Zorpunt:

Fandil stood on one of the town's three intact wharfs and watched the waves of
the Trier lap around the heap of stones that had been Khaldren's Tower. Most of the
soot had been washed off by the rains of the spring, but it was still an impressive
scene of destruction.
A small boat eased up to the wharf, and a lean figure jumped across from the
deck. "Glad you could meet me here," Lenpro said.
Fandil raised an eyebrow. "You said it was important."
Lenpro nodded. "But there's a lot of important trouble around right now."
     "This is trouble, then?"
"Of course! I sent Sedalia to the Isle to talk to the king--"
"I'd heard that," Fandil agreed. "What's the word?"
"That's the problem. There is no word, no message at all, and there should be."
Fandil reviewed the map of Alastari in his mind. "Three or four days each way,
and with the roads this muddy, maybe longer," he said. "And it might've taken him a
couple of days to get an audience--"
Lenpro gave him an impatient look. "You're forgetting the pigeons."
Fandil hoped his beard would hide his blush. He had indeed forgotten the
pigeons. The Consortium maintained a homing pigeon loft near the mainland end of the
ferry to the Isle. Messages, if brief, didn't have to wait on travel time.
"Sedalia sent a pigeon just before he boarded the ferry," Lenpro said. "It
arrived eight days ago. Since then, nothing. Eight days."
"Ah. You're correct, there should have been a message, even if only to say
nothing was moving forward." He turned to look around the waterfront. There was
nobody near, but sound carried over water, and it was as well to remember that,
sanctioned or not, the king of Andoria had a whole guild of spies and assassins at
his service.
Lenpro snorted. "I believe that the time for keeping a low profile is past,
Fandil. Something is wrong... with the king. There will be no sweeping this under
the rug."
"And there's no need to start rumors flying too quickly," Fandil countered. "We
need more information first--"
"That," Lenpro growled, "is why Sedalia went to the Isle in the first place!"
"There are other avenues to pursue," Fandil said, "and they can be done here--at
least, here as in, not on the Isle. But they are not going to be talked about here,
on this wharf. That'd be asking for trouble."

On the Isle of the Eye:

Lord Protector Senator Sedalia looked at the cart with distaste. It was not
new, though it seemed sturdy enough. But the main objection was that it had been
used to haul fish from Willow Beach, where Darkholm was located, up to Talahya, and
it smelled like it. Still, he glanced down at his clothing which was... extremely
utilitarian, it wasn't like his attire would suffer from contact with it. And at
least the ride would be brief; the road went through Lirin Kiv on its way to Willow
Beach. Four miles, maybe five.
"I can't believe there's no other way to get out of Talahya," he muttered,
climbing in beside Gissanniah.
"We're not out yet," she said. "I can't believe THIS way will work, until we're
clear of the last ring of watchers." She pulled the tarp up to cover both of them.
"I can't believe someone is going to this much trouble just to keep us from reporting
that we didn't get in to see the king."
"In itself, that is revealing," Sedalia said. His voice was muffled by the
tarp. "Presumably our failure to see the king would provoke questions that someone
really, really doesn't want to answer."
"Quiet," the driver said. "I could be stopped any time. Don't provoke 'em to
search the wagon."

                                      SPY REPORT

Thankyouthankyou. It's great for me, The Unknown Spymaster to be back in ZENSU.
Hope you enjoy the show. Oh, who am I kidding? I already got paid! Hey everybody,
watch out for CHRISTOPHER LEE, who flew up 16 points in the rankings after mashing
CADDIS DEANE like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. Ya know, some days it doesn't
pay to walk out on the sands. TERILEE LINZ was defeated by CULT MEMBER and drops 11
points. Our battling duelmaster PARTICLE MAN has managed to hold the title, fending
off CHUCK ELVIS' none too subtle advances. Better luck next time, BEYOND THE PALE.
Advice to bashers--never force anything, just get a bigger halberd!
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the ZENSU arena.
Remember that an arena is not always a safe place to be, but it is one of the
most interesting, though! Big deal, so BORIS KARLOFF got mashed in the Dark Arena.
With his face he was more at home with the trolls than with us. (Waka waka). BORIS
KARLOFF says to his dog--'Who should I fight this week?'. Dog says 'MOUNTAIN TROLL'.
So the guy dies. Moral? Put lying dogs to sleep. Knowing when to use the right
tactics at the proper time is a very important step on the road to Duelmaster.
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. Okay, so I may not be the world's best comedian,
but then you guys aren't the world's best warriors. Its been fun, and I'm sure you
enjoyed it (boos). Now that I've got you worked up for Snide Clemens, I'll be
leaving-- The Unknown Spymaster

All -- Well, I'm out of here. After my latest Challengers Tourney the Gladiatorial
Commission came to me and gave me a great honor, my invite to Advanced Duelmasters.
We actually started off in Talcama but before we ever fought in the arena the boss,
Mad Max, moved us here. He felt that Zensu, being of Andorian philosophy, would be a
much friendlier environment for us to develop and grow.

I started off going 2-3-1 in my first tournament but the boss said he saw something
in me despite my poorer showing by his standards. After that tournament I fought my
1st fight ever in the arena and I ended up losing to a TP scum Marion Berry. After
that fight the boss held me out until the next tournament. He said he had high hopes
for me in the Apprentices class. Fortunately, I proved his instincts to be correct
as I ended up going 15-2-1 and won the TC over the boss's good friend and ally, the
Dark One. I was his first ever Tournament Champion after 15 years of playing this
game. Ironically, I wasn't his only TC in that tournament as my compatriot from
Aradi, Nuln of I Hate Them also was the Tournament Champion in the Adepts Class over
the boss's other good friend and ally, Tig Toad.

In the coming years I fought in the arena to much success going 12-0-1 after my first
initial loss. I managed to TV Adepts at 9-3-0 in the next tournament I fought in.
The boss thought I had a very good shot to TC that class as well, but alas it was not
to be. My next tournament I fought in Challengers as the boss mistakenly entered the
wrong ID and I ended up going one fight passed the Champions cut off. I ended up
going 3-3-0 in my first Challengers tournament. I expect to be in that class for a
long time.

This past April, I fought again in Challengers. I had a good showing going 7-3-0.
This gave the boss hope as he felt I would be his next big time Sandbagging warrior
but as I stated above, I received my invite to Advanced Duelmasters. It has been an
honor to duel among you all here in Zensu. Feel free to look me up in the Free
Blades regional as that is the arena that the boss runs all of his warrior.

Until, then all hail Zensu. -- Boris Karloff

For those interested in such things Boris was designed a little over 4 years ago.
I've taken some slight breaks here and there but he was active in just about every
basic tourney for me. I thoroughly enjoyed running him. He was my first ever TC and
he was just a blast to run. I haven't decided if he will be retired or not as he is
a favorite of mine but I don't see him having too much success in future tournaments
but I feel as though I owe it to him to run him.

Boris is 11-5-7-21-15-14-11. Normal Endurance and Normal Damage. He was born Expert
Decise and was +2 Init, +4 Defense and +4 Decisiveness. I designed him after seeing
Snotman TC with a similar design. The rollup is a fairly basic striker design but
Boris was pretty exceptional. His favorites are the Mace, Very Low/Very Low and
Decise skills. He graduates with an Advanced Master in Decisiveness, Masters in
Initiative, Riposte and Attack and Experts in Parry and Defense. If I do definitely
decide to run him, he'll be in the Free Blades regional. Feel free to look him up.
I'll be around in here for a little while now as Lon Chaney Jr needs to get beefed up
for a Champions Tournament. I'll see you all on the sands. -- Mad Max, mgr of Men of
1,000 Faces.

Particle Man -- Bakc and forth. -- Elda Mainz

The Khalhums Dwarf? Heck. -- Chuck Elvis
P.S. Not that he isn't an okay guy to go drinking with.

No. I will NOT learn Kung-Fu. -- Daceana Linz

Oh, dear. A Fratsfa Slave. People always misunderstand that. -- Terilee Linz

And a Persistent Beggar to wind us up. Pooh. -- Caddis Deane

Our congratulations to Boris Karloof the Inactive. -- Beyond the Pale
