Murska:
Huw hooked an arm around the chimney stack and stretched the other one down
toward Tankesh.
The elf twisted as he hit the roof and caught Huw's hand in a strong grip, then
climbed upward until he could reach the chimney anchorage for himself. "Fancy
meeting you here!" he gasped. "Good thing, too." He spent a few moments gulping in
air, which was not as cool as he would have liked, but it was what he had. A quick
glance around, hampered by fire and smoke, told him that he was back in Murska. What
part of Murska, other than not-the-arena, he didn't know. "What are we doing here?"
he asked.
"This is the mages' quarter," Huw said. "I was trying to find someone who could
send me after you. Glad I didn't have to! Now what?"
"Still need a mage," Tankesh answered. "The Black Kaliv is causing this." He
stopped to cough as the wind shifted and blew smoke over their position. "We have to
stop HIM."
"There's monsters and maybe real demons here."
"And if we kill them or drive them off, the kaliv can just summon more. We have
to stop HIM."
"Good point." Huw looked across the area. The fires were multiplying and
escalating. They could still--with luck--retreat from this roof, but they couldn't
go forward. "I don't think we'll find one here, though."
"Not now," Tankesh agreed. He squinted into the billowing smoke. "The next
closest place is probably Zensu."
Huw hesitated, staring into the burning town. Then he shook himself like a dog
coming out of water. "Right. There isn't much I can do here, nothing that someone
else couldn't do just as well. We need a magician to stop this invasion." He was
speaking quietly, more to himself than his companion. He shook himself again.
"Zensu," he said. "I'm with you on that. Let's go."

SPY REPORT
It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. Hey everybody, watch out for NOMAD, who flew up 14 points in the
rankings after mashing EMBEZZLING SCRIBE like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy.
And falling like a basher in the top ten was BLOOD BATH, who dropped 22 points after
a disappointing (to say the least) bout with KUNG-FU MASTER. Going for the gusto and
coming up with aught but bloody knuckles was BEYOND THE PALE's O. POSTE, who was
turned away from the Duelmastership by DRIZZT. An apple a day keeps the doctor away,
but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at bay.
Here is other news that is of note. Well just about everybody wants a piece of
TILARIN, who was this week's most challenged warrior.
Remember that an arena is not always a safe place to be, but it is one of the
most interesting, though! Ask not the elves for counsel, for they will say both yes
and no. Silly buggers, eh?
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. Okay, so I may not be the world's best comedian,
but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. Its been fun, and I'm sure you
enjoyed it (boos). Now that I've got you worked up for Snide Clemens, I'll be
leaving-- The Unknown Spymaster

Drizzt -- Maybe where you are, but HERE, we had a DELUGE last night. Eight tenths of
an inch, and if you think that's peanuts, you should try walking somewhere in it! --
O. Poste, wet but game to go on
Paranoid -- Dammit, YOU are out to get ME, and it should be the other way around.
What am I doing wrong? -- Darron Linz
P.S. This whole "warm and fuzzy" persona is a mistake, isn't it? I thought so. I
just KNEW it wasn't me.
Cult Member -- No, thanks, I gave at the office. -- Tilarin
Who, I wonder, would admire the Userous Merchant? Some gold-digger, no doubt. --
Dellis Linz
Maybe that should be, Persistent Cult Member. What an idiot. -- Durnis

A few notes about e-mailed personals:
You may submit personal ads, columns, spotlights, etc. electronically, either via e-
mail to ads at reality dot com (which doesn't need any more spam, thank you) or on
the web at http://www.reality.com/duel2/modules.php?name=Ads. When you submit
something, you should get back a receipt from HAL at RSI. If you do NOT get a
receipt, your ads may have gone astray (not all e-mail makes it to its destination
any more than all snail mail does). If you DO get a receipt, it should, in the body
of the message, tell you what arena your stuff was filed in. Check your receipt to
make sure your submission made it to the intended destination. Also check to see
that everything you sent made it to the same place. Sometimes HAL, who is rather
simple-minded in some ways, will send half your stuff to another arena if the name
or number of that arena shows up at the beginning of a line. So if the word Ti
appears at the beginning of a line halfway through your ads, all the ads after that
may end up in Ti, which is closed and doesn't need ads. As a side note, sometimes
things move slowly, so don't wait until the last minute to send your ads and all.
If they get held up along the way, they may not show up until next turn. Happy
writing! -- Ed.

We of the Desolate Empire Alliance want to welcome two managers to our fold. Kon of
the Empire Rising, and Osiris! May they be blessed with the blood of their enemies,
and give no quarter in War! -- Dark Knights of the Desolate Empire
