the DA who had prior Fight Experience (arena
or tourney) will be allowed to score or challenge into the contest teams. There will
be an equal number of teams set up for each of the three factions (Andorian, Free
Blades, and Delarquan) to create sides as equal as possible. This along with the DA
round should set up pretty equal footing for all managers. After the DA there will
be another round where you can either DA again or fight your new, or surviving,
warriors so they will be set up to challenge an opponent beginning on round 1. So as
a recap DA round, turn 0, then turn 1 it begins with the following rules:
The Civil War to be held in arena 14.
- The contest runs for 10-28 turns (barring ties).
- No tourney participation allowed. Teams with warriors participating in any
tournament are disqualified.
- An even number of teams per faction worked out by the Faction Leaders. No later
substitutions are allowed.
- If a manager brings in a second team and challenges into the contest he is DQ'd and
his side will fight one team short!
- Three factions will be participating: Andorian, Delarquan, Free Blades
- Everyone prefixes their warrior with A-, F-, or D- (No prefix = disqualification of
the warrior)
- Turn DA: (The DA Round) November 25, 2006. Every warrior must DA. (Warriors not
DA'd on Turn 0 are disqualified)
- Turn 0: December 9th, 2006. There will be no scoring this turn it is meant to
allow for challenges on turn 1.
- Turn 1+: Scoring as detailed below
- Each team gets 1 point for defeating a warrior from an opposing team.
- Fights against warriors on your team do not generate points in any situation.
- The team with the most points each turn gets a Battle Point (if there is a tie for
the most points then no Battle Points are accrued)
- The first team to 10 Battle Points wins the war
- Managers of teams on the winning side each receive a +1 bonus potion to be used on
a warrior on their contest team. This must be applied within a month of the
conclusion of the contest and the team must have been active on the last turn of
the contest.
Anyone wishing to participate, and feels they can probably stick around for the
duration (don't want to handicap a side, of course unforeseeable events cannot be
planned for), should either diplo me at THE DEATH SQUAD(63) in Tobir (arena 14) or
place a personal ad in the arena. You may also contact me via the Duel2.com boards!

be open to ALL managers wishing to pit themselves against each other to try and

I am back in the arena and thinking back to those days in 1984 where I was a
novice and clueless manager.
Now, 22 years later it looks like I am an ancient and once again clueless
manager.
I am looking to recover some old warriors. Since none of them are Aimed Blows,
they are no threat to win anything. I just want to see how they turned out.
