South of Andor:

Outcast Orchid looked at her companion. He had given his name as though it
should mean something to her, but she'd never heard of him. "Herlas of Zensu?"
"Yes, to my shame, I am."
She shook her head. "That doesn't mean a thing to me, but I can tell you that
as far as I'm concerned, saving my life makes up for a lot." She looked ahead. The
farm track they were following wandered into a field and stopped. "Where do we go
from here? How long before we can get back on the main roads? I don't like being
lost."
"We aren't lost," Herlas said. "I know where we are, and how to get to Fratsfa
from here--if the Chaos monsters haven't gotten there ahead of us." He guided her to
the left, into an overgrown woodlot. "If they have... no reason to go there at all.
Or not to, of course."
"Well, at least you aren't suggesting that we flee Andoria to escape the
monsters--"
"What would be the point? Once they've conquered Andoria, which is their goal,
I think, they will go on to the rest of Alastari, and from there the rest of Ghea."
"Lady Greywand might have something to say about that."
"Or she might not. She's insane, after all."
The woodlot was small, and on the other side of it was another overgrown track.
"How can you say that?" Orchid demanded, pulling a twig from her hair.
"Based on the available evidence," Herlas answered quietly, "but let's not go
into that now." He gestured slightly, indicating something ahead of them. "We're
about to have trouble."
Orchid looked. One of the monsters was waiting in the middle of the field. She
drew her sword, unwilling to give up without a fight. A limb of the thing
transformed into a sort of blade in response. She foresaw difficulty with an
opponent who could change forms at will.
Beside her, heat and flickering lights and a smell of ozone as her companion
cast a spell. Herlas said, "I think I can hold it to one shape, but be quick."
She nodded and danced forward, her sword beginning to trace the dangerous
patterns of her style. Sunlight flared along the edge of the blade, clean as
morning, and the monster shied back. She whirled past it, moving constantly without
pause, slicing and dicing methodically. Ichor flowed thickly.
It made a sound. Why should a Chaos monster that looked a little bit like a
person on a horse make a sound like wind chimes and sea gulls? Well, why not, it was
chaos, right? Anything goes, that's what chaos was all about. Except that she got
the feeling it was upset. Good! It should BE upset. Coming here and trying to take
over HER world--the very idea! She spun back twoard it, she had a second sword now
in her other hand, didn't know where she'd gotten it, but that didn't matter. She
hit it like a veritable wall of blades, and every gobbet of flesh she hacked off
burst into flames before it could hit the ground and was destroyed.
     Destroyed utterly.

                             Notes from the arena champ.

<Lucky Dawg circles the throne three times, sniffs it incessantly and proceeds to
mark his territory>

Ahhhhh, now I feel much better!!! It has been quite some time since a Dawg has
sat on the throne in this fair city of Kati-Tei, and it's most especially sweet since
it's Marma Duke's home city. He's lavished me with doggy treats and has bought me a
few new leashes with the spiky things around the neck. Hey, I like that kinda stuff,
okay?
I do feel especially lucky, as I'm able to share this honor with good old
friends who I had previously lost touch with, only to be reunited through this game.
I will be taking pictures of myself sitting on the throne and mailing them to Reaper
and Storm Lord so they can savor this moment and enjoy it as much as I. <grin>
Okay... now on to the important stuff... who gets my challenges? Well, Break
Stuff gets my first challenge but I suspect he'll either be going toe to toe with
Shewish Giant or settling a bloodfued. So that leaves Harbinger of Woe with the
second challenge. Hey, if I can't offer the throne back to the warrior whom I beat
to become DM, I can at least offer his brethren a shot. Stanloy, I promise if I'm
still here next turn, I'll share the wealth and make sure you get one of my two
challenges so you can have a crack at my tail... wagging of course.

Until then....
Same doggy time,
Same doggy place,
Same doggy channel,
Your Duelmaster,
Lucky Dawg

                                      SPY REPORT

It's me, The Unknown Spymaster here with my bag to give you the news on last
week's fights. We now have a new top team for all of you guys to dogpile on. THE
STORM FRONT now holds the crown and they are betting they can keep it. Hey
everybody, watch out for GRIMM LURCHER, who flew up 14 points in the rankings after
mashing SERGEANT 5 like a melon. Keep your eye on this guy. Well, everybody's pal
LUCKY DAWG moved hers record to 12-4-0 by defeating HARBINGER OF WOE in the
Duelmaster's Title Bout and gaining 10 recognition points. An apple a day keeps the
doctor away, but an onion a day keeps T.P.s at bay.
Let's dig a little deeper into what's happening in the KATI-TEI arena. And hey,
kiddies, those of you who didn't avoid WANDERERS, please raise you hand. Wow. Does
KATI-TEI really have that many liars? For those of you who like math, try this one:
WANDERERS + Weapons That go Boom = DA DOG POWNDAZ + Avoid City. Well just about
everybody wants a piece of TYEFOON TURMOIL, who was this week's most challenged
warrior. In a touching display by a 'touched' warrior, HELL HOUND went after THE
WAIT, who was higher by 23 points. Well, when the dust settled, HELL HOUND bested
THE WAIT. FOUR PAWZ of DA DOG POWNDAZ had better have a good reason for challenging
down 10 points in a challenge which he lost. I thought FOUR PAWZ showed great skill
and promise when he was beat by COUNTRY RHODES. All right, so I slept through it!
Big deal!
Being a spy is great--other people die and you spend the rest of the day
drinking to their memory. Better tanked than dead! Congrats to BREAK STUFF for
revenging the death of his teammate (but more importantly, feeding THE MUFFIN a bit
of dirt). Here's some advice: warriors with little wit and will may encounter
problems on the trail to the Isle.
I think I had better cut this one short. It's been nice chatting to those of
you whom I have not offended yet. Well, there goes another Spy Report. Good luck in
next week's fights. Its been fun, and I'm sure you enjoyed it (boos). Now that I've
got you worked up for Snide Clemens, I'll be leaving-- The Unknown Spymaster

title as well as the learns. To be fair, I'm coming back at you this turn as well to
see if it was a fluke. Who knows, I might just be a..... Lucky Dawg

London Fogg

Balin Chane -- I'm going to get through all that padding one day! Well fought. --
I.C. Sleet

Sergeant 5 -- Tried to experiment that fight! Oh well. Next time I'll stick to the

Balin Chane

Sergeant 7 -- Is there no end to you guys? -- Grimm Lurcher

Lucky Dawg -- Well, what do you expect from a gravel road? -- Country Rhodes

Assid Rane -- You're welcome. Just remember, I can't go on teaching like that if
someone kills me. -- Balin Chane

Our congratulations to Break Stuff. -- Jorja and the Wanderers
