Nobody fought anything but standbys last time, and Leeta is annoyed and disgusted. She says we're wasting our time, which is our business, but we're also wasting hers, and that is her business, and she doesn't like it. And I said that she told us to fight, so we fought whoever the Commission picked, and she'll just have to live with it--but that she should remember that WE might have to die with it. As you can imagine, we both walked away from that discussion in a bad mood. But there are days like that, and have you have to get through those days to get to the good ones. Flutterlee SPY REPORT It is I, Novgorodny Vir, Spymaster of Spymasters. Look on my work, ye mighty, and despair! WANDERERS had cause to celebrate, after CHOCK got 21 points by beating TRUSTWORTHY SCRIBE. KHALHUMS DWARF found out that KATI-TEI isn't a democracy. You've gotta be the best to be Duelmaster here! Word has it one team in KATI-TEI is taking speech lessons to try to bore their opponent to death. I'll bet it works. And how sociable are KATI-TEI's warriors? Come, let us see. Is there life after death? Pragmatics (and warriors) know there is death after life! Questions are being raised about the disposing of severed body parts in the arena. A certain tavern in KATI-TEI would I avoid! Do not think spyreporting in KATI-TEI is the highlight of my life. As the seasons change, and the creatures of the wild change also, so do I feel a yearning to leave this place. Do not despair! I shall return!-- Novgorodny Vir DUELMASTER W L K POINTS TEAM NAME FLUTTERLEE 4153 19 12 0 107 WANDERERS (329) CHALLENGER CHAMPIONS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME SATURN 3990 15 37 0 92 WANDERERS (329) PARNIAN 4138 14 20 1 92 WANDERERS (329) ADEPTS W L K POINTS TEAM NAME THE SHOCKER 4206 4 1 1 46 INQUISITION SL6 (382) CHALLENGER INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME WHEREFOUR WILLY 4207 3 2 0 25 WANDERERS (329) INITIATES W L K POINTS TEAM NAME CHOCK 4214 1 0 0 21 WANDERERS (329) '-' denotes a warrior who did not fight this turn. THE DEAD W L K TEAM NAME SLAIN BY TURN Revenge? PERSONAL ADS Arenamaster Jailon -- Are the swords, rings, or whatnot being offered guaranteed not to be cursed? -- Lurline Grace Lurline Grace -- I hope you appreciate that I was willing to send you off with a skill. It isn't every day that I expose myself to harm in order to give someone a skill, you know. One does not live to become a veteran by taking heedless risks. -- Hishandis, Veteran Mercenary Flutterlee -- You will have to do the column, as I have no time for that. My teaching duties are heavy. -- Godrim, Master of Kung-Fu Saturn -- You are incredibly tedious, and I wonder that your manager has not disowned you! -- Haegdur of Khalhums Parnian -- Wretched youth! You were not paying attention, and it is impossible, even for me, to teach a skill to someone who is not paying attention. -- Godrim, Master of Kung-Fu P.S. Do not focus on the win, that is incidental. Superficial fluff. The skill is the thing. Wherefour Willy -- Ah! I could well ask! Or whyfor? Why did you not give me money? I was polite. -- Loomis, the most polite of beggars The Shocker -- Ah. You think that merely because we are barred from issuing challenges, you can kill a member of the Cult of Tregist with impunity? Not so! Tremble with fear, foul murderer. Surround yourself with candles all night to keep out the darkness. It will not avail you! We are patient, and our arm is long. -- Spokescultist of Tregist Just out of curiosity, if I made a donation, would you go and buy another arm for the cult? One to be shared amongst so many seems a bit awkward. -- Ed. 15 September 2005 HAMMER ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT Be it known from the highest mountains to the darkest alleys of Alastari that the veteran manager known far and wide as Hammer has now officially retired from sponsoring contests as of September 15, 2005. What a long time ago was a fun motivated activity to help promote our common DM/D2 gaming interest in an effort to promote the growth and competitiveness of selected arenas has become a far from fun experience. In other words Hammer has had it! The combination of real life situations interfering with the time needed to effectively sponsor a contest, plus the attitudes expressed during such sponsorship interference has led to Hammer closing his personal coin coffers and retiring from his planned sponsorship of any future contests. There are others in our close knit gaming community who are well able to step up to the plate and continue sponsoring contests that make the basic game a fun experience for all those who choose to compete and interact in such future endeavors. Hammer thanks all managers both active and inactive who helped to make the Hammer sponsored contests a historical and entertaining experience well worth the time, effort and money spent over the past several years. May the Cheers and the Jeers of future contests build upon the legacies of those who have paved the way in years gone by to help make this game what it is today. Hammer has no regrets for the part he has played in that history. 19 September 2005 I'd like to say hello to everyone I know that is still around after my being gone for five years. Hope to see you all on the sands, and may your weapons strike true and your shields protect you (except, of course, against MY warriors *grin*)!! -- Lord Xiang, D2-101 5 October 2005 To those once of Willaf -- It's time to come back to the sands. I'm back, exclusively at Willaf.... -- Kurd the Vivisectionist, Your Better LAST WEEK'S FIGHTS FLUTTERLEE devastated KHALHUMS DWARF in a 3 minute mismatched Title fight.
