Notes from the arena champ.
Well, finally! I have deserved this throne for a long, long time, but that
dastardly Assur made Sickness avoid and avoid, and had his other baby warriors run
interference, and I was not allowed a shot. Good management by a cretin manager, I
say!
But I am here and not only am I Duelmaster, but I am a Lord Protector. What am I?

Seem to like FI/SC/LO respectively (18-46-1), (51-152-24), and (4-8-1)
My learns are something like 2, 18, 20, 15, 11, 5, with an exciting Admaster
attack
I am 19-4-0 arena with a DM Title, and 21-12-0 tournies with a TV (Rooks)
My faves are yet to come.
And I am shortly retired.

SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. We now have a new top team for all of you guys to dogpile on. DUCKS
UNLIMITED now holds the crown and they are betting they can keep it. For every
winner there is a loser. Speaking of losers, lets take a look at THE MIDDLE WAY, who
went down to 1st from 5th. Life is tough. Coming up with a solid 3-0-0 outing,
DUCKS UNLIMITED has advanced 5 places in the rankings. Hey everybody, watch out for
TUREIS, who flew up 21 points in the rankings after mashing ZOE ALBETA like a melon.
Keep your eye on this guy. And falling like a basher in the top ten was KOKABIEL,
who dropped 12 points after a disappointing (to say the least) bout with 3000 MILES
AWAY. Try as hard as the BIONIC MAN stable might, they were unable to find their
warrior (and ex-Duelmaster) MITRAL VALVE before this week's fights. In front of all
the crowds, RIGHT HIP (3) took the Duelmaster's crown for his own. I give the bum
two weeks. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at
bay.
But enough of that bunch, let's get on to the wimps who like to avoid battle!
Did you hear that DUCKS UNLIMITED was most avoided team this week? Well, knowing the
personal hygiene of DUCKS UNLIMITED's warriors, I'm not surprised! And you guys like
to boo me? Well, unsling your rasberries, cause DARQUE ANGELS beats feet every time
DUCKS UNLIMITED smiles at them. Try farming, eh? Well dang howdy, but if challenges
were votes, ZEB ARN would be president. Although it may be a contest he doesn't want
to win.
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Here's some advice: warriors
with little wit and will may encounter problems on the trail to the Isle.
Well, there's the manager of the XOCHITHLAN giving me the 'cut' sign (or is that
'They're going to strangle you in the alley?). Okay, so I may not be the world's
best comedian, but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. See ya next time

All, why the name, Mitral Valve? Well, 5 years ago or so, Smitty's mitral valve was
misfunctioning, due to an enlarging hole between chambers, and open-heart surgery
occurred. (Yes, the one with the machete slash to open the chest.) The mitral valve
replacement was from a pig. It worked well, and Smitty has not oinked once since. --

Name Change-o-Rama -- Final Update
The gladiators looked around at the Commission's administrative office on the
Isle of the Eye. They'd been here before. The standard boxy building, the scurrying
clerks, the... goats browsing on the landscaping. Not as many goats this time as
before, only three. One came over to Zeke (not his arena name) and nuzzled his
pockets. He scratched at the base of its floppy ears, lacking a snack to offer. He
looked at one of the clerks. "I thought you got rid of the goats last year," Zeke
said.
"These are new goats," the clerk said with a sigh. "They're going to be shipped
out next week." He looked hopeful. "They like you, could you stay until then?"
Zeke sighed. Minding three goats sounded more enjoyable than fighting in the
arena. "I'd have to ask my manager."

Snatching his parchment away from a very determined goat, who apparently thought
it was a tasty snack, Rodney quickly dipped his pen in ink and began to write. "It is
our pleasure and honor to note that sixty-seven gladiators and teams have elected to
change their names, supporting the contribution of goats to deserving people. With
the Commission's matching funds, this has purchased three goats--a good goat can't be
purchased for a copper, you know. The goats are already en route to their new homes,
where they will be--" He paused and thought about it. "--very welcome. We wish all
the best to the goats and their new owners."
