DUELMASTER'S COLUMN
Notes from the arena champ.
I apologize, but Talks Nonstop will not be able to write his column this week.
He was sent to the principal's office yet AGAIN for talking in class and I've told
him the next time he'd be grounded. So he's only doing school, training, and his
fights right now.
It does give me a chance to address the arena, though. I am using Cliffhome as
my latest attempt to graduate all 5 original warriors from a team. With only one
warrior that I wouldn't normally run (and even that warrior isn't terrible), it is a
good team to work with. So maybe it'll work out, maybe not.
Bedtime -- The reason I started this team, he received (as most everyone here
knows) a zombie prize and is a 21 str/siz Super Human Damage Basher. Fun!
Defiance -- Tourney Striker, good fave learn
Talks Nonstop -- A basher that makes me smile
Sick Days -- A highly bonused, terrible on paper Lunger that made my decision to
run all five
Dirty Diapers -- A mess in more ways than one, but he is a basher, therefore has
value
SPY REPORT
Much has changed in CLIFFHOME since last I was here. Never fear, Olaf Modeen
adapts to many situations, as do all successful fighters. What's with KORGENDAL
FARS? He actually beat BASH BROS CHILDREN's SICK DAYS, and walked away with 13 more
points from the fight. Laughs were big at JINDA-BAN while they watched KORGENDAL
FARS clobber SICK DAYS. He lost 8 points and got bruised from objects thrown from
the stands. I'm sure CLIFFHOME is excited about ARGONATH, the new Duelmaster from
PILLAR OF KINGS. (remember?) But when you've seen as many as I have... Wouldn't it
be nice to have live subjects to practice on? I hear some team is looking into the
uses of convicted prisoners.
Speaking of cowardly avoiders and unfair challenges... The most avoided team
was SHEWISH CANDY. Management must be dealin', as the boys at BASH BROS CHILDREN
ain't reelin'! SHEWISH CANDY's mad!
There have been some calls to lengthen the time limit. Do you want the fighters
to walk away, or not? Is it my imagination, or are fighters getting younger every
day? To die so young, so gloriously!
Who knows what the future holds for a warrior. More fights, there's no doubt.

There was a line outside the Gladiatorial Commission's registry office. There
often was, but surely not now? Alarond the Scribe, who had drawn office duty today,
frowned at them.
A stocky, fit, moderately handsome gladiator stepped up to the counter. "I want a
name-change," he said. "How can I do my best known as," he shuddered, "'Dangling
Eyeball'? My name is Joe, and I want to use it."
A small and very shapely woman stepped up beside him. "And I am really tired of
being known as 'DA Bait'." She smiled, causing Alarond to sway where he stood. "I'd
like to be known as... Aphrodite, I think."
The others crowded forward, each advancing a claim, the babble of voice rising to
a roar, the crowd beginning to look like a mob--and every member of it armed and
dangerous.
Alarond raised his hands to quiet them, without much success. He raised his
voice, too. "We'll do it! A Name-Change-O-Rama, as soon as we can get the paperwork
lined up! Two or three months, maybe--"
The gladiators howled in protest at the delay.
"No, listen! The files here are HUGE, it will take time to get everything
straight. You've got to be patient. It WILL happen!"
