                                 DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
                             Notes from the arena champ.

I guess the Torchlight Kid didn't know what to do by daylight? Or maybe it was
my shining countenance.

                                     Redd Corvait

P.S. Poor boy, I know the food in the Infirmary is awful. I'll bring him a ham and
cheese sandwich and chocolates.

                                      SPY REPORT

Good day, in CLIFFHOME a quiet thief gets rich, but a quiet spymaster gets poor.
So bring me ale and harken to my tidbits of news. And let's see, UTANO fought
KARTIKAYA and gained 15 points and contributed to U.A.K.'s 5-0-0. JITNEY JOHNNY has
lost to SCARLET MONK, falling 7 points, while helping make JINDA-BAN a 1-4-0 turn.
And not without some honor, GURU GNU now claims the title and throne of Duelmaster of
CLIFFHOME. By the way, was that our Duelmaster that I saw last night, cramped under
the table at The Choking Ogre?
I tell you, a green quarterstaff lasts longer than a seasoned sapling. A basher
friend of mine assures me this is true.
The Dark Arena is for those who cannot win, not who cannot lose with grace.
Dignity in life or death is the warrior's creed. Is it really true that CLIFFHOME
has more dishwashers per capita that fighters? Just thought I'd ask...
Remember, blood on the purple robe does not change it from a purple robe. Dare
to fight bravely. Well, I'm burning daylight here in CLIFFHOME and I've a long road
ahead of me. Happy Trails. Until the sun next rises and my pen sets to paper--
Alarond the Scribe

Bent Fender -- Given your record, I feel a bit bad about the challenge. But I had to
see for myself. 75 fights?! And only 8 wins? How do you do that? I mean, do you
try not to win? You seemed like you could take a hit like your style should, but
shouldn't you try and parry some of my attacks?! Persevere. Those things you have
to fight the hardest for are the most rewarding. You have given me much to ponder.

Utano -- I wasn't hopeful when I turned over the page, but darned if I didn't win!
