                                      SPY REPORT

Hail and well met warriors of ZENSU! Know me for who I am, Zontani Sharp Eyes,
Spymaster extraordinaire of all Alastari. JENIPHER caught the eye of many in the
gladiatorial commission as she skillfully bested CAPTURED ORC and was awarded 15
points in recognition. The city has turned out in honor of THE MAD CARROT, for with
his arena victory he may now lay claim to the highest position in the city! Heed
this! A seer has warned that if exactly 6 die in duels this week, the whole city
shall perish! Just remember...5 or 7!
I have been in deep conclave with my spies who watched all that has recently
transpired. Indeed there is much I would report. Mighty fighters cannot but expect
competition from those below. ARNIE EL SHEW take warning! You have more than a few
enemies in ZENSU.
What warrior does not hone his years, impatiently waiting for the moment of his
foe's mortality? Some say a warrior is judged by the way he bears arms. One thing
is sure, better a dagger in hand then a sword on the belt!
The girls are as pretty in ZENSU as ever I remembered them....and the fighters
as ugly! Don't let your reputation slip! More than a sharp eye must I keep, indeed
a stout pair of legs must I keep as well! The endless paths of Alastari await me!
Till next we meet remember - the pen is mightier than the sword, but a maul is a
different story!-- Zontani Sharp Eyes

THE DEAD W L K TEAM NAME SLAIN BY TURN Revenge?

                                     PERSONAL ADS

The Mad Carrot -- What are you mad about? You won the fight and got a totally
outrageous rating for a four-fight (showing) warrior. I certainly HOPE you have
tourney fights behind that! -- Jenipher

I think there must be some problem with the whole system of controlling usury here in
Alastari. I mean, if putting them into the arena was an effective deterrent, why is
there a never-ending supply of 'em? Maybe we should do something different, firmer,
with the price-gougers and loan sharks. Hanging them from trees as Yule ornaments
springs to mind.... -- Arnie El Shew, not at all squeamish

If the Fratsfa Slave is Convincian, does that mean that the Fratsfans enslaved the
Convincians? Gosh, I never realized that. They--the Convincians, you know--must be
unhappy about it. -- Blonde Grenade

I believe that Arnie is correct about the failure of forced arena fighting as a
deterrent, hence the plethora of Embezzling Scribes. This is ridiculous. -- Dark
Lenora, who is actually not Shewish, or mostly not, though I have a great respect and
admiration for the race: they're so tall, and so steadfast, and have many other
worthy qualities as well

I don't think the Mordant Deserter's really a Shew. Not at five-foot seven.
Besides, what would a Shew being doing in Mordant in the first place? -- O. Poste

My, have you noticed what a LOT of Shews we have in the arena who are about five-
foot-seven? I've got two warriors the Commission identified as such, and have just
this turn fought two standbys of the same height and attributed race. I think there
may be some problem with the Commission's definition of "Shewish Giant," don't you?
-- Leeta, Beyond the Pale

Damn straight! -- Arnie El Shew, the real thing

Gods, these bureaucrats! I'm NOT a Shew, only half-Shewish, and yes, I'm short, but
that's because my growth was stunted due to spending my childhood as a slave down in
Mordant. Of course I "deserted." I'm a REFUGEE, dammit, not a deserter! -- Hollon
Tegra, "Mordant Deserter"

Speaking for Embezzling Scribes everywhere, I consider this cruel and unusual
punishment and enter a hearty protest against it. Why should I have to fight in the
arena just because some idiot with more money than sense doesn't check on his
accounts from time to time? -- Faranesi Kara Hinh
P.S. And I am NOT Shewish, and have no wish to be taken for a member of that uncouth

They'll tell you there aren't any slaves in Fratsfa. Don't you believe it! Maybe
they don't CALL it-- mpfh! Gfspmnfff!!!

The charge of usury, lodged against me by a fool with more high-class ancestors than
financial sense, is a base canard. I was willing, for quite a moderate interest
considering his credit history, to advance a certain nobleman (by courtesy so-called,
as his behavior was not in the least noble), Bellenj by name, enough money to pay his
outstanding bills. "Consolidate the debts," as they say. He immediately took this
money and bet it on a horse that any fool could see was going to die if it moved
faster than a walk. Then, when I finally pressed him for payment--just of the
interest, mind you, no mention of the principle itself--he charged me with usury and
had me flung into this dangerous and disreputable position. Is this justice? No,
but it allows him, as the accuser, to claim my assets, so what has justice to do with
it? Ha! He thinks my assets will be easy to find? Think again, fool! I will
survive. I will have my revenge even yet. -- Vanchen d'Arens

30 July 2004
The total number of fights calculated was reported as 250 fights. This is a
misprint. It should have read "over 2,500 fights." -- Baphomet

                                  LAST WEEK'S FIGHTS

THE MAD CARROT devastated ARNIE EL SHEW in a 1 minute Challenge Title fight.
BLONDE GRENADE won victory over AMBITIOUS GUARD in a action packed 1 minute battle.
DARK LENORA subdued CULT MEMBER in a 2 minute fight.
JENIPHER vanquished CAPTURED ORC in a 1 minute gory mismatched brawl.
O. POSTE luckily beat EMBEZZLING SCRIBE in a 2 minute amateur's match.
